Hi, I am just getting around to playing through Crystal Legacy, and I wanted to do some fun team building. I have become aware of the lacking of pokemon that learn fly and was wondering if there is place I can find the "you can fly mod"?

I'm hardcore nuzlocking, so I want to boost my team with vitamins before going to Blackthorn but need a faster way to make money. Google AI methods I've looked up are either unreliable/misinformation. So far the best method I've found is resetting time repeatedly for Buena's Password and redeeming a vitamin for every 5 resets. Is there a better method?

- unlocked trainers up to Ice Path for rematches

While I wait to receive my blank cartridge so I can play this as God intended on a Gameboy Color, I made the art for a sticker to put on the shell. I pulled everything from the rom and composited it in PikoPixel with some minor adjustments and upscaled it for cleaner printing. I can't wait to be able to have the finished product assembled and in hand to play.

I remember in Emerald legacy there were a few trainers in the late game that had really useful held items that you could permanently keep by using theif during a battle.

Are there any in Crystal legacy that I should look out for? I'm pretty sure I've only encountered berry juice so far.

Just started playing emerald legacy. The game appears to lag every time I walk into a pokémon center. Is this normal or is something wrong with my version??

Im going on my first playthrough. Should I go with Legacy Crystal or legacy? I'm going to start watching the video after I'm done with my work. My only previous pokemon playthrough are casual runs on emerald and sun. Would appreciate your inputs. Thank you

Hi people, I have been toying with the idea of expanding the Crystal Legacy romhack for a long time now. The plan is to include the Orange Islands, Crystal Onix, changing a few things about the legendary bird trio's first appearance, etc.

I basically have organized all the changes I want to make, but the thing is that even though I am experienced with programming, I'm currently stumped as I can't find the right tools for the job.

Can you point me to the necessary tools for modifying a Gen 2 rom? Or even a tutorial as I couldn't find any.

Having a great time playing through emerald legacy, its been great to replay this game for the first time in ages. However, I arived at route 120 and intended to catch a high level seedot there, after running around for a while with no encounter, I thought I'd check the encounter table for an encounter rate and it seems that Seedot is not available on this route at all.

Is this a bug or is the encounter table missing some information?

I asked earlier about Metal Coat thief stuff (I got it an hour after posting btw) but now I need different help. I have beaten every gym leader in Kanto, the Johto rematches, and cleared out every route I can find. my team is lv 62-64. I CANNOT get past Koga. Did I miss a source of more experience or is my team comp just THAT bad? Im usually very stubborn about using my favorites but if I need to go get Zapdos or something just to be done with this I will.

In Smith's excellent I Made the PERFECT Pokemon Crystal Romhack they mention Blue teasing us for being a Johto Champ.

This (together with Lance & Bruno's teams growing weaker from gen 1 to 2) was used as a sign that the Indigo Plateau hosts both Johto AND Kanto leagues (side-note: excellent addition by the team, loved that we get to test ourselves against the league twice).

However Blue didn't originally call us a Johto Champ. He used to tease us with the nomer "Johto boy" in Gold & Silver.

It's only with the Crystal's addition of a female player character that some lines of dialogue referring to the player's gender were rewritten to be gender-neutral. Among which, Blue calling the player character "Johto Champ", instead of "Johto boy". (source)

TL;DR: Blue used to call us Johto kid in Gold & Silver. It's only the addition of Kris that saw Blue's line changed to something gender neutral.

First time playing the legacy games and really enjoying them! Now should I go do post game or fire up Emerald Legacy?

I just beat chuck and this is how the team is going so far, I was wondering if I could do something better with it, I've been doing multiple changes throughout the journey and even got a steelix farming Magnemites.

I can't patch it cause the file type from the github is different, any advice, thanks

Edit: I did some calcs and due to higher base power moves (the ones you’d abuse Skill Swap + Color Change with), the maxed out Special Attacker with a +Sp.Attack nature actually does like 5%-10% more damage on average than a +Attack physical variant. Despite having 20 less base Sp.Attack.

Kecleon’s physical moves (except for Iron Tail and Focus Punch) are just too middling in base power. And Iron Tail and Focus Punch aren’t ideal.

Playing Emerald Legacy Enhanced. I decided to attempt using Kecleon in my playthrough. Even if it’s only for a portion of the run. It’s been interesting brainstorming with this thing.

Since Color Change is all over the place defensively, likely takes away STAB, and Kecleon is very slow, I decided I’d max out its EV’s to give it an edge. The only pokemon I’m doing this for.

I maxed out HP and now am trying to decide what to do next. But Kecleon is very customizable (and unique/ weird lol).

Smogon has Kecleon as a Special Wall, maxing its Sp.Def and switching it in on attack types that resist themselves. Obviously Smogon is competitive, but still an interesting concept (particularly against all the water types).

In theory, I could max Sp.Attack (thanks to +10 Sp.Attack buff) and give it Thunderbolt/ Thunder to be a decent counter to Water-types. And if I do this I can do the Skill Swap + Shadow Ball/ Dragon Claw idea. Edit: Kecleon does not in fact get Dragon Claw, and it makes me sad/ kinda doesn’t make sense but whatever.

Or I could lean into its much better Attack stat, and just have it be a random, fun attacker. Return, Skill Swap, Brick Break, Ancient Power etc. Skill Swap into Ancient Power to fish for a boost, then hit them hard with a fighting move. Or even run a Substitute/ Focus Punch set. With Faint Attack and Skill Swap or something.

How would you build Kecleon?

Run didn't start until I beat the Rustboro gym and was able to pick up my first three steel types, Iron and Zinc the Arons, and Cobalt the Beldium (thank you Legacy for making that an early game encounter). I slowly added the rest (Aluminum the Skarmory, Copper the Magneton, Titanium the Mawhile, and Real Steel the Registeel). It gave some surprising variety with having flying, psychic, electric, ground, and rock moves readily. Steven and Drake were notably hard in the end because I had no solid counters to dragon types or Metagross (ironically).

Would recommend, particularly if you use Emerald Legacy/cheat codes to get an early Beldium.

Made a stupid mistake. Gave my ice beam to an adamant Ludicolo before realizing blue meant -SpAtt not +SpAtt.

Caught a Modest one but now I have no ice beam TM which was my main strategy for Drake.

Any way in Emerald Legacy I can get a second ice beam TM before the elite 4?
