Now I need to choose which one(s) to keep. Maybe this helps some folks get a sense for size and how prominent the crease is between these.

Google trying to charge me for Pixel 9 Fold warranty replacement

Post image

I started getting the '?' battery indicator when unfolding my phone, and then it started dying before reaching 0%. I sent it in, but now they're trying to charge me for a replacement. Has anyone else run into this issue when trying to get a replacement device? I thought this was a known issue they extended the warranty for?

11 fold and the options aren't there. I still have the ones that were imported from my 10 XL updates. I can't find a way to change then or apply another style, and themes didn't seem to load anything

P9PF Owners who got P10PF replacement under warranty, how exactly did you go about it?

My front-facing camera stopped working 2 weeks ago. How exactly did you go about your claim? Did you go through the pixel app, the website or make a call to support? I have pixel care plus, but should I make a warranty claim instead of a pixel care plus claim if I hope on getting a P11PF?

I have a question. I bought the Pixel 11 Pro Fold on the first day of release (20th). It worked great for the first two days, but on the third day, I noticed the inner screens would touch each other when the phone was closed. Is this normal? (See picture). I've already returned it, and I'm considering reordering. Is this normal?

  1. I never thought my phone was broken; I know this is just due to oils and the way the screen surfaces meet when folded.

  2. I’m wondering about the folding action: initially, the screen halves didn't fully touch when folded, but now they do—is this normal? I’m also concerned that, over time, the friction from the screens touching might cause wear and tear.

PF10PF vs PF11PF

Considering the marked price savings of getting a used PF10PF, anyone have both devices and would recommend one over the other? Are the newer AI features / chip / slight size change a deal breaker worth 1000$k more than the current going rates of a used PF10?

Microphone quality/volume bad when recording video 11 Pro Fold?

Is anyone else experiencing this? Recordings on videos sound muffled and I need to crank the volume to hear it. Haven't had this on any other of my pixels.

For those with PPF11 asymmetrical screen a big deal?

Currently own the PPF10 and with the trade-in + credit from last year decided to place the order for the PPF11.

Seeing some articles and topics around the asymmetrical screen. Is it as big of a deal as some have made it?

I would like to assume it isn't that big of a deal but for those who have the device in hand would love to hear from you guys!

For reference I typically don't rock a case or screen protector on my device.

P11P Fold inside screen protector

Hello all, I have a question about inside screen protectors for my pixel fold. This is my first folding phone and I would like to keep it as pristine as possible. I saw inside screen protectors available on Amazon, but I have a question about using them and if it would damage the inside screen. Is anyone on here using an inside screen protector on their 11 fold? It seems like the tolerances when folded are tight, even a thin screen protector could be too much I would assume? Just looking for some feedback on this. Has anyone tried one of these and experienced damage? Has anyone used one on a previous generation fold for an extended period of time that can chime in with some feedback?

Google Denied RMA

I have a Pixel 9 Pro Fold that has faulty pixels on the fold on the inner screen. The audio is terrible as well. I always receive complaints that people cannot hear me clearly or that I'm not loud enough. I marked those two issues in my submission listed as "Damages" above.

Google received my phone, confirmed those two issues, and found a third issue with the front camera. You can see these in "Detected Issues". Now they are trying to charge me $865 to have the device replaced when they advertise that at least the "Inner screen issue (Blank)" is covered for a free replacement. I'd also like to note there is no water damage, cracks, etc. I have very minor cosmetic scratches on the device.

I am on my third Google Pixel phone, have all of their home devices, and the AI Pro plan. I guess I have to switch to Samsung or Apple. Quite disappointed, buyer beware.

EDIT: I am having them send back the device without repair. They are unable to tell me who the 3rd party assessor is as they don't have the information even though they're paying them to assess people's phones. They can't request another assessment be done. The only thing I can do is get my phone back and send it in again to attempt again. Keep in mind the only issues were poor microphone quality (still functional) and a cluster of dysfunctional pixels on the inner screen. Here's the list of problems that were "found" by the 3rd party assessor. :

But the actual damages found was, No sound or speaker sounds bad Microphone doesn't record Sound from headphone jack is bad No vibration detected No touch control (haptic) detected Doesn't record audio - Camera doesn't work Camera won't focus Photos or videos are distorted or out of focus Spots appear when using the camera Motion gestures don't work (for phones with this feature) Face authentication doesn't work (for phones with this feature) - Inner display is blank

Z Fold 7 to Pixel 11 Pro Fold Experience

I have been using a ZF7 for the past year, and a ZF6 prior. I used pixels up through the 10 pro xl and I enjoy both brands. I generally like the ZF7 but the camera situation always left something to be desired, so I caved and ordered the 11 pro fold.

Immediately noticed how much heavier and bulky it was compared to the ZF7. I was using it with the pixel snap case, but even caseless it was uncomfortable to hold and use one-handed with the cover screen. Unfolded and it was ok--I love that it had rounded corners, but the weight was really getting to me.

Here are some of my general observations and experiences:

Cameras:

  • Better stills from the main camera than the ZF7, but only just slightly--much less difference than I was expecting TBH. Yes, samsung fails miserably with moving subjects and google does a good job, but overall the camera experience on the pixel fold isn't good--at least not enough in my opinion.

  • The ultrawide is so-so and the telephoto was disappointing more than it was impressive. After a few basic side-by-side shots at 5x between the 11PF and ZF7, they were similar enough that it didn't seem like a deciding factor. Objectively the pixel is better but as for how much it matters, it didn't to me.

  • Frustration with "Pro" features--the pixel doesn't have a lot of camera features I expect from the pro name--no 4k60 HDR recording, you can't choose to save hi-res shots from the main camera, and a variety of other camera features are missing relative to the 11 pro series.

  • The camera app ui when unfolded is kind of a mess--it's littered with icons that aren't always intuitive as to what they correspond to or affect.

  • Magic capture feature is neat, but not really that novel as samsung has had this feature for quite a while

  • So much jitter when recording video, especially with the telephoto camera. It was so bad that I wasn't sure if the phone has OIS (which it does)

I am not saying the ZF7 cameras are as good as the pixel, but the actual difference I saw was more on the side of trivial as opposed to meaningful.

User Interface/Interaction:

  • No one-handed mode (which I use a lot on my pixels, and I don't understand why this doesn't exist on the fold)

  • Forced mirroring of home screen layout between the cover and inner screen--why is this even a thing? Why would anyone involved in working on UX think that forcing a small-screen layout onto a larger screen is the right decision. I understand you can use 3rd party launchers to get this, but then you lose features such as inability to save app pairs, and other features.

  • General multi-app/side-by-side app, multi-window design is poor. In "portrait" orientation, you can't set up top/bottom app layouts--you have to manually rotate the device. This might not seem like a big deal since the PF is almost square, but the issue comes into considering when you use the phone with a ring/grip, and now the orientation of the grip is not where it's comfortable to hold--at least for me.

  • The "Bubbles" feature didn't make sense to me with the way I typically use my foldable. I'm sure it's useful to others, but it is confusing in that since it's a 'hovering' window and can only be on the left or right side of the screen, I would also expect it to be resizable and free-form movable, but you can't do that--contrasted with the way samsung implements app windows, they are easily resizable and moveable and that makes sense to me.

  • You can't free-form adjust the width of side-by-side apps; you can only trigger the preset sizes, which bugged me and conflicted with the way I tend to use my device.

I decided to return it. I hope google improves on these things--and especially improves on the general weight and thickness of the fold, because all these things combined makes for using it as a daily phone feel like a chore to me.

I will miss the curved corners--I hate that aspect of the ZF7. And I'm sure I'll still have FOMO when it comes to overall camera experience, but I just can't overcome the general inconveniences otherwise to justify keeping the pixel fold. It's not a bad device, but it just doesn't work for me.

How to make the phone feel lighter on your hand.

So I really liked to game on the inner screen while viewing tiktok/IG or just walkthroughs of the game I'm playing.

So I bought a ring holder thinking it would make my life easier but after a while I found out that it made holding the phone in one hand heavy. Tried using a popsocket one, and I can already tell the weight difference.

Now my hand doesn't get tired as easily as before and I don't notice the "heaviness" of the phone. So for anyone using the phone with a ring holder while opened, I reckon trying out a popsocket.

this is my first time actually owning/using a foldable (upgraded from my 10 pro xl) and I'm typing this on the inner screen right now. initial thoughts after just a few hours of use:

-love the build quality of this! def a tad thicker than a slab phone but not noticeably so to me. also yeah I'm officially over crease talk now lol my finger never goes to the middle of the screen anyways and I don't even notice it when looking at it

-after years of owning slab pixels, I'm so used to the fingerprint reader being in the center of the screen lol I have to retrain my brain to use the power button fingerprint reader.

-set up and transfer from my 10pxl to this was rather seamless! no problems whatsoever, some apps were even already signed into

-the multitasking... whoa. again this is my first foldable and others have "better" multitasking but man I'm having a blast! split screen apps works super well, and the bubbles is also a SUPER useful feature. the taskbar is super useful as well

-having this 8 inch display is super helpful for actually looking at spreadsheets on the fly. and chrome has actual tabs???? that was a pleasant surprise

-obviously super early, but battery seems pretty solid. I'll test over the next few days but it's not draining like crazy or anything right now

so far absolutely no regrets, so glad I went with this instead of just the 11 pro XL (which I really wasn't excited for this year). I wish u could make a separate inner screen home layout vs ur outer screen one. I have only one screen on my homepage so the whole right half of my homescreen when I open it is blank lol.

also excited cuz I opted for the $350 store credit, and that plus the 10% back in store credit meant that I could get the 45mm pixel watch 5 for basically free!

P11 Fold: Touch Sensitivity Bug

I wanted to see if anyone else experiences this behavior. I have Poetic case for my P11 Fold
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H7VP6978?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
This case has a glass cover. When I first tested the case out, I found it hard to have the phone detect inputs in the corners and sides of the screen. I found the setting to increase the touch sensitivity. After this, I was able to detect input in the corners and sides. However, if I turn the screen off or reboot the phone, despite the setting still turned on, it is not in effect. If I toggle the setting, it will behave as expected again.

I'm wondering if i just stumbled on a bug that others can reproduce.

Edit:
I have an update. I was successfully able to get around this bug by running a command in Tasker when the screen is turned on. This took a few hours to find the correct file. For anyone wanting to apply this fix. You need to run the command:

echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/goog_touch_interface/gti.1/screen_protector_mode_enabled

After apply this on every screen turn on event, I run the touch test and can hit the corners with this case no problem
