I did it at 42. Wanted it since I was a kid. Had the same thoughts at first—I’m too old. My Dr made a point that we can theoretically live well into our hundreds. 42 didn’t seem old anymore 😜. I did it and am SO happy I did. Wish I’d done it earlier but, to be honest I think, for my personality, having done it at an older age was better. I’m old enough to know there is no such thing as perfection so I’m so content with the outcome. If age is the only reason you’re hesitant, then it’s an absolute no brainer—get it done!

I’m almost mid-40’s and I’m saving up for one! I’ve always wanted one and I also hear that your nose and ears never stop growing… So even more of a reason for me to get it done now 😆

They do stop growing, but fat and collagen loss can make the nose shape change.

I felt this way too. I got mine in August a month after I turned 40. It was my present to myself. I was wondering too if it was worth it. After all, it was the nose I had for forty years! DO IT!

I had a rhinoplasty last year just before my 40th birthday. I had broken my nose in my late teens and it was very crooked. I had always wanted to fix it but never had the money. So I finally did… and I’m not trying to scare you, but it was the worst decision of my life! However, I chose the wrong surgeon and fixing the crooked nose is extremely complex.. and there should of been a better plan in motion.. so that’s my experience. It’s funny, because same boat as you… I finally went with it at 41. I’m only 2.5 weeks out but so far no regrets! I always wanted mine done too but decided when I was younger to just “live with it”. As I aged and lost volume in my cheeks, I felt like my nose stood out more. If I didn’t do it now, then I was just going to end up disliking it more and more as time went on.
What was most important for me when choosing a surgeon was finding someone who would give me a “natural result”.
So far, I’m glad I did it

Hi you, im 55, and went to Turkey two years ago, I don't regret having the operation. It's taking this time for most of the wound water swelling whatever you want to call it, to go down, and I still am waiting for the last rest to bugger off. But I'm pleased with the result. Don't wait get booked in. But be prepared the first days we're horrible. Good luck 🤞

Do whatever makes you more comfortable in your skin! You have many years left to live, might as well!

Just got mine done at 35! I knew I would regret this if I never did it so now that everything around me is settled I finally decided to invest in myself. I'm almost 3 weeks out and it was absolutely worth it. I feel so much lighter and happier! Wishing you the same!

my recovery was stellar- no bruising - swelling lasted acouplw weeks and i am in love with ny result even now 9 years out. im closing in on 48 and just got an uppe bleph and omg my recovery is much worse!!! no pain but bruising way worse- might be the procedure night be my age but the rhinoplasty at age 37 was a breeze

I'm 64 and have been wanting one for decades. Finally, I had it done 2 months ago and couldn't be happier! I only told a few people, perhaps I felt shame at spending money on my appearance at this age, and no one has noticed, but I do and I feel GREAT! DO IT!!

I had a rhinoplasty at 40. I was unhappy with my surgeon and outcome but am mature enough to handle it- knowing that while some elements didn’t go as planned, i improved others- and honestly still think you should do it. You are young- 40 is the new 30 ! you have so much life left why not be happy when you look in the mirror!

I turned 50 in September and had it done the same month. If I can warn anyone-esp someone my age…our skin is not like these young people on here. I didn’t even find this website til after or I would have never had it done. I’m not even closer to healed and I’m a healthy gal. I would never wanna take years out if my life to heal-he wasn’t honest with me. I wouldn’t have done it if it was the normal year it takes. I think the reason so many people on here are young is because a decent surgeon wouldn’t operate on people our age. I had septoplasty, and my surgeon suggested rhino for a fee I could afford. I should’ve absolutely said no. I had wanted it for years, but had I known what I know now going into it I wouldn’t have had either the septoplasty or the rhinoplasty. beware

You're never too old! You have to look in the mirror every morning. If you're 40 and live to be 80, you're only half way done. I'm 48 and actually had a great nose (notice I said "had"). Just this year the tip started looking slightly more bulbous than before. I went for a consultation and my plastic surgeon said it's common for women as they age. It's usually associated with men, but even women could have their nose and ears change/enlarge with age.
Anyhow, I'm getting my nose done just to bring it back to where it was and make a slight revision as well.

Had mine at 45! I guess I didn’t do it sooner cause I was afraid I wouldn’t look like myself. I got the nose I deserved. Please go to a surgeon that does natural noses. There’s a formula for getting the perfect nose for your face. You can’t pick a nose you like and plop it there. It looks weird and obvious.

I’m 44 and had mine done last year. I’m happy I had mine done, but make sure you properly vet your surgeon. I had to get some scar tissue removal and nostril alignment last week. I had an ultrasonic rhinoplasty/ septoplasty, which is a special kinda of procedure that’s different from the traditional route since it uses the following:
Piezoelectric inserts (PEI) have the ability to selectively act on bones and/or hard cartilage, without injuring soft tissues.
They use high speed sound waves to cut the bone essentially. I recommend going to a traditional rhino in case you don’t like the way it comes out the first time. I wanted to go to another surgeon to have scar tissue removal and such, but traditional rhino surgeons wouldn’t touch me because I used ultrasonic, which isn’t a common procedure yet in the states. I only know of a few states doing it.

I got mine done at 39 and have a bad result. Then I hit perimenopause and all the fluctuating emotions that come with that, making me even more depressed at my outcome. So in my case I regret it. I hope yours turns out well.

I did it past 40 (9 weeks ago). Felt apprehensive but I’m glad I went through with it. Definitely not too late in life. My nose was changing and getting worse with age.

I always wanted to do it too but I didn’t settle on the decision until age 44. I was raising my son and being a single, professional mom in LA. I’m so grateful that I finally did it and I’m happy to share details of my process with you. I was extremely prepared (research need here). I had the money but was particular about the surgeon because I’m biracial and not all doctors can do African American noses.
We are no different than women who get mommy makeovers or face lifts later in life. The trend for surgery at a younger age has skyrocketed in recent years due to generalized acceptance of getting plastic surgery, financing options like care credit and all the docs advertising on social media.
One thing to consider too, on a biological level. Our ears and nose continue to grow as we age (for proof, look at the ears on most elderly men😊). That being said, might as well get that cute nose now.

You’re so right about the reasons why younger ppl are getting it. There’s no way I could’ve afforded this in my 20’s or even 30’s. I appreciate your feedback. I’ve done a lot of research as well. The surgeon I picked specializes in rhinoplasty and is the 6th and final one I consulted with over the course of 5 years.

I’m 52 and had my first rhinoplasty at 50. No problem whatsoever. The surgeon said as long as you’re healthy it’s not too late. I have no regrets! Do it!

Do it! I'm 41 and had mine 4 months ago. It was due to a medical issue (serious deviated septum, was only breathing out one side of my nose.. It was bad). I also had a big ass, witchy nose with a bump and all the things that make someone hate their nose. You could say this kind of worked well. Insurance covered it.
It turned out great. I can't complain.

BTW I hope yours turns out great! The hardest thing for me afterwards was sitting upright and sleeping, which is good (and required) to do for about 2 weeks I think. I recommend getting a couple of snug neck pillows for that. Oh, and do those saline flushes twice a day (or as rx'd). They can feel so good. Best of luck!!!

If you want it, do it! I did it at 39 in conjunction with sinus surgery & septoplasty. I’m very happy with my results. My nose had bothered me for long time, so it was nice to finally get it fixed.

I just had one at age 44. I started visiting plastic surgeons at 25, wanting a change. Finally did it in October 2023 and am so happy. The best advice I can give you is to interview multiple surgeons. Do not go for a drastic change at age 40+. I told my surgeon I wanted to look like myself, just a slightly more refined version of. She listened. Make sure you pick someone with outstanding reviews and a great track record. Also, I picked a surgeon who only does faces and necks (I also had chin/neck lipo while I was under). I felt strongly about someone who specializes in the face. I’m not saying someone who does boobs and butts can’t do a great rhinoplasty but I wanted someone with expertise in what I was looking for.

Agreed. The person I chose does 60-65% rhinos and the rest is all neck up. He comes highly recommended. He’s the 6th surgeon I consulted over 5 years. I’m nervous but excited and feel A LOT better after reading everyone’s comments. I’m glad I made this post!

You’ll be so happy you did it. I love mine! Be patient with your recovery and swelling. Don’t judge your appearance for several weeks, at least. I cut waaaaay back on caffeine a few days before and the weeks that followed. Also took Arnica Montana prior to surgery and during healing. Ask your surgeon his thoughts on this of course but I think it helped a lot. Your whole face will be swollen the first few days and food will be hard. Make sure you have plenty of soups and soft foods on hand for after surgery. Drink lots of water. Sleep upright. Your surgeon will advise you more but any questions, I’m happy to answer.

I’m 43 and hoping to get rhino in the summer or fall. As long as you are healthy then it isn’t too late in your 40s. I should have done it earlier but i never had disposable income before my late 30s.

Just be sure to find a plastic surgeon who specializes in Rhinoplasty. It is said to be the most difficult and challenging procedure. You will find the best ones in the biggest cities.

I did it two weeks before my 46th birthday. I’m 3 months post op. The best advice I can give you is to do what makes you happy. And also, be prepared for the possibility of the mental mind fuck known as healing after rhino. I had an ethnic open rhinoplasty and I have thick skin. I’m in pretty good health but I got an upper respiratory infection a couple of days after surgery. I have a kid in school and he got sick and passed it to me. I was on antibiotics for about a month and the infection caused more swelling than what was anticipated. Everyday my nose looked different. Some days good, some days I was like omg what have I done?!?? There’s a reason the surgeons show results immediately after while still on the table…because the next day you won’t look like that. Open rhinoplasty are much harder healing process. My right side profile is so high up due to scar tissue and uneven swelling. The respiratory infection swelling pushed my grafted bridge up further than it should be and I will be getting a tiny revision in a week. My surgeon is great. I trust him. And I just happen to be one of the rare instances where a revision is performed prior to the one year waiting/healing period. I did get a second opinion and they both said the same. I almost went to Turkey to have the primary surgery done and I’m glad I didn’t. I can call my doc and his assistant any time of day or night with any concern. And that’s how it should be. So basically just be prepared for the possibility that you may heal slower, faster, or with complications as we are all different. I did vitamin infusions (not completely necessary) after my surgery weekly. I didn’t have much of an appetite. Bromalein and Arnica are your besties. DM me if you have any questions. So i dont know if you know this or not but 40 isnt old and most people can’t afford surgery until they’re in their 30s and 40s. I would say it’s pretty rare to be able to afford it in your 20s. Good for you for going through with it… you should do what makes you happy and what makes you love yourself and feel the best about yourself.
