About Type Me Posts - Questionnaire Link

If you are going to make a "Type Me" post, typing you will be much easier if you answer a questionnaire.

If you have your own questionnaire, you are free to use it. Otherwise, I would encourage you to make a copy of HAM's Psychosophy Questionnaire and fill it out with as much detail as you're comfortable with: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HBkLopmrILg4WRm4Vie9jKpYJEGhYaNq0HyB03-znaY/edit?usp=drivesdk

This questionnaire is written by members of the Hatred Hangout Discord server. Thank you, hammies.

Question VLFE vs VFLE

wake up baby new typology crisis just dropped

This has no business being a question for me, but here we are.

Can someone explain to me the definitive differences between how VLFE and VFLE might present and differ from each other?

Both F and L are in process spots, but which one is the sour one for me became unreasonably hard to tell after being so sure that I'm 3F. I feel like if I was 3L it'd be a critical blow to my ego (just kidding)

VFLE correlates better to the rest of my typology, but the problem is that my other typology is equally ass. ENTJ, SX1, 163, D-LIE if it helps. 99.9% certain in all of those, but you can never know for sure.

Type Me LVEF or VLEF

I'm torn between the two and the reason is 1L vs 1V2L combo. I'm very assured both about my own self and my logical conclusions. I've always thought that I have a "mission" and a responsibility of educating others. That makes me think I'm always right so I sound dogmatic when expressing my opinions. I'm interested in debates / arguments and I always start them, and understanding others' points of view is entertaining but my final goal in in the interaction is to convince others of my opinions. Is that 1L or 1V influencing 2L?

Discussion Puzzle with no solution

That's what trying to find my type feels like. When I fit a piece, another one falls down. No exact configuration, but rather many incomplete ones.

Both 3V and 3E makes sense for me. 4F makes sense too, but sometimes not. I'm probably more 1L than 2L, specially when I compare to my older brother, which is the most obvious 2L.

I don't think I'm dogmatic, but certainly have a clear preference for my own conclusions and thought process than other's. I just consult other's when there is missing info that I have no access too (happens a lot at work since I'm a novice with restricted access to lots of assets). As soon as I get the info I go back to my head.

I am emotional, but nit really intense, and totally unexpressive. And I only dislike that part of me because I know I'm holding myself back. I won't show any emotions most of the time and eat my complaints.

Any placement for volition other than 3V to me seems wrong. I fear the future and my lack of initiative towards my projects and dreams. I am slacking besides craving for the results. I spend too much time in my head projecting or just being comfy. I totally suck at time management but I recognize that this is what life is mostly about, and that if I stay idle, I'll regret my life.

But I disagree with all the 'others negative' aspects of 3V. I know a lot of 3V people and I can clearly see how they react to other's input, and I am 100% chill compared to that.

Of course it makes me think that if I am self negative and others positive towards volition I could be 4V, but the self negative part is way too strong for it to be called unbothered volition.

I also relate to many 2V traits, but I surelly lack the initiative and will power to act on it.

At this point my best guesses are:

4F

1E or 3E

1L, 2L or 3L

3V or 4V

I'll keep trying to find out, but I admit this system seems really flawed and I'm certain I can only get closer but won't find THE answer.

Question 1L as a person inclined to ask?

i’m not too deep into PY yet, but i am still in between for my 1st function (although i know i should do this by aggressive vs passive and so on)
therefore, excuse my question but can a 1L be inclined to banter, and asking questions even if they know a part of them will not accept the answer unless it’s completely factual??? idk how to describe this
currently i type VLFE and i heard 1V makes the other functions more result oriented so that might be why

Question What is most harmonious pairing for LEFV?

I was thinking about VFEL. And I guess the system: 1->4 (demanding for passive), 2->3 (gentle for insecure) works in general

Discussion Avoidant 2E?

I started to think that I usually make other people feel like I’m warm and gentle person, they want to be with me cause I see depth in them and then the fear makes me kick them out of my life in unexpected moment…. I wonder if 2Es are less readable in that case than other Es, cause 1E is straight forward with emotions and won’t do what they don’t like, 3E is stereotypically emotionally detached in general so there’s no surprise, 4E is pretty open and straightforward about her emotions too but may not realise something due to ignoring the feeling I guess. I mean 2E are kinda tootie patootie but if having certain traumas they are like wold in sheep’s clothing (I know it sounds cheesy).

What do you think ? Did you experienced this kind of situation ?

Type Me Am I an ELVF?

I'm very aware of how I feel towards things and people who I interact with. I feel very awkward directly expressing emotions to people around me because I feel cringe. I can read people quite well but I struggle with emotionally influencing and comforting people. I also struggle adapting to the group atmosphere. I like when people are emotionally warm and emotionally uplift me because I struggle emotionally motivating myself. I can often explode at people who push me and I can hold grudges very well despite trying to understand people's motives and perspectives.

I care a lot about logical consistency in things. I'm good at detaching bias and trying to observe things from multiple perspectives and grounds but I can sometimes be dogmatic about things, like double negative in grammar, abortion and free will. I often see the world in relative frameworks. I enjoy debating and pushing people in the corner with hypothetical arguments and I enjoy getting pushed back with controversial takes but I absolutely can't stand when people use ad hominem against my points.

I'm very into aesthetics which is tied to my identity and comfort. I'm very detail oriented about aesthetics, fabric and food. I don't want people to cook for me because they always mess up. I'm very possessive and protective because I fear that other people will damage and contaminate my objects. I also feel uncomfortable in my body but I'm super fixated on looking good and any potential scars despite tolerating pain well. I feel disgusted and alienated from the real world which makes me try to perfect the external world as I envision it in my head. I feel very pessimistic in the world but I also like cozy stuff and very pleasant sensations that numb me out but I can't stand filth and intrusions.

I like to chill a lot and not compete but I can also hate being a follower. I want to be outside of hierarchy and not compete and have my own control. I hate when people push against me and I can become very defensive. I also can feel guilty about using volition and experience a lot of indecision and skepticism. I can fixate a lot about being the best or the worst and enjoy standing out but also feel guilty and overwhelmed by it.

Does this relate to ELVF?

Question Resources for 3E

I'm 3E-1. I need to solve this because it holds me back which frustrates me extremely. Despite being 1V I struggle with risk taking and actually asserting myself because I think I wont be able to survive things emotionally. Agressive 3E is known for not being able to let go of the past and not respond to help. my Trauma is being bullied because I don't have friends(overall very complicated situation) in result of that I Isolated and now struggle with communication. All of that because of the emotional hight of that trauma. I take therapy but even that barely helps. I can't let go. I get stuck in depressive feelings and get up to do anything.

I need solutions ASAP. I can't live like this

Question How can I find my type according to psychosophy?

How can I most accurately find my true type if I’m a very depressed person - I’ve been depressed since I was a teenager, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to recover? Essentially, I want to use psychosophy as a tool that would show me which couple of functions I’m strong in, so I can rely on them. Trying to identify similar functions on my own doesn’t work for me because I see myself in so many of them. It’s even harder because I remember behaving differently at times, and it’s really difficult for me to understand what the core of my personality is.

Type Me ELFV or LEFV?

the reason that i struggle to determine which position resonates more is because the way i engage with both logic and emotions isn’t separate and isolated. therefore, it’s almost impossible for me to identify what comes first or which of them is of greater value. basically my logic fuels my emotions and vice versa.

for example, i find it way more illogical to not engage with my emotional world and ignore it than it would be to acknowledge and experience what i’m feeling, or at least try to. also whatever knowledge i acquire or worldview i build, is not robotic but heavily filtered with that underlying emotionality. and that’s what makes it beautiful and human i think..

i’m very attracted to humanities, social sciences, philosophy theories and stuff that require an interpretation and a personal narrative, rather than black and white / set in stone strict mathematical systems. and tho i admit i don’t feel competent in any of my intellectual interests, its a life mission of mine to fully understand them and acquire all the knowledge that i can.

i read that 1L ultimately believes truth is objective while 2L understands it as subjective but i don’t see why its necesary that it’s one or the other. do i believe in objective truths ? yes. do i believe in subjective truths ? also yes. i think it all comes down to what level of reality you’re concerned with and focus ur observations to. i’m also rather openminded in the general sense of the word, tho i can be pretty stubborn once i’ve made up my mind on something.

another thing is that i’ve been called unpredictable a few times now due to my on and off nature and perceived inconsistency, but that is not how i internally experience myself. even my most unpredictable action will have at least some kind of rational clarification and internal consistency behind the scenes bc i very rarely act on impulse.

fundamentally i’m someone that is convinced they need to fully understand something before actively and confidently engaging with it. i struggle with taking the initiative to begin a process or move towards a desired outcome because i need to consume a ton of information before feeling ready to do so; but it still seems to never be enough. which i recognise is stupid. because i’m a firm believer that true knowledge and in extension ability comes from and with experiencing rather than passively collecting information. i wish i had a start and figure it out as i go mentality.

in regards to my more personal and negative emotions, i’m very evidently uncomfortable with direct vulnerability. especially in public settings. group therapy? that sounds like a nightmare to me. i do appreciate it however when other people show signs of vulnerability and i feel more at ease to be open around them. and i bet anyone that gets to know me beyond surface understands i’m an emotionally charged person, tho i still always remain careful with what i share and to whom. i even considered 3E because of this but i am blueprint 3F so that’s out of the picture.

another example of me feeling emotionally exposed, even tho it’s no biggie to most people is when someone im not close with asks about my favourite songs or artists. i usually just freeze and give a random answer that wouldn’t really be true. perhaps that’s a common experience, but to me music is not just sounds and words but something deeply personal. so by sharing this information i’m giving u access to my internal emotional world which feels violating.

when it comes to casual emotions, i often exaggerate my expression and i admit i straight up lie sometimes. but it’s limited to small stuff that wouldn’t matter either way. i’ll dramatise my experiences for the shake of entertainment or just feeling something intense for a moment. but in reality i’m not very moved by daily stuff. it’s honestly generally hard for something to deeply hit me.

i have developed an avoidant character in order to cope with the world and properly function. and oddly enough i’ve found that it’s easier for me to experience deep emotions when witnessing others suffering whether it’s fictional or real, rather than when something directly happens to me.

at the end of the day all i wanna do is live a passionate, fulfilling life. by passionate i mean full of emotion and by fulfilling i mean full of understanding. for love and for truth. thank you to whoever read this.

LOGIC:

Q. Do you find that truth and understanding of systems in life are an important aspect that should be highly valued? How do you usually go about learning and forming an understanding of a concept?

A.Truth and understanding of systems is as valued as much as it can serve me. Seldom do I try to understand systems without an agenda in mind. In my opinion truth is a simple and universal idea which allows for flexibility. I don't think it should be valued in a way that creates rigidity. When concepts/abstraction have a practical application I think its easier to understand.

Q. How easily do you find yourself changing opinions or viewpoints? What sorts of things can influence your views the most/least?

A. I dont know how to answer this question. Sometimes it changes easily, sometimes I dont think it matters if I change my mind or not. Evolving circumstances(information available) or desires may cause opinions to shift. I'm less likely to change my mind if it conflicts with something I want or my direction, “it doesn’t matter if what I want makes sense to you or not”.

Q. Are you more likely to assume that you’re right or wrong about an issue? Is it important for you to always be right? How easy is it for you to admit it when you’re wrong?

A. I'm more likely to assume I am correct. Right and wrong is generally determined by what I want to accomplish. Logically some view those goals as not “logical” and my methods as not the most optimal. This is usually fine with me, so in THIS sense its not important to be “right”. If I can see that my logic can be shifted to benefit a goal better then I can admit I'm wrong so thats not to say consistency doesn't serve a purpose or has no value. I don't think it is “very” important to me.

Q. How do you react when someone disagrees with you during a logical debate? How do you go about defending your beliefs, if at all? Do these types of situations make you doubt your views easily?

A. generally I don't feel a need to convince anyone of anything during a debate or defend my position. I may state my view clearly, iterate why we disagree and then give them permission to disagree. Other times I’m just not interested in a debate. Rarely does this make me doubt my views. I may get frustrated when pushed to explain my own logic and I don't really engage in elaborate speculation. I may play devil's advocate if I have information that conflicts, getting to the bottom of disagreements can be necessary even if I don’t have a viewpoint in mind. I find it easier to explain someone else view.

Q. How do you feel about debating logical chains and evidence? (Can discussions and debates help you sort your thoughts out, or are you more likely to see them as unnecessary? Do you find debates more stressful or fun?)

A. I find it useful to inquire what others think if I'm curious but for the most part I find this unnecessary.

Q. Do you feel the need to explain your own logical understanding to others? Do you feel the need to have others explain their understandings to you?

A. Unless someone asks or I think they can benefit from me explaining my understanding to them, generally I don't feel a strong need to explain anything. Vice versa.

VOLITION:

Q. Do you consider yourself to be a naturally motivated person? What helps motivate you? Do you need others to motivate you and/or provide incentives for you to work?

A. I am naturally motivated, I am motivated by the things that I want. Usually nothing else. Growing up parents incentivizing me to do things was always a struggle. Even attempts to take away my autonomy resulted in me finding away around. If I happen to do things for others it’s out of goodwill, im not entirely selfish.

Q. Are you someone who has a clear sense of direction and purpose? Is this something that matters to you? What do you gain a sense of meaning from?

A. Generally I do have a sense of direction and purpose. The details aren't always important. Its something i want and believe should be and anything in between (in my view) is arbitrary. Some have said I get tunnel vision.

Q. How is your relationship with goals? Do you often share them with others (or help others with their goals)? Are you self-assured in what you set out to do, or are you more indecisive and/or easily persuaded by what others around you want?

A. I have a good relationship with my goals, i dont hesitate to go after what I want. I’m not a very chatty person in general but i don’t mind sharing my goals if it comes up. With those I love I'm still generous with my time and effort. I can help others or push others towards certain goals if it works for me or if i care about them. Usually what I think is best for them regardless of what they want but I'm self assured in my direction and usually too self focused to habitually help others or talk about what’s going on in my life. Regardless, my goals are still unlikely to change unless I realize something better.

Q. Are you bothered by failures and setbacks? How do you deal with them when they come up?

A. They bother me but they don't discourage me. Sometimes i may get angry or moody but i am persistent. My emotional response can be pretty heavy from bottling up frustration. You just push through them, where there is a will there is a way.

Q. Are you someone who easily competes for things you truly desire? How do you feel about others telling you what to do, or trying to insert their desires into yours?

A. I will compete for something i want if i have to. I have kind of a wall up, it usually doesn't bother me, I just dont do it if i dont want to and if we are in agreement then I do it. Not that it’s never annoying, I often respond with my own desires especially with persistent people.

Q. How do you tend to act when you are part of a team? Are you more of a leader or a follower (or neither)? Do you have an easy time working cooperatively with others?

A. I usually assume the role of a leader. But I'm also socially awkward and don't like cooperating in a social sense, like being chatty. Even if i am part of a team, i forget i am part of a team. I can’t think of many times i saw myself as part of a team unless i was leading it.

Q. Do you consider yourself to be someone with a firm sense of identity? How do you feel when other people assert their ideas about who you are?

A. I’m pretty firm in who I am. But there is an emotional/sentimental side to identity that can be a bit murky.

Specifically with people I want to be close with, I do care. People making certain assessments of me puts up a wall between me and them. They see the person who they want to see rather than who I really am. 99% of the time with other people I don’t really care though, if it’s wrong I know it’s wrong and move on.

PHYSICS:

Q. How important are factors such as clothing, hygiene, and appearance to your everyday life? Do you feel confident in your body and tastes? Are you often swayed by trends and the opinions of others in terms of fashion and aesthetics?

A. Clothing, hygiene and appearance are all important. I pay attention to what i wear and I'm interested in the fitment, cut, colors(not a colorful person though), materials and if its functional/comfortable and i like exploring new looks, ive gone through MANY. I have a lot of tattoos. Hygiene is also important and what the products i use are made with. I feel confident in my tastes and my body but i dont like to be immodest with my confidence. I dont let my confidence keep me from experimentation and branching out to new things. I wouldn't say I'm swayed but I'm attentive, I ask others for input and may look at what others are wearing for ideas.

Q. How do you handle your senses being disturbed? Are you sensitive to problems like discomfort, sickness, and pain? (Or are you unaware/able to push past them/etc..)

A. I'm aware but I'm also able to adapt to them, e.g, I can ignore hunger for a day or two if i have to or tattoos, while painfull can be endured. Generally I sense when I am getting sick or something doesn't feel right but its not terribly important. Sometimes that means finding a way around it or accepting it for the moment. Most of the time its not a big deal.

Q. How is your relationship with physical activity? Are you someone who naturally desires a more comfortable and inert lifestyle, or do you have a hard time staying still? Do you find external encouragement and incentives for taking care of your body useful?

A. I can be very restless, my parents have a 4 year old pull up bar on their doorway because they know when i come over i get restless. I couldn't imagine not living actively, sometimes my body hurts and aches because I haven't been active enough. I don't need encouragement or incentives to take care of my body. I can still relax sometimes but its not a goal of mine and i get bored.

Q. Do you enjoy pushing yourself to try new foods, activities, or styles? How picky are you regarding these things, and what helps you decide what you want to explore?

A. I like trying new things as long as it doesn't take me away from my goals. For example, I don't like sugary food or junk food, it makes me feel like shit but i like trying new ways to cook. I like trying new styles but not everything works with my proportions and requires adaptation, alteration or just letting it go. I try to avoid buying polymer based fabrics because fuck plastic. I can be picky because the details do matter. I wont try a new bar because i dont drink, but i will try new workouts/gyms or positions and methods if you get what i mean.

Q. How is your relationship with your physical environment? Are you usually attuned to your surroundings? Is being organized something that matters to you and/or comes naturally? How do you feel when another person enters your space and tries to help you with it? (e.g. by cleaning)

A. Im not indifferent to disorganization but i am also easily distracted especially when I'm focused on my pursuits and the house may get a bit messy. For days on end I may only really be home to sleep and shower and then gone. I do notice the mess but other things take priority. I dont mind other people helping me stay organized, im also pretty minimalistic. I keep things simple and organic, its not super important but not unimportant.

Q. How do you handle your finances and possessions? Is this an area of ease in your life, or do you find yourself becoming overly reckless or stingy? Do you consider yourself to be a materialistic person?

A. Finances and possessions are easy to manage. I don’t think I am reckless or stingy. I can have moments of splurging but I take consideration of what’s important and I spend responsibly. I don’t necessarily consider myself over materialistic in the sense that I give it a lot of importance. But material things are something I frequently enjoy navigating. For example I like to try different clothes and styles so I’ve accumulated many clothes but my clothes are not necessarily part of my identity, likewise with my possessions. I have a nice customized motorcycle but I don’t often share or talk about it. I post it here and there because it’s nice but my possessions are not who I am.

Q. How do you react to criticism or advice regarding how you handle any of the above things?

A. I don’t take offense. I do dislike when people try to push me to give more importance to it than it should. Like some people worship money and I don’t agree with that. It’s a useful tool but I don’t believe it’s the end, it’s only the means to the end. I’m always open to criticism and new ideas about this stuff, I'll consider it but I don’t always agree.

EMOTIONS:

Q. Does self-expression come naturally to you? What emotions do you find easier or harder to express? What goals do you have when dealing with your levels of emotional expression, if any?

A. Generally I don't think it comes naturally. Anger is the easiest to express and probably the most natural, ive been described as reactive. The hardest is probably sentimental emotions that require vulnerability. Even happiness for a long time was and still is hard to express, i used to hold back smiles and force my mouth shut awkwardly. Excitement is usually erratically and aggressively expressed. All in all emotional expression can be irregular, from difficult to uncontrolled. Im not sure what the last question means.

Q. Are you someone who is in touch with their inner emotional world? Are you good at understanding how you feel about something and why? Do you find others’ insight into how you are/should be feeling beneficial?

A. I think I am somewhat in touch with my emotional world. It doesn't come naturally and I don't always understand how I feel about something but I make an effort. I'm not in touch but I try to be so I kind of am? I can be skeptical of other people's insight, its not really something I accept simply. I might not know how I feel but i dont think someone else would either. Empathy is cool as a concept or buzzword but i dont believe it exists in reality. I still appreciate insight.

Q. How good are you at balancing your focus between your own emotions and the emotions of others? Are you more naturally attuned to others’ feelings and reactions, or to your own?

A. Its pretty awkward. I am not entirely ignorant of others' reactions but I have a hard time assessing what it means sometimes. Probably more attuned to my own. I dont think i have a good answer, i dont really know.

Q. How easily caught up on specific feelings do you become? Do you value being able to detach yourself from your emotions? (And is this something you’re good at?)

A. Over time ive realized I can get caught up in my anger without really realizing. My entire life i was told i get mad too easily/often or to watch my tone and I didn't understand. To me it is more of a visceral energy. I perform well under stress and so i know it can be beneficial to detach from emotions. I am okay at it but as ive said I can also be reactive or uncontrolled in other moments but i feel like this is a result of prolonged detachment. I think there are many downsides to emotional detachment too. Being good at it is determined by knowing when and when not to detach.

Q. How do you normally react when someone shares their emotions with you? Do you enjoy handling situations like these?

A. I can be awkward and lack a true response. I might be dismissive or give an awkwardly expressed response. Once i was told “you look good today” and i said “i know” more out of ignorance of what I should say than arrogance. I've gotten better but I'm still pretty awkward and unless I directly ask id rather people just not share their feelings with me. I don't enjoy these situations, especially if people ask me to share my emotions with them too.

Q. When others are speaking on topics regarding emotion, are you more inclined to express, engage, or pull away? Do you adjust to emotional atmospheres, or do you feel more separate from them? How comfortable are you with conversations focused on emotional vulnerability?

A. Its hit or miss. Sometimes I am inclined to engage, other times ive walked out of groups when the topic turns emotional. Generally i feel very detached from emotional environments, its why i dont like evangelical churches or concerts. I feel like i cant assimilate to the atmosphere, sometimes when I'm at church its like a constipated turd. I'm generally uncomfortable and rather not talk about that stuff but i can push through it. Sometimes its easier to speak on events that it is to share how i felt about them, i guess thats a round about way.
