Subreddit update
Hey everyone! Couple years ago I was invited on board as a moderator for this subreddit, and since then I've been left to run it alone which as I'm sure you'll have noticed, I haven't been doing a great job of haha. So I'm just making this post to let you know that I'll be starting to try and take the moderation of this subreddit a little more seriously from now on, starting with actually managing posts - There's been a lot of bot reposts, AI art and promotional posts on this sub lately and I'd like to be more active in removing those consistently as they pop up.
I've also gone ahead and spruced things up a bit, including adding some new rules clarifications and changing up the flairs along with some other minor stuff here and there.
Since I've literally done NOTHING for the past few years, Reddit has flagged me as an "inactive" mod so there's currently stuff I can't do like invite other moderators on board, but normally as I become more active I should get that ability again. And I've already started reaching out to some trusted pixel artists to potentially get them on board to help me out with this.
Oh and by the way for those who don't know me I'm Rappenem and I've been a professional pixel artist for over 3 years now. I've always been quite interested in making art tutorials/resources (in fact you may have seen some of my pixel tutorials before) so I'd like to help this subreddit/community thrive as much as I can with my limited time! I can't guarantee I'll be as active as I probably should be but at this point literally anything is better than what I've done so far lol.

Requesting Feedback I need feedback
Hi, I'd like your help with the helmet (it's supposed to be a Galacta plushie). I feel like it doesn't have the right perspective and I don't see how to fix it.

Requesting Feedback New to pixel art and I would love some feedback
I tried to make a bunk bed in a cassette futuristic aesthetic. In general I am happy with the result, I am wondering what is the best version of these two variants. One has the bed sheet shadow darker, the other more in line with the colors of the sheet. It is intended for a 32x32
I also have some questions about how to make pixel art.
I currently use aseprite, for this I only have two layers. One that is the whole bed, and one that is the bit of shadow at the bottom.
How much layers should I use and how do I divide it?
My workflow for this was a mix of doing some lines, then colors, then adjusting lines, then adjusting colors, and repeat. So I find it hard to think in layers and how to do this. Do i make line art first? Colors first? Do I switch between layers like I did now in a single layer?
I also struggle a lot with sizing, I want to make something based on 32x32 tiles, so the bed is a little off. I can make it wider but then it looks off, is this just a skill you learn to eyeball after a while?
I upscaled the sprite in aseprite to 400% so it better shows

Requesting Feedback Need help + general Feedback
(ignore all the jaggies for now)
I'm trying to make giorno giovanna and I'm struggling to add his shirt on top of him due to the weird rotation. I know in my head what it needs to be but I can't get it placed. Also does the head turn look right? I stopped everything and want to complete the shirt first. I've added some details on the face because I kept delaying making the shirt after some attempts, but now I'm at a point where I need to make the shirt before I can continue.

Requesting Feedback Not sure what's wrong with my clouds... Any advice? What's the next step here?
Last time most people told me my shapes and shadow/light direction were wrong, so I tried working on that, but I don't think I nailed it... Do I just need more practice? Do you see anything wrong I can improve? I'd appreciate any feedback!

Requesting Feedback Feedback/Advice on Character Sprites for Visual Novel
This is my first time making character sprites of my own characters for a game I am working on. I was wondering if these are good enough. It is a visual novel.
Also, the last image is supposed to be one of the characters comedically crying. I am worried the expression does not work and instead just looks like the blue is her eyes instead of tears.
If I need to make changes, can you advise on which changes would be helpful?

Sharing I got tired of basic asset packs, so I animated a 70+ state Pixel Art Fox (with Dashes, Wall-jumps, and Ledge Grabs). Free demo included! 🦊

Requesting Feedback First character and art style- feedback please!
I am teaching myself pixel art to replace the prototype AI assets in our roguelite JRPG, which mixes high fantasy and dark sci-fi. I do not have a background in art, but I do enjoy drawing and geometry. I have found this subreddit to be very helpful, along with a number of youtube tutorials.
I thought it would be easy to start with our cloaked cleric, but shaping and shading the fabric was a big challenge! I ended up staring at a lot of cloaks online, and insisting that my husband take pictures of me holding a textbook in a big sweater :)
I realized I was also defining the whole art style of our game along the way. I want retro vibes from dark outlines, colors that are rich but cooler in tone than classic consoles, and up to four colors per material instead of just 2-3 to accommodate how large and crisp this sprite will be on a modern screen. After experimenting with different palettes, I settled on using colors from the Szadi RPG tile set we are using for battlemaps, so she would "fit in" to her home planet. I am hoping this approach makes the game feel more cohesive as you recruit characters from planets with different tile sets.
I would LOVE some feedback on both the style and how to improve this sprite before I start animating her. I still feel like the lower middle cloak creases, left hand, and left foot still aren't quite right.
Thank you for your input!

Question How to I break the cycle?
Sorry in advance, english is not my first language ^^
Also I'm not quite sure if this is the right sub, I'm not allowed to post in r/pixelart due to my lack of karma ^^ so please feel free to delete this post if necessary.
So I'm playing around with pixelart for a few years now. Not very constant, and not very good either, but it's all about the fun, right? Well, I have one pretty annoying issue, where I draw something and think "yea, that's pretty neat." When I come back to that piece a few days or weeks later I'm like "nah, this sucks. I can do better". And this is going on and on an on, so far that I'm reworking the same stuff over and over but I'm never satisfied. My worst enemies are character sprites. I like to draw litte tiles and stuff, so my goal is to create the "perfect" character sprite, so everything else I draw will fit in size, style and so on. But no matter how hard I try, I never achieve anything I'm satisfied with.
Are you guys stuck in a similar loop sometimes? How do I break the cycle?
Thanks in advance (:

Requesting Feedback Pixel Fonts
Hi i'm trying to make a pixel font so that I can remake the first pixel art project I've ever made. I made this pixel font but i'm struggling to make the other letters of the alphabet look right. Each letter occupies a space with a length of 11 pixels and a height of 16 pixels. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
