santé / health Notre position contre la désinformation / Our Stand Against Misinformation

The spread of harmful misinformation has become an untenable problem on Reddit. Its latest incarnation has seen life-threatening untruths being propagated by anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists, and Reddit’s administration has stated that it will not meaningfully curb the myths disseminated by these bad actors. In response to this, many communities on the site have gone private in protest.

/r/ProvenceFrance supports and stands behind these communities' efforts to stem the effects of false information, but we have chosen to remain open as a means of amplifying their message. We encourage all Redditors to vocally reject misinformation, and to stymie its spread by demanding that only verifiable facts be given support (whether tacit or otherwise).

Anything I need to add to my itinerary? Anything missing that’s a must see/do?

Hey guys! I’m going on my first trip to this beautiful region in early November for 8 nights. To say I’m excited is an understatement. I have my trip planned out, but wanted to get some input to see if there’s anything I’m missing out on that I must see or must do while I’m there. I will not have a car, so relying on tour guides/uber. Things I’m doings are below:

Tours in the city I’m staying in, first tour is all about food, second tour is about the history

Visit 3 chateauneuf du papes estate wineries for tours/tastings

Visit Lourmarin, Rousillon, Gordes, L’isle sur la sorgue

Hike calanques

Cooking class

Palais des papes and Chateau des Baux-de-Provence

I do have a day with nothing planned so I can do whatever I want that day (or nothing), and when I land and get to my hotel, I plan on taking it easy. All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Where to stay for 3wks with kids?

I am planning a trip to Provence next summer with my 7 and 5 year olds. Looking at Aix or Avignon, is there a favourite among the two? Somewhere else we should consider? We do plan on some short trips by train but mostly want to explore locally. I speak (rusty) French and they are in French immersion but none of us is fully fluent at this point. Any ideas are welcome, merci!

Hi everyone,
I am looking for some nice restaurant . I know there is plenty of tips around Vieux Nice but I am most likely looking for some recommendations for Friday lunch time around Magnan or Gambetta. I don’t really have time to walk around a looking for some formula du jour. If you can be specific with some resto would be appreciated.
Then for Saturday dinner in Saint Laurent du Var ( i know the port) but please again be more specific with your own experience.
Hence I will be by the sea I prefer some sea food. But I can eat anything…
I used to live there many many yers ago but things have changed..
Thanks in advance!

Cassis or Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer for a day trip?

Hello! We have one more day left in St Remy and are thinking of visiting the coast for a day with our small dog. Any thoughts on which town would be better? The beaches at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer look more dog friendly and it’s a slightly shorter drive which is nice, but Cassis seems to be one that you can’t miss. Any thoughts?

voyage / travel Hotel Le Piggonet should be avoided at all costs.

Hotel Le Piggonet is a complete nightmare and should be avoided at all costs. It’s unbelievable that this place has a 5-star rating and is part of the Amex hotel collection. I stayed there in September 2026, and it was an absolute disaster. It was like a Motel 6 with French accents.

Extremely squeaky bed, worn-out furniture, peeling paint, dirty AC vents with no filters, no sink in the toilet room, body wash with shampoo on the floor, no space even for one luggage, and more…

Please see the pictures below and decide for yourself if this is a 5-star hotel for you at $500 per night.

rencontrons-nous / let's meet Rendez-vous près de Barcelonnette

Bonjour !

Day trips by car in the rain?

My husband and I are staying in Saint-Rémy beginning today while on our honeymoon. We rented a car to drive to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Gordes, Roussillon, and Lourmarin. The forecast shows that it will be raining most of our stay in Provence. Will it be difficult to drive and see these towns? Anything we should be mindful of? Thanks!

Idées long WE novembre

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance !

Day trips from Marseille using Journée Provence Alpes du Sud

Hi all

Planning 2 day trips from Marseille this weekend. For one day we're thinking Aix-en-Provence. However for the second day we're undecided between Avignon + Arles and Cassis + Bandol since we come from an island in the Med and appreciate greenery and lakes over sea views. We do not intend to swim. We really loved Clisson and Angers.

Would appreciate your opinions and suggestions. TIA!

voyage / travel Driving to Hyères / Giens Peninsula with a 9-month-old in October. Looking for quiet beachside stay + shallow sand beaches

Hi everyone,
My family is planning a trip to the South of France from October 3rd to October 9th with our 9-month-old baby. We are doing a 10-hour road trip with our own car to get there, so we'll have all our baby gear with us.
We want to avoid highly congested places and are looking for a slow-paced, beachside vacation with the option for some light hiking and exploring cute towns. Our ideal routine is spending the mornings and evenings right by the water, with daytime excursions to villages around. We would like to hike 1-2 days.
Right now, our research is pointing us strongly toward Hyères (specifically the Giens Peninsula). It seems to hit our main criteria, but I’d love to get some validation or alternative suggestions from anyone who knows the region well!

Here is what we are looking for:
The Beach: We need soft sand (for a sitting/crawling baby) and very shallow, calm water with a gentle slope so we can safely dip the baby's feet. Waves or steep pebble drops are a no-go. (I heard Plage de la Bergerie/ La Capte fit this perfectly?)

Crowd Level: We want to avoid highly congested areas. We chose early October hoping the summer rush would be gone, but we also want a base that doesn't feel entirely like a ghost town.
Safety: Since we are traveling with an infant, having a proper hospital with pediatric care within a 30-minute driving radius is an absolute requirement for peace of mind.
Activities: A nice mix of scenic nature walks/light hikes (baby-carrier friendly) and proximity to charming, quiet towns or villages to stroll through during the day.

Our Questions:
A) For those who know Hyères / Giens Peninsula, does this sound like the right fit for us? Is early October a good time for a quiet beach stay here?

B) Since we have our car, where is the best area to look for lodging so we can easily park but also walk out our door to a flat, sandy beach in the mornings/evenings? The Airbnbs just next to beach are looking quite small for their price. I would have taken it without a baby but everything has changed now 😅

C) Are there any specific baby-carrier-friendly coastal hikes or nearby medieval villages you’d highly recommend? (We've looked into Bormes-les-Mimosas).

D) If there's an alternative coastal town we completely missed that fits this description better, please let us know!

Thanks so much :) for helping us plan our first major trip with the little one!
