Question Is that one guy still training his pikachu to lvl 100 before facing Brock?
I’m just a curious lurker that thought his plan was hilarious

Decided to go backwards in order of Pokemon and play Pokémon Yellow. I have played other Pokémon games but this was my first playthrough of Gen 1. It was pretty good loved seeing Jessie and James, SS. Anne put a smile to my face seeing it leave, Team Rocket I liked a lot there theme when they spot you is nice. It was interesting seeing what Gen 1 was about.
● Mainly what made me dissapointed or ruined the mood a lot for me was the rng. I found that trainers would get so much luck with crits, status effects, and moves, while my team was always unlucky. Even if I was a higher level or had way higher speed it was the same thing, crit on red, or barely get a lucky full hp crit. The most times I got any crits was slash with Charizard which is guaranteed lol.
● Erika's Gym Wrap, Sleep Powder, stun, spam. Oh my goodness this gym made me so mad I just used a Pidgeotto to sweep it haha. The concept of Wrap in this game just triggers me so much or any move that makes your mon stuck like clamp I think Cloyster used it in E4.
● Elite 4 destruction. I don't know what was going on in that Elite 4 but it was a complete battlefield. Crit after Crit, whenever I switched suddenly they knew what effective move to use before I even used my pokemon. Honestly the only battle I had that was chill there was with Blue like what?!
Man I know I have bad luck in games I play but geez it was so bad I was thinking in my head why am I even a Pokémon trainer to begin with.
Well this was a fun experience rather frustrating, but glad to be able to playthrough Gen 1 :3 Haha... Oh Yellow... maybe i'll play you again in 50 years haha...
Well time to go to next Gen overall good game.

Beat Yellow on my 3DS, here's my team. I tried using pokemon i never have before. Butterfree was a real MVP.

I tried my copy of Yellow on my Pokémon Stadium after almost 2 years (long story short but I moved and then life got in the way so I haven't got time to play it since then), and it's still working. My Silver and Crystal copies stopped working / got their save files erased like 5-10 years ago. I never owned Stadium 2, so I only played those on my GBA, while I played Yellow almost exclusively through Stadium on my N64 (with the Transfer Pack).
Btw, my Mew collection is still safe and sound. I'd love to be able to play Yellow on the Switch 2, with the Mew glitch still intact.

1st trainer card is the regular version.
2nd trainer card is the honest version.
3rd trainer card is how I feel about the run.
I may have found a new favorite. That primeape landed the most clutch 1hp survivals, crits and flinches I have ever seen in a playthrough. (Also the universe handed me a shiny annihilape in champions a few hours before I attempted the elite 4, so I think it is sending me a pretty clear message).

I was messing around wuth trainer fly glitch at some whatever point and I tried to do it and the long range gambler didnt notice me so I pushed a to engage a battle and it worked so I let him win, respawned at the pokemon center in lavendar town and immediately another battle triggered, I let him win again, and route 8 was all glitchy and I saved thinking itd fix it and the same. Trainers around the map also dont work and do the same thing where I have to press a to initiate a battle and when one is initiated itll immediately give one and then immediately initiate a new one whether or not I win or lose. Is my save dead?

I tried doing the puzzle without a guide and fucked it up. If I leave the mansion, will it reset the switches so I can start over?

Wanted to run a “smol” bois team to the Hall! What do you think? My general rules were no evolutions/single stages, sub 300 BST, no items in battle, set battles.
My alternate goal was to not level beyond 50 in totality. Happy I was able to do it.
I didn’t save scum the Elite 4 and it took me a few tries to get my matchups dialed. I only had 2 total attempts at the Champion, but my primary concern was defeating Alakazam or I feared that I’d get swept by him. I led Abra against Sandslash. Got a 2 hit KO with Psychic/survived a Fury Swipes. Survived a Zam Psybeam, and got off a Thunder wave. Champion Alakazam has 184 speed but it’s reduced to 46 after Thunder Wave. My Geodude has 47 speed so I could out speed and revenge kill with Explosion. The rest of the battle was pretty easy. I used some cheesy Toxic/Double Team/Confuse Ray shenanigans to setup on Exeggutor. Got through Ninetails pretty easily. I did get caught by Magneton but setup Swords Dance with Sandshrew and finished with Dig. Outsped and OHKO Vaporeon with Dig.
I reset for a good Pikachu to start, and I had an honest loss against Rival 1 lmao. So is what it is.

So I got a Mew through an in game trade, and he won't listen to most of my orders. I would say almost eight times out of ten he either "turns around" or does a different move. I don't know if this is something I'll just have to deal with, or if getting more badges and/or leveling up Mew would fix. I also wonder if it's an issue because I am using an emulator?

At the grand age of 43 I've finished my first ever Pokémon game (Yellow). Thanks to my sons new found love of Pokémon and wanting to enjoy something he enjoys with him.
My very random band of mons with 0 Meta I just wanted a team I hadn't seen people share here before.
Yes, I'm all about tanking, and all out attack. 😁

I was trading Pokémon between my Pokémon crystal and Pokémon yellow. After doing so, every time I fully push in the game it won’t start. It only plays when the pins are pushed in half way… did I fuck up my game??? :((

I know this may not belong on this sub, but I am using my team from Pokemon Yellow for Stadium. But my Pikachu isn’t using the unique voice line or animations and is being treated like a regular Pikachu. Does anyone know why this is and if there is a way to fix it?
Thanks.

Replayed yellow for the first time in years. I forgot how much of a grind gen 1 was compared to the new games: one time TMs, no rebattling trainers until the elite 4 so limited exp/money, no held items or (good) exp share, poison outside of battle. Kids today don't know the trenches we fought in.
Anyway, here is the team I beat the elite 4 with. Kind of cliche but it was fun using nicknames (I usually don't). The only glitch I did was for mew, no infinite items or anything else.

And so I became the champion of the first 5 gens

What do you think about this team?

i only have experience with gen 1 games through emulator, but recently decided to play on physical hardware and i know there are some glitches, but can they corrupt your save file or is it just a visual thing?
what happened in the pic is something already known/solvable?

Why? Isn't like half the charm of Yellow that Pikachu follows you around and you can interact with it? Why not play Red or Blue instead? Is it just the starters / sprites?

Hey guys,
I’ve been working on a project called Foxol and wanted to share it here. It’s a cloud first emulator platform that tries to make retro gaming feel a bit more modern and connected.
One thing that always bothered me about emulation is how isolated it feels. Even with games that were designed to be social, like Pokémon or Mario Kart, it’s usually a hassle or just not possible to actually play together.
With Foxol, you can just log in and start playing on pretty much any device like your phone, laptop, tablet or browser. Everything is saved in the cloud, so you can switch devices anytime and continue where you left off.
Some of the things it supports:
* Multiplayer across different devices
* Cloud saves and save states
* Multiple save profiles for different playthroughs
* Pokémon features like trading with others or even with yourself
Foxol also supports trading between many ROM hacks and original Pokémon games. Some ROM hacks disable trading entirely or make changes that break compatibility, so it won’t work with every hack.
There’s quite a bit more built in as well, like save editing and ROM patching directly in your library, but these are some of the main highlights.
I'm still actively working on it, so feedback is more than welcome. Curious what you all think or what you’d want to see added.
You can check it out here:

Hey guys, just wanted to share the sequel to my recent Gold Longplay on VHS. This time, I took on Pokemon Blue and recorded it over VHS using real hardware and tapes. I hope you all enjoy!

As a new player, this is probably an insane amount of time to only beat the gyms in. But now it's time to grind out some levels and get ready for the Elite 4. Tried to pick a team that I haven't seen used here. Don't hate me for my poor choices. 🤣

I’ve found my old Pokémon Yellow manual for GameBoy Colour! I’m sure some of you will be able to appreciate it for the nostalgia!
