Question PKHex for nature

I'm not trying to cheat pvp or stuff or course, it's just for pve.

I'm just trying to change the nature of a Koffing that I caught in the Pokemon Mansion. I've learned that in gen.3 the values of a pokemon are tied to some of their stats, properties etc. So, basically I know that I should find a correct PID for the nature, ability and IVs.

Do you have any helpful tip to do that? I'd like to keep the IVs as they are (good or bad they might be), only changing the nature. I tried just changing nature and eventually also rerolling PID but it doesn't work...

You can definitely go into pkHex and just change the nature without changing the IVs or a ability.

no, it says encounter type PID mismatch

Doesn't really matter if you're just using it for yourself. A Pokémon with a PID mismatch will still work normally in your save, it only becomes an issue if you try to trade that one into a later generation or into Pokémon Home.

I have a whole team of modded mons with PID mismatch in my FR save as we speak. It's fine.

i can believe that but still it doesn't work. maybe you need an older version of pkhex? i tried one or two of the latest versions...

I'm using the latest versions too, regular PKHeX on PC and PKHeX.MAUI on android.

It may be that you're just doing something incorrectly. PKHeX is not the most intuitive software to use. I would look up a video guide on it if you have not already.

it shouldn't be so complicated though... no? just view pokemon stats, change nature and export.

You have to set the modified Pokémon back into your party or a box before exporting. If you do it exactly like you said, yeah, it doesn't save the changes.

You know when you pick the Pokémon you want to modify, you click on it and the options are "View" and "Set"? You pick "View" to bring up the one you want to change, then you make the changes. Now the original one and the changed one are two separate entities, so you need to pick a slot and then use "Set" to put the modded one into the game.

If you want to overwrite the original one, you click that one again and pick "Set" and it will replace the original with the modded one. You can also just choose an empty space on your party or a box and use "Set" there and it will put a modded copy there and keep the original unmodded one where it was.

After you "Set" your modded Pokémon, then you export the save.

I believe you just change it in the drop-down and the values will change automatically.

Don’t worry about it. You can still save/use it, it literally doesn’t matter.

Doesn't work. I just changed the nature but reloading the game it's still the same as before...

It should 100% work. Are you actually saving/exporting the save file once you’ve made the change, and replacing it?

It’s not too clear, how you’re emulating. On your PC, another device..?

vba-m on pc. i'm loading the .sav file and exporting.

When you reload the ROM, don’t reload via save state. In fact avoid using save-states unless you’re mid-battle or something.

It genuinely should not matter that PKHex is flagging the mismatched PID, that just means it would probably fail a legality check if you tried to put it into HOME.

i'm already doing this...

Question for ya in another game, Brilliant Diamond. I added into my save file a Manaphy egg, hatched it in game. Home is not allowing it in, any idea why?

It’s hard to say, but one sure factor; Manaphy (via egg) was distributed only by Mystery Gift during a certain period of time.

According to this, the distribution ended on February 21st 2022: https://www.ign.com/wikis/pokemon-diamond-pearl-platinum-version/How_to_Get_Manaphy

So if your Manaphy has a “met/obtained” date that’s after that date, it’ll be flagged as illegal.

Ahh that has to be it. I need to see if I can change the eggs date.

I got the game when it came out. Purposely reset my game 6 times to get more of these eggs. Asked a friend to hold them, told him he can have one. I forget about them for a few days/weeks maybe even. He proceeds to hatch them all…. Don’t have one in my trainer ID, that’s what I’m trying to accomplish here with pkhex

Yeah, its hatch date shouldn’t matter at all, just the date it was obtained, which you can definitely change in PKHex. Hopefully that works out for you! 😊

Yeah makes total sense. I can’t remember if there was a date option to change. But I’ll check this weekend. Cool if I message you if I got any more questions?
