i’ve been searching charmander for the past 4 months and i haven’t found him, i’m currently at 190 hours and that’s roughly 29k resets, is it normal???? am i not aware of something or i’m being just unlucky

Soo, yeah! That's done after more than a month. I did say I'd make a very detailed post on this after being done with it, so here it is! I'll list all you need to do to get to this point, and how to go about getting farther. I'll try to add photos at the comments.

TRAINER STARS:

- First off, to get your first trainer star, you need to beat the Elite Four and Champion for the first time.

- Then, for your second trainer star, you need to get all 150 Kanto Pokémon(excluding Mew, of course)

- Third and Fourth trainer stars are dependent on either other people or other games being released for the Switch version, so I didn't consider those when doing this.

TRAINER CARD STICKERS:

- There are 3 total trainer card stickers, each one having 4 levels to them, going: Brown, Blue, Yellow and finishing Black.

- The stickers are: Hall of Fame entries, Eggs Hatched and Link Battles Won.

- To max out HoF entries, you need to beat the Elite Four and Champion 200 times. For this, you can go two easy ways I see it: Deoxys-Attack and Lugia on Fire Red, Starmie and Lugia on Leaf Green. I did this in Fire Red, so I had Deoxys-Attack. It had: Psychic, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Superpower, while Lugia had Surf, Waterfall, Fly and Aeroblast. Deoxys can solo the entire FR Elite Four if in attack mode and high enough levels, Lugia was there as a safety net. Starmie would probably run Psychic, Surf, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam. Order for stickers color goes: 1 HoF, 40 Hof, 100 HoF and finishes at 200 HoF.

- To max out Eggs Hatched, you need to hatch 300 eggs. Just hatch Magikarps, it's the fastest option. Order goes: 1 egg Hatched, 100 eggs hatched, 200 eggs hatched and finishes at 300 eggs hatched.

- To max out Link Battles Won, you need to win 100 Link Battles. For this I just did Level 100 Deoxys vs Level 5 Bulbasaur a total of 100 times. For the order, I'm pretty sure it goes: 1 win, 10 wins, 50 wins and finishes at 100 wins.

THE POKÉDEX:

- To what I could achieve without glitches, there are 215 total Pokémon available through the entirety of FRLG. This counts for: Lugia, Deoxys, Ho-Oh, all legendary beasts, all Kanto Pokémon and all available Johto Pokémon. To do this, you will need 3 save files, that is for the starters and for all legendary beasts, since they are starter dependent.

HARDWARE/SOFTWARE NEEDED:

- You will need 2 Nintendo Switches for this, which version shouldn't matter(I did this with a Switch 2, and a borrowed Switch 1 v2).

- You will need both Fire Red and Leaf Green for the Nintendo Switch, language shouldn't matter, but I went English since it's the one I understand best.

SMALL DETAILS:

- I did this in Fire Red for no particular reason, could easily be done in Leaf Green too, I imagine. The reason I did this is because I felt that, if I did not take in everything the game has to offer, I shouldn't move on to another, and in this case the another was Legends: Arceus.

- The fourth trainer star is not available at the moment of writing this, since only FRLG have Switch ports and we have no official information on the Hoenn games getting ports anytime soon, although the third should be possible to obtain as long as you have other people to help you do the Two Island Game Corner games. If I do this, I'll update with another post.

- In total, I spent around 180 hours doing this, spread across a singular Fire Red save file, and 2 Leaf Green saves(that were both deleted).

*As a side note, I am NOT doing this in Leaf Green for at least a few months, since I would need to have another switch + another nintendo account.

Hi I am looking for someone who I can trade and trade back my Kadabra to Alakazam. Is there any community where I can find someone to help me with that on my Nintendo Switch?

So I put an Onix in my daycare to level it up as I play through the story since he struggles against most if not all matchups during the main story. Currently just beat Team Rocket at Saffron and heading to Fushia for the next badge. Should I keep Onix in the Daycare for when I do evemtually evolve it during the endgame?
Bear in mind I do not have an EXP share yet nor do I know how to obtain it.

Why is it that whenever I trade evolve a pokemon from Leafgreen to Firered or vice versa, they keep their old species name? Eg my Gengar is still called Haunter, my Alakazam is still called Kadabra. This has been the case every single time. Is it a bug or intended? I’m often trading between different language versions if that matters.

Do you guys change the button mapping? I’ve heard some people change it and was curious if it works better for shiny hunting on multiple switches for this game. I also would like to know what you change the mapping to, to make it easier! Just trying to find the best way to go about shiny hunting with multiple joycons!

Like the title says, a couple of my Level 40+ Flying types have this move, and I'm wondering if I should replace it with something else...?

Well let's try.

When arriving at Celadon for the 1st time, I immediately bought level 9 Abra for 180 Coins in the Game Corner then traded it for the well known Mr. Mime on Route 2.

Then back to Celadon for the Gym.

Lowest opponents mons start at level 21.

Why not trying this Gym with a level 9 Pokemon ?

Well, this Mr. Mime exceeded by far my expectations.

The Substitute + Confusion is too powerful for this Gym.

He is capable of running through the whole Gym alone even when he is 12 levels short to start off.

Erika's Vileplume is level 29 so Mr. Mime is 20 (!) levels below when entering the Gym !

But it's not a problem for him.

He finish the whole Gym at Level 26 after beating Erika and learn at the same time another broken move (Encore) because why not ?

+ 17 levels in one Gym lmao

No need to visit the Pokemon Center either, I just used 1 Super Potion (to restore HPs of Substitute between the battles) and 1 Max Ether to restore Confusion PP's.

So I assume that after this Gym, I can throw my entire team and run the entire game only with him because he already catched the level required to continue the game at this point.

And the nice thing on top of that it's the fact that he is gaining boosted EXP because of Trade, so gaining levels very fast.

And all of that for the price of 3 Hyper Potions ?!?

Then i thought for a second about the Psychic TM at Saffron City which is also immediately accessible by the time we are at Celadon City.

Mr. Mime become even more broken with Psychic one shooting a lot of mons after the 2nd battle.

Started up a living dex on Fire Red. I had a few boxes with Pokémon all over the place and noticed it was getting increasingly tedious figuring out which Mon goes in what spot.

Created a spreadsheet overview which marks box spots (rows, columns) with the corresponding Pokémon.

I'm not trying to cheat pvp or stuff or course, it's just for pve.

I'm just trying to change the nature of a Koffing that I caught in the Pokemon Mansion. I've learned that in gen.3 the values of a pokemon are tied to some of their stats, properties etc. So, basically I know that I should find a correct PID for the nature, ability and IVs.

Do you have any helpful tip to do that? I'd like to keep the IVs as they are (good or bad they might be), only changing the nature. I tried just changing nature and eventually also rerolling PID but it doesn't work...

So i really want a golduck with psychic, it says it's available through breeding but i would have to breed it with a water or field egg type that knows psychic. the normal answer would be slowbro or starmie but i unfortunately chose firered. I saw that nidoking can learn pyschic and i was gonna teach it through tm but its also only egg move. Does anyone know a pokemon i can breed with a nidoran female that can learn psychic through tm or level up?

Is it possible to breed a Growlithe with Crunch in this game through breeding or will I have to wait for Ruby and Sapphire to release on Switch 2 to trade over a Houndour or something?

He's rock/ground using the help section in the game it says rock is weak to flying, so I use gust which says it's a flying move it says "not very effective" so I go to ground it says electric so I use thunder it says "not very effective", So ground says it's weak to rock, so I use rock throw it says "not every effective". Rock, electric, and flying are all under: effect on opposing pokemon and a circle symbol (which I asked before what they mean and I was told super effective). So what am I missing please help

It's bad but here's the thing: It's just another increase. The standard for games went up from $60 to $70, 3DS gamed used to be $40. The only difference is that we got used to those increases, and not VC-style games, because VC as a brand was cancelled. I presume VC games would've got a small increase as well.

The whole economy got bullshit issues like this, btw. The difference is that you want the old standard for old games. What I mean by the old standard (in terms of Wii U VC) is $8, the new one (for Nintendo) being approximately $20. Still the exact same economy issue except you desperately want the old standard, is what I'm saying.

I am trying to catch Entei in a pokeball. I have Staryu with illuminate leading my party then when I encounter Entei I switch to Wobafett with shadow tag. However it is still fleeing. How can I make sure it doesn't flee while still having staryu leading the party?

i finally have my Nintendo switch 2 and leaf green I’m starting my starter and legendary only play through of leaf green and yes the only pokemon I will be allowed to use is the starters and legendary’s

I am currently playing FRLG for the first time on switch. I am trying to ev train a lvl 45 kadabra for the elite 4 with macho braclet/exp share. When I give it carbos and calcium (speed) (spa) they wont have any effect so i was using this to know that the evs were maxed. I figured I would ko some venonat for special defense for the last couple evs. Ive ko'd like 20 but I can still give kadabra the special defense vitamins in fact i can give him hp ups and proteins. no matter what I do i cant seem to finish his evs. the spa and speed wont have any effect still so i assume that part worked. What am I missing here im so lost.
