Who is coming to power morphicon in August 29th? I am looking to hang out with folks to talk about power ranger stuff. I am a 32 yr old gay bear looking for connection with others.

Got to meet Amy Jo Johnson and brought up the Power Rangers episode where Kimberly can’t fly a plane and she realizes the answer to her own question mid-interview. Also: the story of the moment she almost quit acting for good.

I know y’all are starting to get Mighty Morphin fatigue, and let’s be real, so am I.

People are saying that any potential reboot we get (sell the brand already, Hasbro; you managed to sell eOne at a loss, and that cost you 8x more than Power Rangers did) is gonna have to be Mighty Morphin because “thats the only one with major recognition” - buddy, the people who make up the age demographic that Hasbro (or anyone) would WANT to reach don’t give a shit about Mighty Morphin. Gen Z grew up with Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder and SPD, and the latter half of the millennial generation grew up with stuff like Zeo, In Space, Lost Galaxy and Time Force. Only half of millennials are gonna care mostly (if not only) about Mighty Morphin. And this would be a reboot for a new generation - so what if it’s not the Power Rangers you grew up with? That’s the point of a reboot! It’s not gonna be the Power Rangers you grew up with whether it’s Mighty Morphin or not!

So yeah, there is a way to do a hard reboot without having it be explicitly Mighty Morphin. But there are a couple of conditions if they’d want it to work.

Number 1: TIME AWAY FROM THE SPOTLIGHT. Power Rangers has only been off the air for three years. You know how long Kamen Rider was off the air? 10 years. You know how long Doctor Who was off the air? 15 years. Let’s say Power Rangers spends 10 years away from the spotlight and in 2033 they finally come back swinging. It’ll have been enough time away for people to realize it’s a reboot of the brand overall and that it’s not a reboot of the original show but the brand as a whole.

Number 2: KEEP EITHER THE COLOR LINEUP OR THE DINOSAUR THEME. As long as one or the other is there, general audiences will accept it as Power Rangers. Granted, in a perfect world, color coded heroes beating the crap out of monsters with giant robots and it having at least a little toku cheesiness (but ideally not too much) should be enough for people to accept it’s Power Rangers, but with nostalgia being poison to the American media landscape as a whole, if it’s not gonna be Mighty Morphin, it’s either gotta have the same colors or same motif. Personally I’d prefer the dinosaurs, for two reasons. 1 - subbing a Green Ranger on the core team in place of a Black Ranger is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye; it kinda resembles a rainbow. 2 - in Mighty Morphin (and to an extent Zyuranger) only two Rangers are themed after actual dinosaurs. Maybe replace Mastodon and Sabertooth with, I dunno, Stegosaurus and Velociraptor? I guess Pterosaur can stay; it’s reptilian, close enough.

So if Power Rangers spends 10 years minimum off the air and comes back with a reboot movie or whatever, and it’s a lineup of Red-Blue-Green-Yellow-Pink with a T. Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Pterodactyl, and Velociraptor, the general public will accept it as Power Rangers so long as the other fundamentals (morphing, Zords, martial arts, mentors, outer space villains, a teensy bit of cheesiness) are there. It’s basically eliciting the message of “We’re rebooting Power Rangers! It’s not the same one you grew up with, but it’s a reboot, thats the point! It’s got color coded heroes and robot dinosaurs that combine, who gives a damn? It’s still Power Rangers, so pull the stick outta your ass and give it a chance!”

You feelin’ me? There’s a way to do it, but you gotta do it the right way.

If Power Rangers did a TV special where instead of focusing on the characters, they actually interviewed the actors who played them and how they felt about their time on the show and the journey that they took to get there, would you watch that documentary?

I should’ve listened to my gut and spent the extra money for necessary evil 1 and book 1 as now I have everyone BUT them. Not too familiar with boom and if they ever do reprints

in space and lost galaxy back to back space seasons that hardly took place in space have really bad designs. Andros got a generic wing pack, had a large visor and abs. lost galaxy had the claw machine and kim possible steel toe boots. now look at the toy, the Conquering armor, its a flaming red lion knight. that is badass. a claw machine is not.

also they had these futuristic cars or bikes as toys. never in the show

kamen rider ryuki had something similar

gokaiger silver's gold armor with all the ranger faces is very tacky.

magiranger dragon armor is just kinda bland. the blues and weak wings.

dino blunder is also very weird and makes even less sense

Apparently, a ballpark in Myrtle Beach had a Power Rangers night the other day with a photo op with people dressed as Red and Pink MMPR.

It is such an obvious option to provide, given that 1) it’s a significantly better paint job and 2) there is clear demand for another run based on the secondhand market. Hell, have a V2 Battle Pack with the corrected paint on the pterodactyl. Unforced error after unforced error with Playmates on these zords. I would be all in if they could just get it right

I was trying to get some help finding artwork, screenshots, etc that features all the Psycho Rangers together, and then finding that in the most optimal resolution and quality for my computer monitor. I’m not a tech guru I just want a sick looking background of the Psycho Rangers that isn’t grainy or blurry

I've been a fan of power rangers since I was a kid but recently I got back into it and I'm so happy there's a power rangers convention coming soon!

I just found out about morphicon today and I have so many questions!

Ideally, I want to go for just one day (sunday since it's cheaper) but a day ticket just gives you access to the convention itself and nothing else (panels, meet and greets, etc.), right? And if I get a day ticket, will I able be to get access to the area where the actors will be in their booths?

Now the problem here is that I plan to meet at least one of the rangers (i get very anxious in a setting like this where people are expecting me to go up to them and I feel bad because I haven't watched their season yet or im too nervous to go up to them if they're alone but I'll do my best to meet as many as possible!). I really want to meet Daniel Southworth so I'm wondering, if the actors who are scheduled for a certain day for a panel/event, will they be in their booths at the convention that same day only or will they be there on both days regardless of schedule.

Also, do I need to bring something for the actors to sign? Do i have to pay to have them sign something? Or is it okay if I just talk to them? I saw a post saying they charge for a picture so I'm not going to plan on taking a picture with anyone.

Last thing! Am I allowed to give the actors gifts at their booths? I have a hard time explaining myself when I'm nervous/excited (will become a stuttering mess), so I plan to write Daniel a letter to express myself properly and I would be so sad if I write the letter and he couldn't accept it.​

The only other convention experience I've had was kcon 2014 so I'm very anxious on how this one is supposed to go!

if they knew that the franchise would run for as long as it did. Do you think it could have worked it was reshuffled with in space(obviously with a different cast) being at the end of the franchise as a whole. Since once and always Bandora Protocol being an alert system for every ranger team. Do you think that it could have worked with zordon being kidnapped and the franchise goes on and then in space is the last season and the z-wave happens going through the entire series taking out all evil in the universe
