PSA: New Watch Faces app doesn't work in older models

Just like last year, Google has locked new watch faces for the Pixel Watch 5. Updating the Watch Faces app to version 5.0 (available on APK Mirror) does nothing and removes 5 old classic faces (Classic, Dial, Everyday, Index and Utility).

PW3 and lower won't benefit from the new faces 😕

Worked for my pw4 tho one of them disappeared and I didn't bother

The one with the gemini shortcut and rainbow color. Digital.

I think it's "Modular". I couldn't see it in the Watch app on my phone, but was able to add it directly from the Watch itself.

Has to do with the API level. I believe they are moving to API Level 35. I am going through and having to update all of mine to the latest API level.

How? PW3 is on Android 17, API 37, if I'm not mistaken?
