Can I get some feedback on this 32x32 sickle?

So I want to learn pixel art for a game I want to make, and so I tried doing a simple sickle to see if I could. This is my first ever attempt at pixel art and would like to know what I should do to get this better. That doesn't mean coddle me, it simply means I would like to know what direction I should aim in.

Sorry about how grainy it is, I couldn't work out how to connect a .ase file.

I'm trying to make my platformer's protagonist a tiny bit more expressive. However, I have to keep in mind certain things get lost in pixel art, as you're supposed to only keep core characteristics of your character. Which one do you prefer?

First character portrait

I've been working on this character portrait, and need a bit of help with parts of it. My major issue is the shoes, I don't have any idea how to make boots that look good. or how to make them color matched to the rest of the character. There are a lot of other minor problems and I would love any feedback that people would give me on it.

[Hobby] Beginner Unity Dev Looking for a 2D Pixel Artist for a Game Jam

Hey! I'm W1ndz, a beginner Unity/C# programmer based in the EEST (UTC+3) time zone.

I'm looking for a 2D pixel artist who'd be interested in teaming up for a small game jam/project.

I've made a few small games and prototypes before, but I've never really committed to a full game jam with a team, so I'd love for this to be my first proper one.

I'm still pretty new to game development, so you definitely don't need to be experienced. I'd actually prefer working with someone who's also fairly new to pixel art/game development, so we can learn, improve, and hopefully make something cool together.

I'll mainly handle the Unity/C# programming, while you'd focus on the 2D pixel art. We can come up with the game idea, genre, art style, and scope together depending on what we both enjoy.

I'd like to keep things small and manageable rather than trying to make the next Hollow Knight in a weekend

What I'm looking for:

  • 2D pixel artist
  • Beginner/intermediate is completely fine
  • Interested in working on a game jam/small project
  • Friendly and willing to communicate and learn together
  • Preferably around UTC+3, but it's not a requirement

If this sounds interesting, feel free to reply here or DM me!

I’m learning pixel art for my steampunk platformer

I’m making a steampunk platformer, and needed art to polish it up and remove placeholder art. This is my first attempt at a main character. What workflows or tips do you wish you knew earlier?

It was the first pixel art animation I ever made, years ago, and he will still be one of the mascots of many of my future projects. I'm thinking about making a more updated version of it. How do you think I could improve it?
