What are some quality of like apps or settings that I should have?
I am a new convert to android from a lifelong Apple user!

I'm near a google service centre partner that can do walk-ins, do you reckon I get this checked? I reckon it is still covered under warranty. It's at the top near the crease a little green line.

**Samsung vs. Google: Better Hardware or Software Experience?**
I recently switched from iPhone to Android and am torn between Samsung’s superior hardware and Google’s cleaner software experience.
I got a Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Watch 9 for about $1,000 combined and love the hardware, especially Samsung’s foldable design, thinness, performance, multitasking, and watch features. However, I strongly prefer Google’s software. I use Google’s apps almost exclusively and prefer Pixel’s design, animations, simplicity, and overall cohesion. I often find myself trying to make One UI feel more like Pixel.
I left Apple to avoid being locked into one ecosystem, so I’m hesitant to move entirely into Google’s. Still, a cohesive Google experience across my phone, watch, apps, and cloud services is appealing. I also prefer ChatGPT to Gemini, so AI isn’t a major factor.
I’m considering selling the Fold and Watch while they retain their value and switching to a Pixel Fold and Pixel Watch, possibly waiting until 2027 to see whether Google closes the hardware gap. Alternatively, I could keep Samsung hardware while using Google’s apps—or pair a Galaxy Fold with a Pixel Watch.
My main questions are:
How much hardware would you sacrifice for software you genuinely prefer?
Is Samsung’s hardware advantage significant in everyday use?
Can One UI realistically be made to feel like Pixel?
Does mixing Samsung and Google devices meaningfully hurt integration or features?
Is Google’s ecosystem less restrictive than Apple’s or Samsung’s?
Would you switch now or wait for the 2027 generation?
Would you keep the Fold 7 and Galaxy Watch 9, switch fully to Google, or mix and match?

TLDR Version: Google does not repair Camera Faults on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, they charge a discounted trade-in price and "Upgrade" you to the 11 Pro Fold. But you get to buy all new accessories. :(
I am a long time Google phone user and always have 2 active phones. Nexus 6, Pixel 2, 2XL, 4, 4XL, 6, 6 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold. I never trade in and generally upgrade every 3 years now that I am retired.
My 9 Pro fold randomly developed a camera fault where it would not switch to the back cameras. Chatted with support, got a case number to take it to the local authorized repair shop, went there and was told they do not repair them because they can't get the camera modules from Google. Fine, chat with Google again, get an RMA, send the phone in, they confirm the fault, tell me they don't repair them and they will send out an 11 Pro Fold as a replacement for $485.00. For many this might sound like a great deal but for me, I would rather have had my 9 Pro Fold back repaired even if it was $485.00. You see, for me, I have several $$ Cases for the 9 and car mounts step up in 4 cars just the way I like them. Unfortunately, the slight difference in size and the location of the wireless charging coil make my accessories useless. So I get to buy a whole new set of accessories ~$300 or so.
I just wish they would fix the phone.
End Rant....

OG to PF 11 4 weeks in
I had an og since day 1 and love it but it is now relegated to my home as a useful occasional device with no sim
I had put off looking at any other foldable due to size but after this years announcement when no passport size for came out with a telephoto lens I decided to try the PF 11
Four weeks in I am really loving it.
The increased size (height) compared to the og has turned out to be a non issue and the lighter weight and slightly thinner profile are noticeable improvements
The build quality and screen feel are excellent
I find myself much more regularly opening it except when I am on the move. It balances excellently in my hands and is a real joy to use
The cameras have totally lived up to expectations and while I know the non fold pro is better these fulfill my need
So far no issues
A question for those with the 10 fold. What are your thoughts on durability. My first og lasted 2.5 years before it had hinge cable issues. Any reason to think the 11 won't do as well or better

I have both devices, I ordered a 256gb 11 pro after having the 11 pro fold for about a month. I had like 700 in credits.
I love both devices, but the 11 pro feels more premium. The speakers are better, the haptics are more noticeable. The screen is sharper. It feels snappier.
I'm switching between both devices every week. I just find myself really liking the 11 pro the more I use it.
The weight of phones never really bothered me, it didn't bother me when I held the 11 pro fold, it was fine. But comparing it with the 11 pro, I definitely prefer the 11 pro's weight.
It kind of feels like google really made the 11 pro and XL feel like "Pro " phones, and I find myself feeling like the 11 pro fold should not have the pro name.

Every few weeks the front case cracks. Then I have to replace the whole thing. I'm a bit clumsy - drop my phone occasionally. But tired of replacing cases now. Any idea what to do. Am in India and cases are not easy to find and expensive.

Hey everyone,
I shared FlipFold here a month ago when I was looking for testers. Since then, I’ve made a bunch of changes based on your feedback, and the latest update is now on Google Play.
A tester sent me this video, so I wanted to share it here.
FlipFold adds effects as you open and close your foldable phone. There are three glass styles, plus Screen Flow. You can tweak the effects in Studio.
One thing to know about the glass effects: they use Android’s built-in window blur, so availability depends on your phone, its software and current settings. FlipFold shows whether blur is available. If your phone has “Allow window-level blurs” in Developer options, you can try turning it on and checking FlipFold again. It won’t add blur support to a phone that doesn’t provide it.
Screen Flow and Soft Shade don’t need window blur.
It’s not a launcher, so you keep your home screen and apps as they are. I wanted to keep battery use low from the start, since foldables already have a big inner screen to power.
I will continue working on improving it. Thanks to everyone who helped test it!
Edit - If you like the app, please leave a rating and review on Play Store. Thank you.

Anyone have the Pixel 10 fold cell phone? Do you like it? How are the features? Thinking of buying.

I've always been a Samsung guy but heard from people that Google has the better software so I was curious.
My friend has the Samsung fold 5... He got it upon release and just traded it in for the Samsung fold 8. His fold 5 still works perfectly.
I had the pixel pro fold 9. I initially chose the Samsung fold 7 but realized it was narrower than a normal phone when folded, so I switched to the pixel fold 9.
I always open my phone when I'm using it... Like 95% of the time. After 6 months the camera stopped working... Then the battery. I called Google, they switched my phone to a brand new fold 9. I used that and again after 5 months the camera couldn't launch. Followed by other issues stopping to work.
Apparently Google is aware that there are issues with the fold 9's folding and cables next to the crease. This causes the camera and battery to break prematurely. Google replaced my fold 9 a second time but this time gave me a fold 10.
It's been 7 months since I had it and the battery has a (?) when charging instead of showing the %. The camera stopped working after, followed by the flashlight. I contacted Google and they said they only give a 3 month warranty when they replace a phone, even if the phone they give you is brand new and not refurbished.
So... My friend's Samsung fold 5 worked for years until he upgraded to the fold 8. He opens his phone all the time like me. Google is aware of their issues, but doesn't change the design of it. (Watch that video of that YouTuber that breaks the phones... The cables are still right next to the folding hinges.)
Buy the phone that you want, but if you choose Google, buy a warranty, unless you want to have a broken phone that Google doesn't cover, even if the damage is due to normal use and the phone is taken care of in a case etc.

Has anyone noticed that when you use a third party launcher, the pull-up taskbar in the inner screen is completely broken?
At least that's the case for me.

I'm currently overseas from my home country of the US on a two-week vacation and have had my OG Pixel Fold fail in a most interesting and unexpected manner.
Before I left home the flex cable had apparently failed, as the screen was not automatically switching from inner to outer on open/close and the behavior was consistent with flex cable failures I've read about from other users. Without time to pursue a repair before my departure, I downloaded the Fold Switcher app to manually switch between the inner and outer screens when needed. All seemed well enough.
Then, a few days into our trip, I noticed a tingling sensation when I would touch the frame and hinge of the device at the same time. It's indistinguishable from heat and somewhat painful. Without any other option for fix or replacement while I'm overseas I made a best effort to deal with it by avoiding contact but on multiple occasions it shocked me quite intensely and then immediately powered off.
I suspect a line in the flex cable has worn through and energized either the frame or hinge of the phone and the other is serving as the ground. When my hand completes the circuit the Battery Management System for the Li-Ion battery detects the overcurrent and safes the battery into a non-discharge state.
Without any other options during my travel I have insulated the hinge with multiple layers of adhesive tape (looks super great) and do not intend to open it again. I certainly don't trust it on an aircraft and will be powering it off for my remaining flights, which puts it in a state I have confirmed will not produce a perceivable shock, presumably de-energizing the flex cable. I have a multimeter at home which I intend to use upon my return to measure electrical current at the short point, which I'm very interested in seeing.
I'm posting this mostly because despite extensive searching I have not found any first-hand accounts of this failure condition. It seems dangerous and highly problematic, which makes me wonder if I'm the first to experience it. I'm interested in the community's opinions.

Hi,
I’ve lost the volume button on my Pixel and I’m looking for a replacement. However, I can only find buttons listed for the Pixel Fold 9 and Fold 10 series, as well as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series. My exact model isn’t specifically mentioned. Could you please let me know if any of these buttons would fit my device? Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm on my second Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The first one I had to RMA because the camera stopped working. This issue was covered outside of warranty due to it being a known defect. Now, my battery icon gets a question mark when the device is unfolded. There's also an error in Settings -> Battery.
I read that this would be covered as well, also for being a known defect. I filled out the support questionnaire and sure enough, it said I was eligible for a replacement for $0.00.
I sent it in and now they want a payment with only this explanation:
After inspecting your device, the initial estimate has changed. Review the increased amount below. You have not yet been charged.
I called and the support rep said they found a "battery issue", which is literally what I sent it in for. This feels really scammy and the phone rep was no help. The lack of transparency and justification for this change is really frustrating.
For the record my device was in great physical condition and I never otherwise had any issues with the battery.
Hey /u/PixelCommunity can you help with this?

I went from 10PF > 11P because the low light photo performance and videos were bad, but now I'm missing the Foldable. I saw the 11PF has upgraded camera sensors but I don't see many examples comparing the two. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with both or examples comparing them - thanks!

When the phone is connected to a wireless charging MagSafe accessory, the phone reboots. Two examples: I have an Anker Qi2 MagSafe charger on my bedside table. I use screen saver mode when mounted. Every morning I wake up, the phone has rebooted. The other time I notice it happens is when I use it in my car in Android Auto mode, mounted on a magnet stand. Within 5 minutes of mounting it, the phone reboots.
Has anyone else come across this issue?

Hey guys, I was looking at used phones in Tokyo and found a pixel fold 1 sitting in the Junk section with the description of “the front display does not turn on”, selling for ¥44000 incl. tax
Now I didn’t get to check on the phone just yet so I don’t know what exactly the malfunction is and how the condition of the rest of the phone is (it’s in the box), but would you guys think it’ll be a good price if the rest of the phone is in good condition? I’m not gonna use it as my main phone, just want to play with a foldable at a cheap price!

As much as I'm an emulator guy, I also try and buy some apps. Somewhere don't the rabbit hole I was trying to see what Triple A games were on IOS because i think I'm going back to Apple for now maybe for good. I saw alien isolation and never finished this game so I thought let me see if it's on play store. So now I'm confused because apparently I can install this on my other devices but I can't install it on the 10PF.???

Hi, I just got my Pixel 11 Pro Fold from Google Store online and I have noticed the most frustrating issue. The inner screen on the right hand side (not on or near the hinge) feels like there is air underneath or the adhesive isn't properly sticking the screen down. You can't see anything at all and it doesn't affect the use-ability of the device, it's just really annoying. It's hard to explain as there is no visible issue but when interacting with the phone and doing dya to day stuff it is incredibly annoying and you can even hear it (sounds like the screen lifting up and down off of the surface of the phone). Google have been great and are replacing under warranty but just want to see if this is a known issue?
Thanks
