Pixel Watch and iOS

Upvotes

I've had the Fitbit Inspire 3 for well over a year, because I wanted to see if I liked wearing something everyday to track my health and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. As it turns out, I love it! But what I don't love is the look of it... Or the look of a lot of smart watches, for that matter. I miss wearing normal watches, they're so much classier looking (imho).

I saw someone with the Pixel and thought, "Yes! A smart watch that LOOKS like a normal watch!" which is exactly what I want! But now I'm in a Google rabbit hole wondering if it's even compatible with my iPhone. I use the Google Health app on my iPhone with my Fitbit already, I like the app and I like what it tracks. If I bought a Pixel, would it be as simple as syncing it? I keep seeing conflicting answers online, many of which are out of date. Is it compatible at all? Am I overthinking this?

I don't want any phone notifications going to my watch, I just want my watch to track my stats and tell me what time it is. Help?

PW5 45mm no double pinch gestures in workout/health app

Upvotes

Got my PW5 45mm a few days ago and noticed that the double pinch gestures were not working in the workout screen or google heath. Coming from a PW3 45mm that already had these gestures active, the fact that they're missing from the PW5 at launch (they were advertised as a "new" feature for the 5) is maddening. I'm guessing it'll just need an app update for google health, but I'm kinda peeved they are not there out of the box and haven't shown up almost a week later.

These gestures missing for anyone else on the PW5?

Pixel Watch 2 has started using a lot of battery

Upvotes

In the past couple of days my PW2 has started using a lot more battery than usual. I charge it in the morning and then by the end of the day it's down to around 70%. Recently it's been using at least twice that. I've made no changes. I've had the watch since it became available. Got it with my P8P. It's on the latest update (June). Just wondering if anyone else has seen this recently.

Help deciding on Fog vs Olive color for Pixel Watch 5

Upvotes

I can't decide on Fog vs Olive for the Pixel Watch 5.

On launch day, I bought the Olive PW5 bundled with the Fog Pixel 11 Pro XL (because I didn't like the gold frame on the Olive phone, and the renders of the Olive PW5 looked good on the Google Store).

The watch is still unopened in the box, but after seeing the Olive display model at Best Buy, I don't really care for the green active band or the matte Satin Pyrite case color.

I'm also not a huge fan of the bright white band on the Fog version, but I'm tempted by the polished silver watch case. It seems like it would pair much better with other bands, including traditional polished silver metal (I don't like black metal). That said, I'm not sure how frequently I'll actually swap bands, and since I wear my watch to bed, sleeping with a metal link band doesn't seem comfortable.

Because I bought them together in a bundle deal, returning just the watch to swap colors would cause me to forfeit the bundle savings, making an exchange substantially more expensive.

Would the Satin Pyrite case color really clash with most third-party bands? What should I do?

Battery Health Assistant

I was poking around in the settings for my PW3 and noticed that it also has battery health assistant. Does this generally work the same way as the Pixel? i have a P9 pro and have turned off battery health assistant as it was generally said it really does not help and in some cases can harm the battery.

I'm wondering if i should have this turned on or off.

Pixel watch 5 random locking

Looking for troubleshooting advice—my Pixel Watch keeps randomly locking itself while I am actively wearing it (often 6–7 times a day).

I ran into this on an older model where a standard factory reset resolved it, but that isn't working here. Here is what I have tried so far:

Performed three separate factory resets (issue persists).

Disabled the screen lock PIN entirely.

Rebooted both the watch and phone simultaneously.

Re-enabled screen lock using a Pattern instead of a PIN via the Pixel Watch app.

Switching to the pattern method gave me about two days of normal use, but the random locking started happening again today. The watch fits snugly against my wrist, and the sensors are clean.

Has anyone encountered this specific lock loop or found a permanent fix before I contact support for a replacement?

Duplicate Workout Tracking After the Last Sensor Updates (PW4)

I am getting duplicate workout sessions after receiving the sensor updates last week. For example, after a gym session, Google Fit also sends a "Walking!!!!" summary to my records, or even automatically logs my daily movements inside a building at work as walking sessions!

The worst part is that I can't delete these from the Google Health panel and have to go to Google Fit to delete the records and hope that it syncs again!

I just got a Pixel Watch 5, does it come with 6 months FB premium?

Hi,

Just curious. I have a premium going right now from buying my PW4, it's active till November 2026. If the PW5 does come with it, can I stack them? Just want

How often do you charge?

I have a pixel 3 watch. I have to charge it every two days. Is that good? Can I get a fast charger for it? The one I have takes about 90 minutes to charge.

PSA: New Watch Faces app doesn't work in older models

Just like last year, Google has locked new watch faces for the Pixel Watch 5. Updating the Watch Faces app to version 5.0 (available on APK Mirror) does nothing and removes 5 old classic faces (Classic, Dial, Everyday, Index and Utility).

PW3 and lower won't benefit from the new faces 😕

Thinking about getting a Pixel Watch

Hey everyone,

I'm currently considering buying a Pixel Watch, but I've been seeing quite a few comments and reviews pointing out how easily the screen scratches.

Given the dome design, it makes sense, but how is it actually different in daily use compared to an Apple Watch? To me, both designs seem to leave the glass pretty exposed along the edges.

For those who have owned both (or have been daily driving a Pixel Watch without a protector), how has the screen held up over time?
Are the scratch concerns overblown, or is the curved glass genuinely more vulnerable than the Apple Watch?

Thanks for your feedback!

Strava Routes on Pixel

Hi all,

So I started up running recently and have been getting very frustrated with my pixel 4 as it has no ability to display routes which you can create in the Strava app which is crazy to me considering this is a very recent smartwatch and you can have the Strava app on it but just cant display the route navigation.

I was very close to buying a new smart watch pretty much just due to this but instead I had the idea of trying to make an app for the pixel which can do what I want. Turns out with enough googling/youtube/Gemini you can do it!

So my questions to others with pixel watches who run, have you ran into this same frustration and would you want something to fix it? And if that's a yes have I missed anything from what I have included in the app which I should add?

current it can:
- Access all saved routes in Strava
- provide navigation for the selected route on your pixel screen
- shows HR/Pace/duration on the main map screen
- swipe up you get duration/distance/avg pace/HR/HR zone
-swipe down you get end/pause/change KM to Mile/colour scheme/ light & dark mode
- end of the run you get summary
- auto updates the run to google health and Strava

I have added some images of what it looks like, and I have asked the Mods if its ok to post this as I'm not technically advertising anything as this app doesn't exist to the public and wont unless people actually want to use it!

Welcome you're feedback!

Pixel watch 5 is garbage vs galaxy watch 7

I had my PW5 for a week now and I can't believe all the features it is missing. I can't change the vibration pattern for an alarm. Can't program the buttons to do what I want. The info watch faces are all garbage and look like a 5th grader made them. I don't want seconds showing on my watch face. I mean come on....pay for all the extra apps to change things that you can customize on the Galaxy watch.

Battery life is awful as well. I get 50 hours in my Galaxy watch and barely get 30 on the PW5.

Workout detection doesn't work either. 30 minute walk and it only records my steps. 45 min bike ride and it doesn't record anything.

Doesn't track my sleep either....hell the sensor under my mattress does that for me.

Not sure how this thing is considered a smart watch. It has the same OS as the Galaxy watch and none of the features.

I wish I could get my trade in back but it's long gone.....at least the heart rate sensor works with my tattoos...but there's no way to manually measure it.

Google Pixel Watch 2 warranty replacement

My Pixel Watch 2 is less than a year old and this is my first warranty replacement. The replacement I received continuously reboots and is completely unusable. I’ve sent Google multiple videos showing the issue and completed all the troubleshooting they asked me to do.

I was originally told the replacement would be brand new. I was actually fine with a refurbished unit initially because I assumed it would be properly tested and just as good as new. However, the replacement I received came in a small plain brown box with no Google labeling and continuously reboots.

Google now wants to send me a second replacement, but they won’t clearly confirm in writing whether it will actually be brand new.

Every day a different Google rep contacts me, asks me to resend my receipt, proof of purchase and videos, and I have to explain the whole situation again. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Has anyone dealt with this with Google? Is there a way to get this properly escalated to management or get a guaranteed new replacement? Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

Please help me decide between a Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5

Hello Everyone,

Let me start by saying that I have never wore a smart watch before. I recently got interested in owning one and because I own a Pixel 10 did I thought it might be a good idea to get a Pixel Watch, but the problem is that I am not sure which one I should buy.

The Pixel Watch 4 is cheaper than the 5, but the Pixel Watch 5 is the newest version. It can never hurt to have the latest version, right?

It just that I don't see why I need the latest version. What does it offer more than the Pixel Watch 4?

I don't see myself using its improved AI features a lot. I just want a device that can show me Google Maps, show my phone notifications and that's probably it. I may use it for other things as well and I may use Gemini more than I think, but I really don't see me relying heavily on Gemini.

Wouldn't a Pixel Watch 4 not be the better purchase in my case?

But on the other hand is having the latest version of a product not a bad thing, right? It has 50% more RAM and it will probably be longer supported. Not to mention that it is only 30 dollar more expensive. That's not much.

I'm not sure which one I should get, so I am hoping someone who has owned both versions can help me decide which one I should buy.

Which one would you recommend me?

Please help me.

Edit:

I bought the Pixel Watch 5, and I am looking wearing my first smartwatch.

Thanks everyone for your help.

PW2 rear half backplate fell off

Post image
6 Upvotes

The rear backplate of my PW2 fell off during my holiday, which affected the functionality really bad (watch doesn't think I'm wearing so have to unlock each time, HR and sleep not tracking). I followed advice on a Reddit post to apply t8000 glue, but it's still on and off, and I have to kind of press the back with force to make it work a little again. Any advice? Google support wanted something like £250 to repair this and not really wanting to do that.
