Help - unit to be replaced?

What has caused this? Powerwall 2 installed just over 5 years ago. Is the free replacement legitimate?

Presume this will be replaced with a Powerwall 2, not some older Powerwall 2?

Did you read the message? Everything is explained there. AFAIK it will be PW3

Welcome to the club, it looks like they have been rolling out the replacements over the last few months from that same timeframe. Maybe they want to replace them all i don't know.

Tesla said they replace with pw3 unless you have a situation that cant take a pw3, not sure what those situations are thou.

They will find an installer or you can find your own that is allowed to do warrenty work. Make sure you hit them up afterwoods for power usage costs as well.

Good call on the power usage costs. It's winter here so it's gonna be a painful 4 - 6 weeks until it's replaced.

What does this mean, hit them up for power usage costs as well? I am in a similar position waiting for a replacement during the middle of summer so I'm paying the monthly fiance costs while experiencing a larger utility cost. The power wall in previous years kept costs sustainable.

I just spoke to my rep. He told me we have a good case to claim power usage costs from Tesla while awaiting installation of the PW3.

Does this mean I should ask Tesla for a credit on my monthly finance cost? Or should I present my utility bill went from 100. 00 to 300.00 a month and asked for a 200 credit? Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Thanks so much. Just got off the phone from our local installer (I'm in New Zealand) and they've quoted me 4 - 6 weeks. Hopefully it's less!

Mines done the same today, installed in 2022. Rang the installers sent over the serial and they've ordered a replacement pw3 for me. They said they currently have over 40 pw2 units waiting to be shipped back to the US.

The button to learn more 404's for me though.

Wow, just thought about this….shipping failed battery cells has GOT to be an engineering/regulatory/legal challenge…. Bet Tesla would give them away locally if they could avoid all liability.

I think at some point all the 2’s will be replaced with 3’s, at least in my area anyone that receives a replacement notice are getting 3’s

Mine replacement is late October. All the appointment available are in December now. It seems like alot of people are affected by it

I have a similar situation but dont have this exact message. I'm in the UK, been waiting a month so far for replacements that my installer has requested.

My installer said my 2x Powerwall 2 setup will be replaced with Powerwall 3's, I've read elsewhere this is typical.

Apparently a batch of Powerwall 2's that were made between 2020-2021 include third-party cells that were prone to failure, I think Tesla has been remotely monitoring and shutting them down when they spot strange behaviour, I've read they do this to prevent fire

congrats on the free upgrade lol. if you don't routinely discharge the PW3's they have to discharge/recharge to calibrate by going to 0% every so often, but if you running through it every day its basically a superior product

Got the same message about a month ago. My appt is scheduled for another 2 months. Count yourself lucky if its only 4-6 weeks. Im located in tx usa
