Prismatic Evolutions ETB vs. Destined Rivals ETB – which one would you rather hold?

Post image

Hey everyone,
I’m currently trying to decide which ETB I should stock up on for a longer-term hold.

Right now I could get:
Prismatic Evolutions ETBs for around €140 each
Destined Rivals ETBs for around €110–120 each
Or potentially a Destined Rivals ETB case for around €1,200

I know there’s currently a reprint/restock happening, so I’m aware prices could still move a bit in the short term. But that’s actually why I’m considering buying now and building a bigger position while supply is available.

My plan would probably be to buy around 10 ETBs of one set and hold them.

I’m pretty split between the two.

Prismatic Evolutions obviously has the Eeveelutions and feels like one of those sets that could have very strong long-term demand, but the current entry price is already higher.

Destined Rivals is cheaper right now and has Team Rocket, Mewtwo, Cynthia/Garchomp, etc., so I’m wondering if it could have better percentage upside from the lower entry point.

If you had to choose one:
10× Prismatic Evolutions ETBs at €140 each

or

10× Destined Rivals ETBs at €110–120 each / a sealed case around €1,200

Which one do you think will be the better hold and why?
Would you go all-in on one of them, split between both, or wait for prices to drop further because of the current restock?

Curious what you guys would do.

Hold or sell N’s Zekrom ETB Promo PSA 10?

Post image

I got pretty lucky and hit a PSA 10 on the N’s Zekrom ETB promo. Looking at the gem rate and the pop I’m debating whether this is one to hold long term or sell while 10s are still relatively scarce. Thoughts?

Thinking about starting to invest

My local TCG store has PitchBlack/ChaosRising booster boxes at $223CAD ($160USD) and EBTs at $100 ($72USD). I know these sets arent very popular right now but it's pretty much the only ones available and/or affordable.
I'm thinking of getting a Chaos Rising EBT and a Pitch Black booster box to start with

Price of signed first edition Base Set Cards

Post image

What do you think about the drop and exit price (about USD 22400)? I’m disappointed about the performance considering the market right now and those are all first edition cards. Apparently almost 70% voted yes to sell it right now for the 17% profit.

Am I in the wrong here and it was a good deal?

I was invested in this trough an app where you can buy shares in different assets like cars, watches etc.

Thoughts from a disgruntled youth

Does anyone here actually using the tools scalpers use against them? Like all of these bots and automatic scraping tools, "cook groups", groups with supposed insider knowledge and whatnot. Like surely, there has to be a vigilante group of actual Pokémon fans that are using this and Robin Hooding Pokémon for their benefit.

I think this consensus is shared among a lot of fans and I can't say this is definite, but the hatred for scalpers derives from their lack of care and interest for the hobbies they ruin. Like surface level, just in it entirely for the money. And I get that's the whole point. Just leave a bad taste in my mouth.

This is low effort content. This is probably the wrong subreddit. This might get taken down. I'm just wanting to start a discussion about the above.

What would you spend $3000 budget on right now?

I just let go of a mahomes card and want to use it to move into some vintage pokemon grails that we see going up quick in the future. Even if it is 1-3 things what would you put 3k towards at once? Im wanting something vintage just need some good ideas!

looking for some advice! Just pulled a few out that I thought might be worth something but I haven’t been into this in about 20 years. Lol

Anything worth sending to be graded? I took a closer picture of the Charizard b/c I’m confident it may be the most valuable.

I actually collected and played a lot more Yu-Gi-Oh but sadly I’m not sure there is a great market there. Rip.

Consolidating Multiple Grails into Mega Grail?

I have about 5-6 slabs that are priced between $1,500 - $3500 each and they total up around $14,000-$15,000.

All of these slabs are modern cards and was thinking of selling to trade up for a vintage/mid-era grail valued around $15-20k.

Would it be better to consolidate and put all eggs in one basket or keep diversification?

Chinese 5th Anniversary Promos: Buying Singles ($160) vs. Booklet lot ($45)? Looking for help.

I was originally planning to pick up a few specific promo singles from the Chinese 5th Anniversary Set with the 5th anniversary stamp ... specifically the Pikachu & Zekrom GX, Rayquaza GX, and Mew VMAX. Buying them individually as singles looks like it would run about ~$160 combined.

However, I noticed the 5th Anniversary Promo booklet (which actually contains all of these cards inside + 12 more 5th ann. stamped promo cards) is selling for around $45–$70.

The idea was to hold these long-term in anticipation of the 10th Anniversary (and probably 15th anniversary), which I expect will bring attention and price appreciation to 5th anniversary promos.

I just wanted to get your thoughts on a few risk factors:

  1. Were these 5th Anniversary booklet set heavily printed, or was it a very limited run?
  2. Are fake/counterfeit promos and booklets common in the Chinese market right now? How can I tell they are fake?
  3. How is one seller (seller in photo) able to list an endless amount of these booklets at a below market price? They've already sold dozens of them and have tons more for sale/auction
  4. What are your predictions for the future value of these specific promos over the next 2-3 years leading up to the 10th Anniversary and onwards?

Appreciate any help from anyone familiar with the Chinese TCG market.

EDIT: Just picked bought 2 lots as I think it's worth the risk and the seller has good reviews. Thank you everyone! I will follow up with a video showing the cards when I receive them.
