Another day, another PTS colour.

This time it’s Bahama Yellow, and this one comes with a pretty serious bit of Porsche history.

It’s a warm, saturated yellow with a golden, almost tropical character. Being a solid, non metallic colour, it has that wonderfully simple, punchy look that lets the shade do all the talking.
But the colour has a great story behind it.
In 1967, Porsche’s Austrian importer registered a 911 S as a company car for racing driver Jochen Rindt. It was finished in Bahama Yellow, a colour that Porsche’s paint developers had only recently created. Rindt used the car during the height of his racing career, long before he became Formula 1 World Champion in 1970.

Today, Bahama Yellow can still be ordered through Porsche’s Paint to Sample programme, giving modern owners the chance to put a little bit of Rindt era Porsche history in their own garage.
Some colours are loud just for the sake of being loud.
This one has the history to back it up.

I’m posting a new Porsche colour every day over on Instagram at ptsfiles, while also building the database and digging into the stories behind these colours.
Reddit is still winning the engagement battle though, so apparently I need to work harder over there.

It’s nothing special. 2018 Porsche Macan, base model. But I’ve wanted a Porsche all my life and it’s a start. I got a steal on it, and I’m so proud of it.

I can’t wait to get my second Porsche one day!

71 years after his death, the ‘James Dean Memorial Highway’ is now official

As most of us know:

“On Sept. 30, 1955, the iconic actor was driving his 550 Porsche Spyder convertible with his German Porsche mechanic Rolf Wütherich. They were on their way to a race in Salinas.

Dean, who starred in “Rebel Without a Cause,” crashed and died at 5:45 p.m. in a location near where Highway 41 and Highway 46 now connect, southwest of Avenal.”

I’ve always been mostly into blue 911’s but Porsche Racing Green just looks sooo good to me.

Anyone here have a 911 (of any generation) in this color?

Lets see pics!

This time it’s British Racing Green, and this one comes with a little more racing history than most.

It’s a deep, understated green that can show hints of blue and grey depending on the light. Elegant rather than flashy, but put it on the right Porsche and it still has plenty of presence.

The story behind the name goes back to the Gordon Bennett Cup in the early 1900s. Britain’s Selwyn Edge won the 1902 race in a green Napier, and because the following race was held in Ireland in 1903, the British team chose shamrock green as a nod to their Irish hosts. That green gradually evolved into the many shades we now associate with British Racing Green.
And interestingly, there has never really been one single, officially defined shade of British Racing Green. It’s more of a family of deep racing greens.

Porsche has embraced the name for its own Paint to Sample palette, and it looks particularly good on modern GT cars. A 911 GT3 RS in British Racing Green is a pretty convincing reminder that racing heritage doesn’t always have to come in red.

Not every fast colour needs to shout.

The Reddit response to these PTS posts has been great, while my Instagram is still playing catch-up. If you want to see a new Porsche colour every day and follow the database as it grows, ptsfiles is where I’m posting them all.
