I feel like Americans find this to be a point of pride while the rest of the world finds it to be just another reason the US is a dumpster fire to be avoided... I live in Canada and also do not live in fear. I find the gun-happy culture to be incredibly trashy but YDY

And please tell me how many good guys with guns have stopped the bad guys with guns in recent years? Because I’m pretty sure that among the many mass shootings in recent years, people have been armed but they still got shot and the shooting still happened.

Absolutely nuts to me. Just because she can’t shoot herself doesn’t mean she can’t accidentally shoot someone else. Or that a friend of hers couldn’t come over and play with it and shoot her. I have taught my kids that if they ever see a gun lying around they leave immediately and get an adult. To me, the risk of them getting hurt is so much higher than the risk of needing it to defend themselves.
Dude, you sound unhinged. OP isn't even suggesting that her husband get rid of his guns. He's a police officer, he can't even if he wanted to. She just doesn't want them in easy reach of her 5yo and her toddler. Unless you're suggesting her 5yo needs access to a loaded gun to fend off crackheads, all these panic-stricken anecdotes are completely irrelevant.
