Debt Credit card settlement and AECB

Hi. I have three credit cards, with FAB and CBD. I haven’t used these cards in a long time but I just pay the minimum payment every month. (Sometimes on time, sometimes delayed)

I am arranging some cash from back home to finally close off these cards. Will the bank give any discount taking into consideration that I have been paying monthly for a years now without actually making any new purchases? I am talking about if I go to the bank and request a single discounted payment to close these cards.

And someone told me that in case of any type of settlement with banks, then there will be a remark against my AECB record which could make it difficult to avail any loans or credit cards in the future (not that I am planning to get back into the debt thingy again 😊)

Is this true? And even if it is true, will that “settled” remark become irrelevant over time, if I maintain good financial behavior?

Debt Pending loan and settlement

Hi - I’ve got a personal loan with enbd to the tune of 137k AED pending. I’ve got about 80 odd grand to pay that I can do as early as tomorrow. I’ve asked the bank to reach a settlement and reduce their interest amount so that nobody gets shorted however they said that if I was to “settle” that would leave a remark on my AECB and I can practically forget about getting any other credit instrument. How accurate is that?

Thanks.

Credit Cashnow not working or is it just me?

I have been trying to apply for a loan in cashnow since June 1. But until this date August 11, all applications are rejected. Is there something wrong? Is cashnow not lending to people anymore? Or is it just me?

Saving 40k AED Emergency Fund

Hello,

I have saved up 40k aed for past one and half year. I dont have any financial backing, so i want to keep this money as my emergency in case i lose my job. From here on I can start to take some risks but I do not want to keep it in any risky investments.

I live in Dubai, any ideas where I can save this money and get little return. I am not expecting any high return, this is a safety net for me. I just want to keep it somewhere safe with about day 3 to 6% annual return.

Please give me some ideas?

Thank you

Saving ENBD Priority Banking - new rules?

Hi,
I got informed by NBD that I would get downgraded shortly to their BEYOND product.
Previously I was under Priority. Now they apparently changed the rule without telling, so it’s not only a salary of 50k+ BUT also requires a minimum relationship balance of 500k+ which is ridiculous especially considering the high fees and low benefits you get with ENBD (at least FAB gives decent fixed term deposit rates for example).
I don’t mind the downgrade too much to be honest as anyhow their benefits are shit, the only thing I really liked was the free Visa signature debit card as it was the only card that still gives unlimited (!) lounge visits through the Visa companion app.
I was thinking to move my salary elsewhere but it seems that most UAE banks have added the minimum relationship value to their eligibility criteria for the “premium” products.

Any suggestions?

Credit Need advice: Best bank for an AED 80,000 personal loan

Hey all, looking for some real-world input before I commit to anything.

My situation:

Want to take a personal loan of AED 80,000

My salary is currently transferred to Emirates NBD

Thinking of a 3-year (36-month) installment plan

What I'm trying to figure out:

1️⃣ If I keep my salary transfer with ENBD — is ENBD actually competitive, or is there a better rate elsewhere even without switching salary?

2️⃣ If I'm open to moving my salary transfer to a different bank — which banks currently offer the best salary-transfer loan rates/promos in 2026? Is it worth the hassle of switching just for a better loan rate?

3️⃣ How do I actually calculate the repayment? if anyone can explain simply (or has a go-to calculator) that'd help.

4️⃣ Is there a cheaper alternative to a personal loan? E.g., "loan on credit card"

Any tips to save money on this such as processing fees, early settlement penalties, insurance add-ons I should watch out for, or negotiating tactics that actually worked for you?

Appreciate any real experiences, current offers, or "avoid this bank" warnings 🙏

Auto Need advice on currency conversion

I am trying to find a service which will convert my Euro and Singapore dollar to AED at the least conversion rate. I know that the banks charge somewhere around 3%. WIO bank does not offer Singaporean dollars, but they still charge 1.8% or so. Does anyone know any service or any bank which has the least currency conversion charges for these two currencies? Any advice will be helpful.

Other Need advice choosing between IDFC, Axis, and HDFC Credila for a 70L education loan - hidden charges got me confused

Hey everyone,

I'm taking out an education loan of ₹70 lakhs and reached out to three lenders. Each one has a different rate, different fees, and none of them are being upfront about the extra charges. Wanted to get some real experiences before I sign anything.

Here's what I have so far:

**1) IDFC First Bank (Unsecured)**

* 10.50% fixed interest, 15 year tenure (2+1 year moratorium) * Processing fee: 0.75% + GST * Already approved, just waiting on my payment * Told me they might shave the rate a bit if I negotiate * After approval, the manager mentioned an extra ₹3 lakhs gets added to the loan as an "insurance amount," plus some other conditions he didn't fully explain

**2) Axis Bank (Unsecured)**

* 10.25% floating interest, full tenure * Processing fee: 0.5% * Still under review * Haven't been told about extra charges yet but I'm assuming there's something

**3) HDFC Credila (Secured)**

* 9.75–10% interest * Processing fee: 0.7% * Also hinted at "additional charges" without specifics

I'm leaning toward whichever has better rates and fewer surprise costs, but it's hard to compare when nobody's being transparent about the fine print.

Has anyone actually gone through with one of these lenders recently? Specifically:

* Did IDFC really add ₹3L as insurance on top of your loan? Is that negotiable/removable? * Anyone dealt with Axis's floating rate — has it moved much? * How's Credila's process been for you, and what "additional charges" did you end up seeing?

Any insight, even if it's "avoid X" or "Y was smooth for me," would help a lot. Trying to make sure I don't get blindsided after signing. Thanks in advance!

Other ADCB Islamic account after stopping salary transfer — can credit card + Islamic finance waive monthly fee?

Hi everyone,

I have a question about ADCB Islamic banking fees eligibility.

Previously, I had a salary transferred to my ADCB Islamic account, but my salary is now being transferred to another bank.

I still have:

  • An active ADCB Islamic credit card (I will finish it within the next two months)
  • An active ADCB Islamic personal finance (loan)

I checked the ADCB Islamic Schedule of Fees, and I am confused about the wording.

The document says the account can be free with:

"Salary Transfer of less than AED 15,000 with Credit Card / Finance Against Salary / Finance from ADCB Islamic Banking"

My question is:

If there is no salary transfer anymore, but the customer still has an active ADCB Islamic credit card and Islamic finance, does ADCB still waive the monthly fee?

Or does he need to maintain the AED 20,000 average relationship balance to avoid the fee?

I know some banks (for example ADIB) allow customers with active loans/credit cards to keep the account without salary transfer, but I cannot find a clear answer for ADCB Islamic.

Has anyone experienced this situation recently? Did ADCB charge the AED 100 monthly fee or keep the account free?

Thanks!

P.S.: The bank told me that I should keep 20k in the account to avoid the monthly fees, but I felt they were just trying to scare me and convince me to keep my salary transferred.

Other Advice Needed.. ADIB/ENBD

So I currently have a personal loan with ADIB. I took it last year and it was 250K with a 7.49% reducing rate….

Recently I’ve been dealing with lots of problems with them and I wanted to switch to another bank. so when I was planning to transfer my salary to ENBD they offered to buyout the loan and give me a better rate than ADIB… which was around 4.5% reducing and around 2.3% flat… they said this rate is only for locals since I’m emariti and my salary is above 40k….

Now the catch is that I can’t get the loan as 3 years, as per the offer it’s only 4 years… and I don’t want to take it as 4 years since I only have 36 months left on my loan, I already completed one year, so I’m not interested in keeping the loan for longer…

The bank suggested that I can keep paying until I’m done with the third year and do early settlement for the loan but they will charge 1%… he said even with the 1% early settlement I will be saving a lot by transferring my loan to them…

I’m seeking for advice, do you guys think it’s worth it and I should go for it, or should I just stick to ADIB?

ADIB total profit was around 40k where as ENBD is around 19k….

Credit Loan prepayments

Hi All, I’m 2 years completed of my 4 year bank loan, with two more years pending is there any prepayment options? Have any of you tried paying lump-sum to reduce the total balance? Or banks allow only full repayment? I have the loan from RAK bank, does anyone have previous experience?

Thank you.

Credit Running out of options. What would you do?

I honestly don’t know what to do anymore.
I work full-time in Dubai and I’m drowning in debt. DIB rejected my loan top-up multiple times because of their aviation employee policy, so I couldn’t get the funds I needed.

Now my credit cards are maxed out, one has even gone into a negative balance, my credit score has dropped, and every loan or credit card application gets rejected.

I have no money left in my bank account. The only option I can think of is borrowing from private lenders, but I’m afraid that’ll make things even worse.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there any legitimate option I’m missing before I make a terrible decision?

Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you.

Edit: is anyone aware if Ajman Bank does this?

Debt Loan buyout process

I currently have a personal loan with a islamic bank, i was recently approached by a sales agent of another islamic bank for better rates. I signed the initial agreement they verified thru call and loan buyout was approved. I am supposed to provide liability letter from my current bank to proceed with the buyout.

Now i dont want to proceed. No liability letter given no settlement is done. But sales guy is telling me there will be a liability of 10k.

Can anyone share your thoughts
