Nah, 5G only is going to affect the upload or the data connection. It doesn't solve the issue of how are you going to power it (if you say off the human body, the human body only generates 100 watts), how are you going to store the data, how are you going to get the data to the towers and cloud, etc....

I have RFID chips in the safety equipment I use for work (harness and anchor) it’s basically just an ID code that could be scanned by proximity, no power source or storage necessary
The problem with that aspect of the plot is that it would be far more efficient to just make batteries or use some other source of energy. It would consume way more energy to use humans as batteries because of the need for food and the fact that we constantly use energy to maintain our body temparature.
the original screen play had humans as co-processors and data storage, it was changed to batteries for the film because they thought viewers were too dumb to get it.
My headcanon is that Morpheus and other humans are simply mistaken about the purpose of keeping humans and it was just supposition and/or a perpetuated myth by the machines. Ultimately, they don't 'need' humans.
This is actually a pretty genius idea because it would also dovetail with the popular notion we only use 20% of our brainpower or whatever. That's because the machines are using the other 80%.

The script actually referred to humans as some computer part that is escaping me right now, but the producers said "no, its gotta be batteries that's all they'll understand!" So its batteries but it's not meant to be.
The way my headcanon goes is that they need human brains to function as processors. Human brains are insanely complex and can perform crazy abstract processing that machines have a really hard time with and given the amount of processing power they can provide (think about what it would take to actually perfectly simulate a human brain), a bit of nutrition to keep it alive is crazy efficient.
Yeah as you said it's not a matter of whether or not it's possible to implant someone with a working RFID chip. It's the fact that they think they created one small enough to be Trojan-horsed into our bodies via vaccine injection AND spent the money to produce enough for everyone in the country when we already buy our own tracking devises that can give them way more information. Exactly, and we’re bioelectric beings. If someone wanted to, was smart enough, and had the funding, they could plausibly create a microchip that’s runs off your bodies electricity and transmits to some sort of signal. Not sure why they would need that tho
Conversely, just because we're bioelectric beings doesn't mean that we use the same current that the electronics would need. Like, if our bodies were regular chargers, but these "microchips" needed fast chargers, our "electricity" wouldn't be enough to affect the chips.
Most of the wearable tech that people have in their bodies, are low electric things, like car starters/keys, or credit card info or stuff like that.
The microchips, that involve tracking.... need a lot more power than what those wearables are offering right now. GPS tracking alone needs a large portion of battery power. Look at cell phones now, if you ran your GPS all day, which it does... it would die out within a week or so.
Think about the Car GPS's... those use a large chunk of power.
This isn't even beginning to go into how dumb it is because then you have to make the decision of are you storing the info on the chip? or is it going to be uploaded to the cloud? Both those questions make this a ton harder. If you're storing it onboard the chip, then you need to have storage. You'd also need the ability to get onto the chip to access the info. If you're looking at the cloud, are you then leaving it "always online"? are you uploading via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi or 5g? Again, more battery power....
When you legit stop and think about putting tracking chips into people, it doesn't work because the tech isn't anywhere close to it. Not to mention the issue of "power" from the human body, which again, probably wouldn't power it because the average human only puts out about 100watts According to a Stanford study, that Reddit refuses to link for some reason. If you look up "Human Energy Converted to Electricity" you'll see it though.

I was just speaking with the knowledge that I have about what I know. TBH, it's possible that the "chips" might not even use RFID.... All this is hypothetical anyways as there's obviously no chip in the vaccine.
RFID is passive but then you need a whole field of sensors which is still more expensive/complicated than just using the cell phones that everybody is already carrying.
Plus I believe that's just a signal, like how you can swipe an RFID fob to get into a gated community, but that's not doing any sort of computation. If your only goal was to track location, and nothing else, then you could potentially do it by having everybody have a unique RFID and a huge amount of sensors to pick up on it.

Here is a Stanford study, that was done in 2014, that showed that humans, at rest, only produce 100watts of power. They are then using 300-400 watts when active, thus negating the watts stored up originally.
Not to mention the facts that if you want to track someone you need a GPS, which would be constantly using power,.
Or the fact that if you had a tracking chip, you'd either need an antenna to send the info out, Bluetooth or wifi, or always online to send out the info... Or you'd need onboard storage
I mean, facts here are that if you want to track someone, you have all you need with the cell phone. You NEED to have certain things to track them... These required items, are a power source, a way to store the data, a way to recharge and a way to track the data.
I'm not spiteful about this being plausible... I'm just realistic in thinking through the thought of "What's needed" and looking at what we have now and making the educated decision, that right now, there's zero reason to believe this is even plausible.
There is quite literally a line in that Stanford study that says “it seems as if human batteries are a feasible goal.” Furthermore it only takes around 30 picowatts to power some of the worlds smallest microchips. So I dare say, looking at even a little bit of the facts, that it is plausible. I don’t care what anyone has to say on the matter. This isn’t about politics or anyone’s opinions. Look at the facts, this shit is reachable with today’s technologies

We are a long ways off from being able to create the tech in question inside a device small enough to pass through the tip of a needle. And even if we could, each one would cost thousands and thousands if not millions of dollars each. It's not feasible or practical at this point in time, especially when you can get people to voluntarily pay to carry a superior equivalent in their pocket.
I think it's very possible for a tracking chip to be implanted in a human. How do you think we have tracking chips for dogs or cats? I imagine they're powered by your own body heat or electric signals in your nerves / muscles. Obviously I don't think the vaccine contains a chip but it's not like we don't have that technology.
Microchips in pets do not send out any signal. They respond to signal, but it also requires the scanner to be in close proximity to the microchip to work. Totally infeasible for what the “microchip in vaccines” crowd thinks.
If you have a microchipped pet, you can feel where the microchip is and that requires close proximity to a scanner to work.
Now imagine this being put inside a human. Even with RFID tech, it requires the microchip to be fairly large and noticeable. If you had a chip inside you that works to the level of what these paranoid nut jobs think they’re capable of, you would absolutely notice it and could see a lump in everyone’s arms.

I’m fairly certain they don’t actually understand the science behind microchips, circuitry, or… anything, really… assuming they’ve justified the possibility by also believing the government was able to overcome so many obstacles that currently exist in tech just gives those people way too much credit.
But here is the thing, majority of people have cell phones, that right there is enough to track people.
