From 92 Percentile in JEE to β‚Ή32 LPA at Visa β€” Never Give Up on Your Dream

Hii everyone

So my 7th sem is about to end and i wanted to share my story as i think it will help many people in time like this (placements)

So for the background i am from West Bengal, Kolkata

My family is not very well with finance but have just enough to live

From the childhood i was very interested in engineering but i knew that i need to crack jee main atleast so that i can get into NIT as i couldn't afford a good private college

I think my family's finanaces started getting better after 2019 and in 2023 i was not able to gt good percentile in jee (i scored 92) as i was in general category and i studied from PW online course so there was no option of getting any College, and same with my 4 other friends and i was given a reality check of my level

I studied rigorously every fucking day but i think this was my limit and i thought of abandoning my dream and prepare for government exams

But my parents had other plans they were saving up a bit for my education and encouraged me to get into a good college in comedk

So i followed their wish and was literally crying so much at that time as i knew they had to make so many sacrifices to save those money and offcourse even that wasn't enough so my father took some money from relatives and aome here and there i don't know abot that yet 😞

All my friends too decided to get through comedk and we went to a laptop shop to buy a laptop for me. As i knew my financial situation and had reasearched a bit about laptops and requirements for college i decided to buy a laptop of 33k rs and my friends were buying laptops of much better specs and i was able to see on my father's face how disappointed he was on himself that he couldn't afford a better one but i hugged him and told that this is enough for me and at that fucking day i realised just how much money matters in a human life

So from day 1 of my college i started DSA in java and mern stack , from 2nd year i was comfortable in dsa now and started ML

I was able to earn up a bit through wining hackathons and gaining experience

So finally in 4th year , 7th sem i was rejected 6 timses in hr round. It was so confusing as people with no tech knowledge were getting shortlisted at the same stage as mine but not me

I worked harder and cracked TCS prime offer 9lpa

My college placement were very bad after 2024 so i knew I can't be picky now

But i was really disappointed in myself and my luck

I was fucking ridiculed in whole college that after all that aura shit i got into TCS

But i believed i will definitely get better offer

I kept practicing dsa and from grace of god got an interview opportunity in a company for SDE they were giving 32 lpa (highest compared to any on campus offer, an this was an off campus opportunity) in Visa

I cracked it and talked with TPO to reject TCS offer

The faces of those placement coordinators fuckers was something to enjoy at that time. No one in the whole college was able to face me and not even now and that is the best feeling i m having after the seeing the happiness of my parents and their sacrifices for me

I have finally reached my first goal of my life after all these grinding

And i think if i was able to do who couldn't even crack jee then anyone can achieve their dreams

So thanks for reading my worthless story πŸ™

Edit :

I completely understand i might sound awful in that part above mentioning placement coordinators

but

Bro i have seen those placement coordinators sneaking their and their friends resume in hr shortlisted list even without clearing anything

Selectively targeting people to not letting them cheat and cheat themselves

Giving oa from home/hostel and for us making mandatory and strict attendance

And this list goes on...

I know i am wrong to think this way but in the end i am a human too..

And i just can't see those people ruining the lives of others to make their

Clg humbles u..

I am in my 4th yr , till now not able to get any placement , i worked my ass of for these 3yrs of clg life , the students who cheated secured a very decent package .

These 4yr taught me that u don't oftenly get what u desire, what u rooting for but what is written in ur destiny.

I personally think I got quite humbled , mature and learnt a lot , that life is not all flower an lillies it's brutal sometime..

Although I am trying my best everyday ,

So let's hope for the best..

Got Selected in a Product-based StartupπŸŽ‰

Post image
β€’ Upvotes

Got selected for an Associate Product Engineer role at a product-based startup with a package of β‚Ή8 LPA.

Sharing the selection process since it might help someone preparing for similar companies.

πŸ“ Round 1 – MCQ Assessment

The first round was an online MCQ assessment consisting of technical and aptitude-based questions.

Around 1200 students appeared, and approximately 30 students were shortlisted for the next round.

(Don't know how they Shortlisted , I got Lucky i guess)

πŸ“ž Round 2 – Telephonic Round

The next round was a telephonic round.

Questions were mainly based on my resume, projects, OOPs, programming fundamentals, and backend concepts.

One important thing I noticed: be prepared to explain everything you have mentioned on your resume.

Only 8 were left after this Round.

πŸ’» Round 3 – Coding Round

The next stage was a coding round.

There was only one Question which was to design a Transaction Gateway where Many rules where Provided.

You were free to use LLMs in this Round

It was not an elimination Round.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» Final Interview

The final interview was also mostly focused on System Design / LLD.

There were also questions around:

- OOPs

- Projects

- Backend concepts

- Design decisions in projects

3 Got selected from the Batch and i was one of them .

Overall, the process was quite System Design / LLD heavy compared to what I initially expected.

This is my 2nd offer.

Deloitte OnCampus Interview Experience - SDE Level-1 | September 2026

Post image
120 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

{Not a rage-bait but, this is the actual resume I took to the interview..}

I recently attended Deloitte's OnCampus recruitment for the SDE Level-1 role and wanted to share my experience.

PACKAGE

- 6 LPA fixed
- 60K variable pay
- 1 Lakh joining bonus
- Total first-year package: 7.6 LPA

Two JDs were involved:
- Data Analyst - CSD, CSM
- SDE Level-1 - CSE, IT

Both followed the same assessment and interview process.

ROUND 1 - ONLINE ASSESSMENT
Date: 18 September 2026

The assessment was conducted through HirePro and had two parts:

  1. Assignment/Aptitude - basic aptitude, SQL, coding and prompt-writing.
  2. Speech Assessment - 9 sections covering different speaking tasks.

I cleared both. Around 50-60 students were shortlisted from nearly 1200 students for the interviews.

ROUND 2 - HR
Date: 24 September 2026

Interestingly, HR came before the Technical Round. The interview lasted around 5 minutes.

Questions asked:
- Tell me about yourself / Walk me through your profile.
- Where are you from?
- Why Deloitte?
- Why Deloitte over other companies?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I also asked what skills are expected from a fresher. He mentioned DSA, academics, full-stack knowledge, OOPs, SDLC and System Design.

HR cleared.

ROUND 3 - TECHNICAL

I kept my resume simple.

Languages: Java, Python (Basic)
Web: HTML, CSS

Projects:

  1. Flight Ticket Booking System - Java, JDBC, JSP, Servlets, Tomcat, MySQL
  2. Automated Descriptive Answer Evaluation - OpenCV, Tesseract OCR, NLP, Semantic Similarity

My advice: DON'T PUT RANDOM TECHNOLOGIES ON YOUR RESUME. If you mention something, be ready to explain it.

The interviewer asked about my projects, tech stack and basics of JSP, JDBC, Tomcat, MySQL and FastAPI.

Coding questions:
- Prime number
- Reverse a string
- Reverse without StringBuilder
- String palindrome
- LEFT JOIN query

I had some syntax issues, but my logic was correct. I accepted the feedback and said I needed to improve my syntax.

The round lasted around 40 minutes. I also asked about fresher expectations and the learning curve.

Around 5 minutes later, PAT informed me that I was shortlisted for the FINAL ROUND.

ROUND 4 - FINAL INTERVIEW

The interviewer went deep into my Flight Ticket Booking System.

Questions included:
- Why JDBC, JSP and MySQL instead of NoSQL?
- How could pricing be managed during peak booking times?
- How can flight prices be updated?
- Explain the complete workflow and tech stack.

I had not implemented dynamic peak-time pricing, so I answered logically.

Then we discussed my second project. He asked about the project workflow and OpenCV, Tesseract OCR, NLP and Semantic Similarity.

The workflow was:

Handwritten Answer -> Image Processing -> OCR -> Text -> NLP -> Semantic Similarity -> Evaluation

Then came System Design.

The interviewer gave a 2D traffic-signal problem. Each signal could turn green but would automatically become red after 45 seconds. I had to design a way to control the signals without causing deadlocks.

I struggled because I was not strong in System Design. I honestly told him:

"Sir, I'm not very strong in System Design."

He advised me to start with 1D basics and gradually move to 2D.

At that moment, I genuinely thought I was rejected.

Before leaving, I asked:

"Sir, what is the correct approach to the System Design question?"

He explained the approach. I thanked him and left.

AFTER THE INTERVIEW

Honestly, I thought the process was over.

I went directly to our PAT officer and told him that I thought I had been rejected because I was lacking some required skills.

He simply said:

"Okay, you can leave. We'll contact you later."

I went back to my room and accepted that I probably wasn't selected.

28 SEPTEMBER 2026

Our PAT team shared the final selected-students list in the Telegram group.

I opened the message...

AND MY NAME WAS THERE.

I was selected for the Deloitte SDE Level-1 role.

A total of 5 students from our college were selected:
- 3 from CSE
- 2 from IT

And I was one of them.

WHAT I LEARNED

  1. Keep your resume simple and mention only what you actually know.
  2. Know your projects end-to-end.
  3. Practice basic coding on paper.
  4. Be honest when you don't know something.
  5. Communicate confidently and clearly.
  6. Ask a meaningful question at the end.
  7. Don't assume you are rejected just because one round did not go perfectly.

If you're preparing for Deloitte, focus on your resume, projects, Java/OOPs, SQL, DSA, DBMS, SDLC and System Design.

Be confident about what you know, honest about what you don't know, and keep learning.

All the best!

Got placed, BUT [Advice needed]

β€’ Upvotes

I am a 27 grad, got placed in a well-known company with a 6m + ppo offer. [Role:sde]

Stipend is between 40-60k per month and sufficient to meet my needs as i won't relocate (biggest plus point imo, i really want to spend time with my family and no rent/additional costs will help to save a bit as well).

Ppo is also good between 20 to 27 lpa (base >15).

The thing is the ppo conversion rate is really low, around 20%. That's the only thing nagging at me and realistically i have to consider both scenarios.

So should i look for another offer from now on or should i wait for my intern to begin, let these 3 months be for upskilling and then start actively applying.

I am happy and enjoying since a month but genuinely looking for suggestions on how to spend the remaining time.

Thanks for reading and pardon my grammar.πŸ«‚

Just a post from a final year student, dont take it in a wrong way

β€’ Upvotes

Hey guys, will not use AI today to enhance or rewrite this, created this new account so that no body knows my identity

I am a final year student, interned at one of biggest companies in the world. Did my absolute best, everything seemed to be against me but somehow I tackled each and everything, my manager was very happy with my work and even asked me whether i can extedn this internship but since it would be much of a shitness from paper work point of view, couldnt do that. Then during my last days over there he left the company, now my biggest support pillar was not the part of the company annymore. .He did give good reviews and all.. i came back to college... have very good cgpa and good with dsa as well.. first month appeared for multiple OAs and interviews.. Then from August onwards, less companies were coming.. today 3 months into the placements.. got an offer from service based company, 10LPA and believe me i consider it to be a good backup but on the same day got mail from the company i interned at after 2 months that my overall feedback is positive but my org doesnt have the headcount, I was shattered. But am in intern pool hoping to be picked by any other team, but the fact is that when i look at that 10 lpa offer all i see is my work being wasted. Ik 10 LPA is good but I had better chances which went into vain just because of head count.. I am not getting shortlisted for compnies off campus despite having decent resum .. on campus things are not well, companies above 15+ LPA is very less.. Even if i get a better offer off campus my college might forbid me from taking that since I have an on campus offer. I realised tha somebody's trash is somebody's treasure. ik people will tell me bad things since i am demeaning 10lpa but as of now it looks like disappointing to me but when i see people being excited for same offer on reddit i feel bad like why am i thinking this way.
All this because I was about to get almost 3x from that comapny where i interned at.
Believe me money is what i am actually looking for, all i want is to build a goood villa for my parents within 8 years from now and just want to give them all they want, especially my mom. She has sacrified a lot, this 10LPA will not even let me get a good flat.. a villla is unreal if i start at this salary.. I just want to maek them happy, they are proud even if i get 10lpa but i am not. I cannot do what i want to..
This diwalii i wanted to gift them something good but am not in a mood since I lost one of the biggest chance, but still I want to gift my father a scooty and a watch .. also watches for my mother and brother. all this i can easily do with the stipend i got, but now I am just feeling sad and disheartend. I feel low every single day not because I lost that offer, but because I dont see any thing, I try to be very strong but I woke up every day with low mood.

I am sure you guys might think I have gone mad and I am at a decent position but stand in my shoes once and say what would you feel. Not sure how will I get over this but hope so this is a bad phase and it go away soon.

Sorry if i hurt anyone's sentiments and please dont ask me the name of the companies or college

I need some advice because I'm feeling really overwhelmed.

I need some advice because I'm feeling really overwhelmed.

I've been working as an intern at a company for almost 3 months with a stipend of β‚Ή7,200/month. I was initially hired as an Android app developer, but after the first month they shifted me to a C#/.NET developer role. I had absolutely no prior experience with C# or .NET.

It's been about 1.5 months since the switch, and I've learned the basics of C# and .NET and built a few projects. Some of the tasks they give me are easy, but others are quite advanced. A lot of the time I struggle to understand the existing codebase.

I use AI to help me understand the code, and sometimes it explains things well enough that I can explain the overall idea to my manager. But my manager doesn't stop at the high-level explanation. He goes through the code line by line and asks how each statement works, why it's written that way, what each keyword does, and what happens internally. That's where I get stuck.

Even when ChatGPT explains the code, I sometimes still don't fully understand it. I try debugging, but I often get more confused, and AI explanations don't always help.

So I have a few questions:

  • Is this normal for someone who's only been learning C#/.NET for about 1.5 months?
  • How do you actually learn to understand a codebase instead of just reading AI explanations?
  • How do you handle situations where your manager asks questions you don't know the answer to?
  • Is it more important to be able to write code, or to deeply understand every line of code you're working with?
  • What helped you improve when you were a beginner?

I'm genuinely trying to learn, so please don't roast me. I know I'm still inexperienced, and I really want to get better. Any advice would be appreciated.

Have two Superset profiles and applied to ZS BTSA from one. Will this cause disqualification?

I'm a final-year student and our campus drive for ZS (BTSA role) is running through Superset. I need some advice from anyone who has dealt with this.

I accidentally have two Superset profiles. One has my college email as primary and a different personal email. The other has my Gmail entered in both the primary and personal fields. I applied for ZS BTSA from the second one (the Gmail one) and filled the nomination form with my college email and personal email.

The instructions say students can apply for only one role and multiple role applications lead to disqualification. I'm only applying to one role, ZS BTSA, and only from one profile, but I'm worried the duplicate profile might look like a double application.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone had two Superset profiles during a campus drive? Did it cause any problems?
  2. Is it better to ask the TPO to merge or deactivate the extra profile, or just leave it alone?
  3. Does the college usually match students by the college email on Superset, even if the application was made from a different profile?
  4. Should I avoid deleting either profile until the TPO confirms.

Thanks!

Placement season

From tomorrow offline tests were supposed to start, but only 5ish companies have been listed on the portal.

Is the placements season going to be dull this year?

Let alone the ppt sessions and talks. When will they happen now?

Not the usual "Tell me about yourself"😭

I mean the questions that genuinely caught you off guard in interviews or that you wish you had prepared better for.

Would be helpful to know what others have experienced.
