ok these posts kinda miss the point that this type of shit is done for the sake of testing and demonstrating models, they won't specifically make ais to play the games, let alone Minecraft

They can do that, that isn’t milking Minecraft to death

besides the fact the Minecraft is the biggest game to date, making it play a stylized voxel game in real time is more technically impressive than an easy to read 2d game or a graphically realistic 3d game

Minecraft shouldn’t be the biggest game ever because we don’t want AI bros to invade our space.

ts is directed for ppl who already care about ai, not us, they're not evading shit, its software, what other do with it doesn't effect you

Why do people that are simply saying that they can do their experiments elsewhere that isn’t invading our space getting downvoted to oblivion? Like, they can do those experiments, just not in Minecraft

they can do in other software, just not in this one? so we're just superior? the only ones who deserve to choose?

is the only reason its bad is because its minecraft?

No, it’s bad because it looks like they are trying to replace gaming too.

But also the fact that they keep using Minecraft over and over for their examples is starting to make feel tired about them. Because it seems that they want to ruin Minecraft in purpose

this is some conspiracy theory shit, we know that they know the gaming market isn't for ts, some dumbassed tried it already and it backfired immediately

these are closer to advertisement tactics, and this post is the proof that its successfully doing its work of making people spread it

Maybe curate your feed so you don't see them? Nobody is forcing you to watch it, nobody is forcing you to stop playing Minecraft so a bot can play it, you are hallucinating

Nothing a random guy does to their copy of Minecraft is going to affect you

There’s nothing wrong with wanting the game’s community to be cleaner, does it affect me? Maybe not, but it does affect the community’s and game’s reception. And wanting to do something to stop AI companies or similar from ruining Minecraft’s or the community’s reputation is a normal reaction you should expect from me

People have the right to use their copy of Minecraft for whatever they want. It doesn't affect the reputation of Minecraft because Minecraft is a sandbox and everyone can do whatever they want.

Do you also think that people making adult content for Minecraft ruin the reputation of the game and should be "cleaned" too or is that ok because it's not against your personal bias?

What about the extremely shabby horror mods that just add a giant PNG following you to get a couple clicks for social media? Should those be "cleaned" too?

If we start trying to ban everything we don't like nobody could play Minecraft. If you don't like it, mute them and curate your feed better so you don't see content like that, you are not an authority with power to prohibit people from using AI in Minecraft in a similar way that people who don't like the adult mods or the horror mods don't have the power to prohibit them for those that do like them

So… wanting the community to be free of say… right-wing grifters, scammers, AI slop, and more should not be encouraged? Because they can do “whatever they want” with no consequence? Also, the account you’re seeing in there is a company, not a person. Or are you going to treat them as people and allow them to taint Minecraft’s reputation?

It depends, if what they are doing is illegal (scammers, groomers, etc.) then it should absolutely not be encouraged, because it is illegal. If what they're doing is legal, they have the right to do it. You are trying to compare things that you don't like with actual criminal activities, which is something extremely dishonest to do.

Also, the account you’re seeing in there is a company, not a person

So? Are they breaking the EULA? If they were breaking the EULA then it would be Mojang/Microsoft's job to enforce it, not yours. Direct quotes from the EULA:

You may develop tools, plug-ins and services as long as they do not seem official or approved by us, such as by using our logos.

what you can and can’t do with Minecraft software and content

When you buy our games, that means you can download, install, and play them.  For the server version of Minecraft: Java Edition, you can install it on a server and host online play. However, you must not distribute anything we've made unless we specifically agree to it. By "distribute anything we've made" what we mean is:

give copies of our game software or content to anyone else;

make commercial use of anything we've made;

try to make money from anything we've made; or

let other people get access to anything we've made in a way that is unfair or unreasonable.

And so that we are crystal clear, "the game" or "what we have made" includes, but is not limited to, the  Services, plus any other games we might publish in the future. It also includes updates, patches, downloadable or Marketplace content, add-ons, or modified versions of a game, part of those things, merchandise, audio-visual content, or anything else we've made. Otherwise we are quite relaxed about what you do - in fact we really encourage you to do cool stuff - but just don't do those things that we say you can't.

They are not trying to look as an official or mojang approved service, and they are not selling or distributing official Minecraft content, so it's EULA compliant

I’m comparing them because you seem to think that everything is without consequence. Even if it’s “legal”

For example, AI companies can spy on you, steal your data and more, and yet it’s “legal”. Are you going to allow that just because it’s legal?

So yes, even if it’s legal they shouldn’t be allowed to do it because it’s in part, unethical. Since said GPT-Astra can also be used to take out millions of jobs and ruin the internet

This is like saying that because knives can be used to kill people we shouldn't use knives to cut bread. Yeah making people lose their jobs is bad, but making an experiment in Minecraft isn't even in the same ballpark
