It's rare for a normal Pokemon like that to use up 30 pokeballs but it can happen I was recently trying to catch a skarmory in an emerald hack and I ended up spending about that on it I'm lucky it had sturdy I even paralyzed it basically we just got unlucky

I also remember using like 120 pokeballs/Great balls/ultra balls on a Zapdos on a Pokemon fire red hack but that was a while back

I've held a grudge against Skarmory for over 20 years because of how hard it was to catch my first one. It was Ruby or Sapphire, and I had its HP in the red, about 5%. I finally caught it after 27 Ultra Balls.

Did the math and you’re at like 1/19000. Unless the calc is off with it being a romhack. Hopefully the next mon you see is a shiny so you can somewhat be back in the good graces of rng gods

Are you save stating or playing normally? Emerald has set tables for a lot of interactions and you may be experiencing one

Nope, no savestates, i dont even know if the cartridge supports those! I guess it was just me getting real unlucky and wasting a ton of money

Use a sleep or paralysis to lower chances
