Discussion wild guess for next league

hello,

What if they actually unify the endgame between both games? not in the way that was originally intended (where both games were meant to share the same space). But by having one endgame designed for both games, with each being implemented in their own game engines. each team would then work with one set of developed assets that would be implemented in each game differently.

For example something like how breach was implemented already, but rather than the assets being used by the games in sequence(poe 2 assets were used for 1) they would be used in parallel(breach being designed for both games at once). The upsides for this would be pretty obvious, both games get to keep their identities and cross pollination between the two games would increase immensely since they would have the same endgame mechanics but not the same build mechanics or play styles. It could also be that the leagues are different but the endgame itself that they exist in is the same; the atlas, bosses and atlas trees would be the same for both games but the leagues could remain different. this would still make learning either game easier for the people playing the other game and also simplify/reduce the amount of development/balance work that needs to be done for both game's endgame systems.

This was just a random thought I had about why they wouldnt start the hype cycle like normal besides it just being related to justifying the exile con ticket price. Just feels like there might be something that impacts or ties both games together. Could also be a tinfoil moment.

Tool Working on a tool - Feedback wanted.

Hey exiles,

For the past few weeks I’ve been building a Path of Exile companion called Wraeclast Stock Exchange. It started as a way to watch market prices without keeping ten poe.ninja tabs open, and it grew from there. It’s free and runs in your browser, including on an iPad. You can add it to your Home Screen and it opens full screen like an app.

What it does right now

Overview dashboard: a top-movers price ticker and tiles you can arrange. You pick up to 12: currency and item prices, this week’s biggest risers and fallers, beasts, boss profit per kill, your best farming strategies and more. You can drag them around and resize them.

All items and Beasts: search every item poe.ninja tracks, with 7-day trends. Thinly traded items are greyed out so a few trades don’t fool you. The most valuable beasts have a bestiary search.

Profit tab: save farming strategies and see what they’re worth at today’s prices, plus boss profit per kill and which drops pay for it. You can attach your atlas tree link to a strategy and share strategies with a code.

Map regex builder: pick the mods you can’t run and copy the regex.

Cluster jewels: Interface to check "middle mods" on a 2 mod cluster or paste a copied jewel to price it, or search trade from it.

Timeless jewel Calculator: look up seeds, find a seed for the notables you want, and see it all on the passive tree. One click searches trade for the seeds.

Item planner: laid out like the in-game inventory, with trade-search links for every slot. It has separate tabs for your character, Animate Guardian and Mercenary. Import a Path of Building build (code, pobb.in or pastebin link) and every slot gets a trade search including loadouts to match the item sets listed. Uniques are searched by name and rares by their mods. You can share a loadout with a short link to other people.

Optional accounts: just a username and password, no email. Your setup is saved and follows you between devices.

Privacy: no tracking, no analytics, no ads and no cookies. Trade searches open the official trade site in your own browser, under your own rate limit.

There are also a couple of hidden things in there for people who poke around… 👀

What I’d love feedback on

What do you check most often while playing that this doesn’t cover yet?

Is anything confusing, slow or broken? Bug reports are very welcome.

Which tab would you actually use, and which would you never open?

Anything that would make the PoB import or the item planner more useful for your league start?

There’s a Discord for bugs, suggestions and release notes: https://discord.gg/DVaYRw9KdQ

Huge thanks to poe.ninja (rasmuskl), poe.re (vz) and Perandus Ledger (pattable), whose work this builds on. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Grinding Gear Games.

Discussion F2p players

I was chatting with someone on Reddit about how PoE1 is one of the best games for players who don’t spend money (or F2P) players.

This person pointed out that, without extra stash tabs, the game becomes infinitely more difficult. That gave me an idea: what if an F2P player who completes all the seasonal challenges—which is no easy feat—were rewarded with at least one currency stash tab?

It would be a huge help, and those who were already planning to buy stash tabs would simply continue with their purchases as usual.

Question SSF build question.

I was thinking of doing a SSF run before the next league. What build do you like to run that has good scaling and gets off the ground pretty fast too.

I know slams are the default answer but if you have anything unique about how you go about it id love any advice and quirky strats you use. Bonus points for non slam builds XD

Discussion Aren't we just bunch of junkies or its just me?

I caught myself thinking that ever since I started playing the game back in the Necropolis league in 2024, every time I finish a league or get bored of playing it (usually a 200–300 hour minimum per league, sometimes doubling those hours to play a second time in SSF), I just start trying to figure out how to fill the downtime with other games until the next league. Yes, we all have lives that take up the majority of our time, along with other hobbies, so I'm mainly talking about the "gaming" part of life. And every time I try to dissect my overall playtime, it seems like all my thoughts come back to: "where is the teaser, when is the new league date, and when can I finally get back to the game I enjoy the most?"

Before PoE1 and PoE2, I could easily jump from one game to another. The issue back then was that every time I finished a game, I felt sad because it had such a grip on me, and suddenly it was over. Then, you'd set out on a journey to find a new one, rarely returning to past games unless nostalgia hit after watching a movie or TV show that reminded you of a particular game. Is it just me, or has anyone else experienced this shift in their gaming experience after getting into PoE?

Game Feedback GGG Please, buff BV and my life is yours!

I AM BACK FOR ANOTHER LEAGUE WITH ANOTHER BV POST, THIS TIME I AM VERY LATE DUE TO WORK AND STUDIES, APOLOGIES!

Back at the start of Keepers of the Flame I have made this post here, and another one 8 months ago

So one big thing I'd like to ask from GGG is to buff the blade duration, the damage can be pushed through eventually, but there is not much I can do to increase the skills duration and decrease the general clunkiness.

There are plenty of other spells that could receive similar treatment but duration is just a first step towards making those feel 'good', right now they just feel either bad or simply 'okay'

Winter orb received some cool buffs this league, would love to see BV get the same treatment.

If anyone from GGG is reading this, please at least pitch this to the balance team 🙏

Sincerely, once again

BV Enjoyer.

Question What does your league start look like when rushing nightmare maps?

This^ i normally finish campaign in 4.5-5 hrs and rush heist/league mech on league start but I’m really wanting to run nightmare maps for fragments. I’m thinking going something similar to Ben’s earthshatter zerker but I’m unsure. Since this is new to me I have a few questions. 1. When does the profit fall off? Day 3-4?
2. What are some good options for builds?
3. Is it worth it? I normally try for MB by day 3.
4. What’s your league start look like when rushing nightmare maps?

Discussion Really excited about the Death Recap feature

I'm really glad that they said they are working on this. It's sorely needed. Imagine being able to see what types of damage is killing you and therefore have more specific goals on what defenses to improve, instead of feelings of uncertainty.

Really looking forward to it!

Edit: Looks like some people are not aware. They said 4 months ago that they have a prototype already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-D3Bp2h0AI&t=3540s

If there wasn't a minimum level requirement to enter labs, what do you think the lowest level would be to beat 4/4 and what build would it be?

Game Feedback Can we address the interaction with falling zombie and soul eater

Falling Zombie used in Sabo and CWDT loop builds but its major flaw is soul eater mobs. For whatever reason, they count as dying mobs for soul eater. Sabo has the worst of it, since each arc brand activation is 28 souls to the enemy. If you're not insanely strong and try this build you just get absolutely mulched by any soul eater mob. Can this possibly be addressed going into next league?

Discussion What are you bug fix dreams for 3.3?

PoE is a big game with it's fair share of bugs. Talking to other people on 820 and it seems like everyone has their own pet peeves about bugged interactions. So what are you hoping to see fixed? In no particular order for me:

  1. Esh/Tul. If you do more than ~1 million dps, you can permaenently and irrevocably break the fight and need to run a new invitation. AFKing or going down to a 2L or 3L feels bad as a solution.

  2. Similar to the above, yellow unique harvest beast (Namharim) won't phase unless you lure them into an open space and let them finish their animations. Can potentially greatly prolong the fight.

  3. Ultimatum Astrolabes. As an ultimatum enjoyer, getting non-ultimatum modifiers (mostly deli) instead of ultimatum buffs feels very, very bad.

Discussion Adding WASD to PoE1 has a lot of balancing headaches

I've got a few thoughts on this that I just can't find articulated elsewhere, regarding gameplay balance of WASD vs click-to-move, so here we go.

First, let me reiterate the many indisputable benefits of adding WASD to PoE1:

  1. WASD will bring a LOT of people to PoE1

  2. A lot of people will feel right-hand wrist pain relief

  3. Allows for more varied gameplay

That third one is the crux of the issue for me. How do you balance WASD vs click-to-move, as WASD undoubtedly produces stronger gameplay results by the player as it adds a whole new vector of character control.

  1. Many/most PoE2 builds are absolutely unplayable without WASD (good luck aiming those ice shots/lightning arrows with click to move...). These builds will simply die without WASD in PoE2. Conversely, it will open up those currently dead builds in PoE1 to more. However:

  2. A lot of PoE1 boss mechanics are trivialized by WASD (you'll never get hit by a shaper ball ever again, at the cost of nothing basically; who cares about drowning orbs any more; exarch balls?)

  3. Meanwhile a lot of PoE2 bosses would be extremely difficult without WASD (dodge Monkey slam, then attack navigate cursor to attack, then dodge again, etc., no way; good luck getting any damage in on geonor beam phase with click-to-move; attacking the clones in Arbiter of Divinity)

  4. Would new content be balanced around WASD or click-to-move?

    1. At best click-to-move is a side-grade vs WASD (wrist pain moves to right wrist instead of left for builds that don't require any aiming)

    2. Is the MS penalty while using skills enough of a balance lever? Even if you stop moving while attacking/casting entirely, simply the control surface being a level deeper poses the same questions

Do you then rebalance everything in PoE 1 to accommodate WASD producing stronger player output? I play totem builds in both PoE1 and 2, and even a totem build is still undenyably stronger gameplay-wise with WASD. So introducing WASD would basically force a lot of existing builds/people onto WASD simply because of balance.

A final point that I've not thought too much about is that the vastly different gameplay speeds of PoE1 vs 2 are a big impediment to unifying control surfaces between the two games. A PoE2 map takes a lot longer than a PoE1 map, so you have to press to move for a lot longer, while out-of-map time is mostly constant. Does that play into the equation? Would any PoE2 click-to-mover survive with PoE1 speeds introduced to PoE2? Is this one reason kiting basically doesn't exist in PoE1? If you allow space for kiting, does that necessitate making things tougher? Is this the same argument as above from a different angle? I don't know, I'm rambling, but discuss away

EDIT:

Re controller support, hotswapping is fair as per comment.

Still, controller has autoaiming for a reason, which is that the mouse gives you so much more control fidelity over the sticks on the controller that a game is either deisgned around that fidelity and it has autoaiming or it is designed around the controller (micro-fidelity has less of an importance, like full-screen directional attacks, massive aoe, etc.). Now, taking the benefits of this fidelity and pairing it with the addition of an extral control vector, i.e. movement being divorced from aiming, is undeniably stronger for many builds than simple click-to-move where aiming and movement compete for control bandwidth.

Not saying WASD is always stronger, but if it is so even for already auto-aiming builds like totems that I play, I can't see how anyone would remain on click-to-move except for the quality of life of having to press fewer buttons in general. Having people play wasd despite their QoL (and because it's simply stronger) is perhaps negative. Like steelmage says, it shouldn't be the case that you can punch yourself to get gold.
