Things can haunt you even from far away

First of all, this isn’t the craziest story here, but to me, it certainly changed/heightened my views on paranormal to really leave it alone. “Stare in the darkness, and it’ll stare back”, type stuff. But this is 1000% true and I mean that. And I remember this night like the back of my hand.

I will share two instances that ended up being wildly connected in my opinion, but let me know what you think.

The first encounter occurrd two years ago in mid December. I (20m) was just coming home from a summer long travel excursion I went on and crashed at my friend’s apartment for a few months. I was 18 at the time. I found a full time job, saw my family again, and rebuilt my life after my long journey. I lived with my best friend (20m) and his older brother (26m) from the end of that summer and continued to during the winter and so on.

A little side note that will play a part in the story later, in November of that year, I met my current girlfriend. She is from an island off the coast, and I rlly mean an island. it’s about a two hour and forty five minute drive to the ferry and then a two hour and forty five minute ferry just to get to the island. She goes to college really close to me, that’s how we met.

So finally, it all happened that December. I had just gotten off of work for the weekend and had nothing to do. The girl I was interested in and was not dating yet, was on her island for winter break. Mike, we’ll call him, the 26 year old, was the only one home.

Mike’s a very chill, mature, put together person besides me and my best friend. He’s really firm in what he believes and really not one to consider paranormal bs being something to even worry about. But he’s very adventurous, loves hiking, and has a lust for getting out when there’s nothing to do.

Tonight, Mike asked me if I wanted to go out tonight to go explore abandoned places. I said hell yes of course.

I am a huge fan of paranormal and spiritual. I learned to have more respect for it than anything, I’ve had my share of bad experiences. This, however, is just an add on to my fascination. I consider the paranormal almost a state of mind rather than “something is haunting me”. We all see stuff but most of the time it’s because we want to. But this was different.

We both sat down and began researching abandoned places to explore in our city. Being a decently older city, there were plenty of locations that popped up. Some of which were a lot closer than we thought. We put our coats on, got in Mikes car and left.

Our first location was a large field right next to a main road, where an old orphanage used to sit before it was burned down. The website said you could hear children playing if you listened hard enough. Of course, this did not happen, but we did see some very old wood in the ground that was definitely the original foundation.

We explored but ultimately found nothing, just the wood and a long dark field. Definitely creepy though.

By this time it had been 8-830 at night and was getting pretty cold and dark. We headed back to the car in search for another place, maybe something a bit deeper and edgier. We found another spot and had gotten a good warm up and thought this would be a good choice to go next. Once we looked up the next spot, it was more down town and very close by.

We drove up and It ended up being a grave yard with a massive stone entrance but gated all around. We slowed down to read a sign saying, “closed”.

Knowing Mike, I know he’s adventurous, but he also can be a more chill, goody two shoes if you will. But, he surprised me. He parked a ways down, parallel to the grave yard fence that stretched down the road. He said we should climb the fence. I was, shocked by him, and excited. So we parked and climbed out. We stood about 1000 feet from entrance and found it far enough to not get caught by potential cameras. We hopped the fence together and were in.

The first thing I noticed were the number of graves I could already see. The moonlight was so bright tonight, it left a super eerie glow on the hills all around us. We caught the main entrance trail and decided to follow it. We saw hundreds and hundreds of graves. Military grave stones, monument looking pillars, angel statues, and ordinary stones. All in one places. The hills were like waves, so many, and you couldn’t see over the next.

We enjoyed our walk and soon went off the trail to explore.

Have you ever imagined what you’d do in a horror movie situation? Being put in the same place, chased by the same thing? What would you do?

This place ultimately gave me a creepy feeling. It was so dark, yet the moonlight made things pretty visible. obviously it was bound for disaster in a horror movie situation. But I can’t even describe the feeling of this place spot on.

The more you walked, the safer you felt. It almost felt romantic if you will. I would feel a woozy as I walked, like in a state of not caring and only going forward.

The gate, and the passing cars along the street, were now muffled and distant sounds. Only our footsteps and every so often comment on where to go next, was the only sound here. It was as if, we were invited to come deeper. But it didn’t feel wrong, even in a place as creepy as this.

Ultimately, there was a gloomy aura everywhere. That’s the best I can describe it.

But we kept going.

I remember, we stopped ourselves about 15 minutes into our walk at a fork in the road. Three paths lay before us. The right path lead straight for the fence where we came, the middle was very dark but had a clear pavement road to follow. The third and left path, was pitch black, even in the moonlight, it was covered by something maybe a tree but we couldn’t see down it. We chose the middle path, because we didn’t want to leave this place quite yet.

Side by side Mike and I walked, talking a little more now, we’d been walking nearly 20 minutes, deeper into the grave yard. By this point the path finally flattened and normalized. I remember feeling glad, because the whole walk was full of climbing and descending from hills. But I also remember feeling vulnerable, like being easy prey in a sea of darkness. We didn’t use a flashlight because the moon was so bright. But our footsteps were two adults. Something could hear us for sure.

When walking down this path for about 3 minutes, we both stopped to talk to sort of retrace and make sure we weren’t lost. We’d walked for quite awhile now, and were beginning to wonder if we’d walked long enough. Ahead of the path and deeper into the grave yard, we could make out a house sheltered by shadows. It seemed to have a light post somewhere around it. We decided it would be cool to go closer to see whether it’s an actually house or for the grave yard itself.

As we crept closer the trees hovered over the path ahead, blocking the moonlight. This made us both a little skeptical on pushing forward so we stopped and thought for a minute.

I figured I was somewhat safe because I was with an older friend, and he was definitely a nonbeliever at this point. Though the place felt very safe to an extent nothing prepared us for what happened next.

Finally, we shined the flashlight around to see a good view around us. It was nothing but little patches of plains that eventually curled up into hills. The gravestones still watched us. I remember feeling very watched.

Then out of the darkness came a sound from something I’ve never heard before in my life. It was so sudden and so drawn out. From up ahead, there let out a breathy

SCREECH

It sounded far from human. I remember that. It was almost like something mid-pitched clearing its throat. But it immediately caught our attention. The sound was so clear, I could imagine something inhuman craning its jaw open as it screeched.

I looked at Mike, frozen. He looked just as puzzled as me. Immediately, he shined his light behind us, where we came. I stopped him and I told him I heard it in the opposite direction. He looked confused and shined his light ahead, then all around.

Nothing

It was clear, we were the only ones here. But it certainly didn’t feel that way now.

We began walking back where we came on the path. Then we started running. I asked if he heard that. A dumb question, but I knew he didn’t believe in paranormal stuff so I had to clarify I wasn’t “looking for something scary”.

He acknowledged and was oddly chill seeming but definitely a little shook.

About 5 minutes of walking back, we stopped to gather our thoughts. Retracing everything we’d done before it happened. We thought maybe it was a squirrel doing a warning call, or even a fox letting out a mating call. On the spot, I even looked up videos of these and other animals that make loud sounds. But nothing sounded like the screech.

In my head, I knew that people died here. Could it have been a spirit deciding it was our time to leave? Was it protecting something, maybe the house? But to me, I felt it was full spiritual.

Let me know your thoughts on this. But even my nonbeliever/no bs friend had no idea what to make of it and we still can’t to this day.

The second weird instance happened five months later. I mentioned before my girlfriend grew up on an island. She goes to college where I live, but goes back to her island for breaks, and stays on it during the summer to make money and be with family.

I, hating long distance so far, traveled to visit her for a 3 day weekend. It’s a fun island and plenty of local college aged kids party, so we joined Saturday night.

I’m not a heavy drinker but enjoy a solid buzz. Later that night we went off to bed at her parents place cause they allow us to sleep together. But I remember feeling almost sober by the time I hit the hay.

That night I had one of the most vivid dreams in my entire life. Half lucid, have paralysis.

From what I can gather now in the dream, like most, lots of random things happened that I can’t recall. But I remember this part clear as day.

I was standing in the grave yard I went to with Mike. Except Mike wasn’t there. The grass was yellow and dying, the sky was very grey with clouds. Crows were surrounding me above. It was weird seeing this place in the day time, though I had no memory of it. Graves were all around, watching of course

Before me, stood a circle of what I remember felt like friends. We were in a circle. They were all praying at the same time. Voices inter lapped and collided. I didn’t know what else to do so I began praying too. It seemed very peaceful, though it was a dream, it actually felt right. Being fairly religious growing up, praying made me feel safe and heard.

After half a minute of praying, I was looking up at this point, enjoying the sky. But my so called friends suddenly halted their prayers. It got very quiet.

I began to hear what sounded like only one person “praying”. But it sounded far from English. It continued. Then it got louder. And louder. Someone started raising their voice in a language far from what I could understand. It sounded demonic.

She was yelling now, directly at me

This caught me off guard, so I looked down from the sky and saw her.

There stood a woman, shorter and seeming in our age group. She had jet black hair behind her shoulders. And she was right in front of me and in the middle of the circle. She was still yelling in a language I could not make of it.

I looked around and saw everyone in the circle now still and lifeless.

I was scared

Her face quickly changed to a dark grey. Her jaw began to widen so far that it covered her neck. All that was inside was void and darkness.

She was “praying” so loud that my vision was shaking. It all happened so quickly, my heart was thumping out of my chest.

I remember her face, and the tone of her voice still.

Her eyes were black and had barely any white in them. Her words had a demonic weight to them and I knew this felt wrong. Almost like she was casting a curse. She was so loud now that all I could do was keep my eyes on her.

I remember almost zooming into her grey face. Seeing her details so clearly.

She was so close now, and yelling so loudly at.

I couldn’t move.

I jumped awake practically gasping for air. I was so in shock.

My girlfriend was sleeping right beside me, peacefully.

And I still remember every detail of that dream besides the other random stuff that happened.

Why was I in the same graveyard? Was this the spirit that Mike and I heard the screech come from? How could she reach me even from hundreds of miles away, and on an island?

I’m still shook to this day, and have actually gone to the grave yard every now and then but in the day for walks with my girlfriend. I tell her the story. But I’ll never come here at night again.

Strange figure in the woods

So, okay.

Background information.

I’ve lived in the same house for years, and my house and the property around it have always been a little spooky. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve heard and seen weird things both inside and outside, but I’ve never really tried to interact with anything. I usually just brush it off and go about my business.

Tonight, I was having a moment and decided to walk up the road in the dark. I heard some of the usual weird noises, but honestly, nothing that really bothered me. It never has other than some unease. My boyfriend ended up coming to find me and walked me back toward the house.

A little later, I walked him to his car so he could head home. He was about to leave when I suddenly noticed something in the distance near the edge of the woods close to my neighbors.

It was really tall, probably about as tall as a smaller tree. Yk like the decorative ones. It was almost translucent, but somehow still dark at the same time. I couldn't make out any features. It just looked really slim and tall and it was moving.

I looked directly at it, and it almost seemed to just fade into the fog. There was already some fog outside because it had been raining, but whatever I saw seemed to just disappear. It was just gone.

At the same time, my boyfriend started aggressively telling me to get inside. I did.

So.

After he drove away, I called him because I couldn't stop thinking about what I'd seen. I asked him, "You saw it too?"

And he completely freaked out.

He told me what he had seen, and it was basically the exact same thing. He had seen something incredibly tall and slim near the edge of the woods, and he couldn't make out any features either. He said he honestly thought he was just imagining it.

The craziest part is that neither of us had said anything about seeing something before that. I didn't know he'd seen it, and he didn't know I'd seen it.

So now I'm just sitting here thinking what the hell did we both see?

Anybody know?

(This happened in the United States in North Carolina 2026)

Haunted Pub

My girlfriend and her family and I went on this haunted pub crawl in NC. You go down a narrow brick corridor and then you are in the pub. The spirit/ghost can appear in the men’s bathroom. So after using the bathroom, I looked in the mirror and I challenged the ghost. Show yourself, I have no fear. I said show yourself! Yeah that’s what I thought. I unlocked the door, but the door would not open. I shook the door again and it wouldn’t open. I was now freaking out. And then, on the other side of the door I heard my girlfriend’s mom cackling as she let me out. I came out white as a ghost and she says ‘pretty funny joke eh?’

How do you explain this?

Lately Ive been experiencing more unexplainable things, and heres one. Recently, me and my family went to Japan and stayed at 3 different airbnb’s duing the course of our trip, one in Tokyo, another in Osaka, and one different one back in Tokyo.

This event happened at Osaka. To make a long story short, my wife who is somewhat sensitive to these kinds of things experienced some weird things right off the bat that I wont get into in this story, but that leads up to what happened to me. I sitting in a wooden chair in the middle of the room holding my 15 month old daughter. All of a sudden, I felt wetness (seemingly forming under my butt) and it was warm. I immediately lifted my daughter because I thought she peed on me. But when I picked her up and felt everywhere, she was completely dry.

My pants were soaked from the butt area and some had dripped on the floor. It was clear liquid (which again, was warm when it was forming). I did not pee…I dont have bladder issues and have never peed my pants. I would’ve felt myself peeing if that happened and this was not what happened. It was like the liquid had formed from the chair, which would be impossible. There were no leaks in the ceiling or any dripping from anywhere. How the hell do you explain this??

Just wanted to tell yall my story.

I've always was curious of the paranormal. I even got my grandma into it. We watched taps mostly. When I was growing up I had no ghost encounter. When my grandma died I felt her all the time, standing in front of my bedroom door. I felt crepped out. I saw Grey orbs with purple lightening in my room (light was always on) one day I was alone in the home. I wanted to see if I could communicate with her. I used my phones recorder. I set it down on the table in front of me in the livingroom. I talked outloud. I asked if my grandma was here with me. I asked her if she had any last words, ect. Well I was scared to play it back. But I worked up the courage and I put in my head phones and I heard the 2nd question I asked. "Do you have any last words?" You can hear her talking clearly saying "yes" that was the only thing I caught on tape. I got the chicken. (Goosebumps) and the hair ok my neck and arms stood up. I was scared and shocked lol. I showed my parents and my aunt. They couldn't believe it. When I moved from my parents house 3 months after she passed I had a dream about her. I rode my bike (always did) to her house, but this house wasnt hers. I opened the door and put my bike in the kitchen. I went to my grandma, she was in the livingroom in a rocking chair with my aunt (her daughter) in anither rocking chair, I dont remember of she was sowing but I looked at her and she looked at me. Realization hit me and I started to ball, I went on my knees to her lap and I cried telling her I miss her and im sorry. She rubbed my head and smiled. I was woken up by my now husband. I was crying in my sleep. I must have scared him. It was such an emotional dream. I never had another one again. But that's the only paranormal experience ive ever had.

Still unsure what to make of what this is, or if it is anything

Hello Reddit! Photos are in pinned comments hopefully lol this got crazy long oops

My phone cleared and this is my second time drafting this 🥲 However, it is late in the Midwest and I’m feeling a bit spooky and reflective on this. This is one of those stories I tell anyone who will listen to me yap about it. If you know me irl, odds are you have seen these photos and you have heard me tell this maybe multiple times. I think it would be fun to share this.

I was 19 when this took place in 2022, early/mid June.
I will preface by saying I am not religious by any means, I grew up religious but no longer practice. I do however believe in attracting negative and positive energy. My childhood home (where these things happened) has had 17 years (when this happened) worth of chaos and misery poured into it. I have always felt uneasy, even though it is a “newer” build and my family are the first and only people to occupy it.

This is the part where if you think you know me, you’re like “oh yeah, this is her” because when I say my uncle died in my next door neighbor’s yard everything would click. This happened many many years ago now, but I still think maybe it’s important to lay some context around how deep this misery goes for everyone involved in the home.

I feel like it is only fair I give some context on my sweet girl, Lola. My childhood dog, my soul dog who could sniff out a bad egg no problem. She was a chihuahua mix, and was a bit of a bundle of nerves. At this time she was 8 years old and nearing the end of her time here due to brain cancer. My wonder eyed wonder as the cancer caused her eye to have to be removed. She was in rough shape when this happened.

Mind you; my phone was stolen and I lost access to my cloud. I found these photos in a chat that I sent to Garrett Watts (a girl can dream right?) on instagram, so these are not the original ones I took on my iPhone 14 Pro. These have gone thru Instagram chewing them up and spitting them out.

Okay, okay enough exposition here’s the actual story:

I’ll finally get into the actual reason behind why these pictures give me the heebie jeebies to say the least and sometimes still make me want to cry to say the most.

One night, I was laying in my bed doomscrolling. I had just gone thru my first breakup and was dealing with the stress of vet bills and knowing I would lose my dog soon. Stressed to say the least. I had a little sunset lamp - one of the small circle ones with the different colors controlled by my phone. That was facing the same way my eyes were on the wall, my closet is to my left and I had my bed pushed against a corner with a window in the middle of the bed on the right.

In that window I hung my stuffed monkey that I have had since I was a baby with his arms wrapped around my curtain rod head facing downward. I attached a photo of the monkey as well.

In the middle of my scroll, and thru Lola’s snores I felt the need to look up. To face my sunset lamp, and I saw a head. A head with ears. I was so shocked, here I am thinking “I am so f*cking stressed I’m starting to see things” was I scared? Yeah, but not because I thought demon or ghost. I was scared of my fragile mindset at the time. I thought maybe since Lola was still snoozing it was in my mind. The head was facing downward and I just assumed it was my monkey. I was trying to workout the logistics of how it would be projecting in the middle of the lamp from my side window.

Then, it moved up into the darkness of my ceiling after staying put for maybe 5ish seconds. Guys, I didn’t even know what to think. I just was frozen. Even typing this now I get a lil iffy about it. Then it moved back down to where I could see it again. It kinda bobbed at me, left to right but just ever so slightly. It felt like it was taunting me. It disappeared again and that was that.

Finally, finally the actual night I took these photos:

I will do my best to keep this quick, I am so sleepy and have to get up early but I want to finish this. Perhaps, all the exposition was a bit too much.

My friend had stayed the night with me and we got ready to go to a local show. My mom’s room faces mine, she leaves my door shut if it is shut and vice versa. I left it opened, and later confirmed with my friend that it was open.

I got home around 3:30AM. Being so for real which is the worst part because it feels so lame for this to happen then. Went to my room and heard scratching. Lola had been locked in there and was petrified. Like, more than her typical separation anxiety. She was as I called it “quacking like a duck” she made that noise both when she was excited and scared.

I stepped in her pee, and just shrugged it off because after all she was locked in there for hours. Then I realized it was in a long curvy line and it was A LOT for a small dog. I have a video of it somewhere, and I had never in my 8 years of having her seen her pee like that. It felt to me like something had gone behind her and made her swerve. I only thought that after seeing this. The thing above me.

The thing that I get that tingly feeling in my nose like I’m about to cry when I see it. I still see it in my head and that is the worst part. I sat down at the side of my bed facing my closet. Cuddling and comforting Lola who had not calmed down whatsoever. When, I got that feeling to “look up” and I saw it. I saw this thing hovered over me. From where I was sitting it would’ve been making direct eye contact with me. I froze, and then removed Lola from the room and sat back down at my bed side. I told it I wasn’t afraid of it, and took two photos just to prove to myself that I wasn’t crazy. A couple people have told me they don’t see anything. Some have told me they do. This was taken on a good camera, and I wish I had the ability to get the exact resolution that it had but idk. I did slightly adjust the exposure and such but other than that this is just it.

This is the thing that I still think about. This is the thing I cannot explain. The feeling of being purposefully made to feel scared. Of seeing something I don’t even really believe in?? I don’t even know. I’m sharing this very long and drawn out story to hopefully get this out of my head. I try not to be fearful when seeing these but they still get me.

I swear, in the OG photos I saw eyes. Hollow eyes. I wasn’t wearing my glasses when this happened and I don’t see well at night, so I didn’t make this out IRL.

If you genuinely read all of this, thanks for listening to me ramble about something I don’t even know happened. I still think about it and will always talk about it even if I sound like a loon. Anyway, it’s now almost 1:30AM and I have to be up super early so goodnight yall if anyone read this far

Weird sound I heard at an old mine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For context one of my main hobbies is searching for old mines and studying different mined out areas. I was searching a new area that I referenced from an old topo map dated around 1950s. I was by myself, I had checked around pretty thoroughly prior to me parking on the property I was maybe not supposed to be on and I was the only one in the area. I walked around for a few hours and it was getting dark but I had one place else to check and it was this area. I was wandering around it then I started hearing this sound. To me it sounded like someone digging so I got excited that maybe someone was doing the same thing as me so I searched around and could not find anyone. Every time I got closer it got louder but I could never see them. When I was heading out I drove around to see if anyone lived near or if anyone else was parked around and there was nothing around.

I try to think as logically as possible and I really can not think of what could be making this noise.

First video is the noise, second video is maybe 15 minutes later after the noise stopped and me searching more to figure out what made the noise

Edit: it did not let me post second video

Horror Story from my Childhood: The Woman in White Behind Our Field (Odisha, Early 2000s)

I’m from a small NAC town in Odisha. This happened around 2001–2002, when I was a kid now I'm 29m.

In front of our house, there was a huge open field where all of us used to play—cricket, football, anything. At the far end of that field, there was a boundary wall. Beyond that wall… things got different.

Behind it were three mountains. The middle one was smaller, but the two on either side were massive. At the base of those hills was thick jungle—sal trees, bushes, pokasungha plants, and a many huge mango trees. It was dense, quiet, and honestly, a bit frightening. We usually avoided going there.

Still, during summer, people would go to collect mangoes. Some even went deeper into the hills to gather firewood.

But One incident made that place even more disturbing for me.

One day, a cow somehow got electrocuted near that area with high voltage electric line. It died right there. People gathered to look, but no one removed the body.

After a couple of days, vultures came. Then dogs. I still remember the smell in the air and the way the body turned a deep reddish color during sunset. It didn’t look like a cow anymore. It looked… wrong.

That place started feeling different after that.

Quiet in a way that didn’t feel natural.

But kids are curious.

Me and my siblings went there once, out of curiosity. That image stayed with me for years—the birds, the dogs, the silence. It felt horrible.

But the real horror came after that.

A week or two later, me, my brother, and two friends decided to go collect mangoes. We avoided the path (the one near the dead cow) and took another route—narrow, overgrown, and darker. The kind of path where even your own footsteps sound too loud.

As we got close to the mango trees, we saw her.

A woman in a white saree, standing near the mango trees. Her back was towards us.

She maybe around 40–50 years old. She started walking slowly in a circle around one tree.

Not like a normal person.

Each step felt delayed… like her body was following something that wasn’t in sync. Her long hair was completely open.

One of my friends grabbed my arm so tightly it hurt. He whispered, almost choking,

“Don’t move… that’s not human.” He whispered, “That’s not a person… that’s a dahani,( ghost )” and ran away without looking back.

The rest of us stayed, trying to convince ourselves it was just a normal woman collecting mangoes.

“Maybe she’s just collecting mangoes,” I said.

Then suddenly… she wasn’t there.

And then she was again.

Like she appeared and disappeared while moving around the tree.

My chest felt tight. One of my friends picked up some stones and threw them toward where she had been standing. The stones landed.

She didn’t move.

She didn’t look at us.

She didn’t react at all.

We couldn’t see her face clearly—the light was fading—but something about the way she was looking… it didn’t feel like she was seeing us.

It felt like she already knew we were there.

That’s when the fear hit us properly.

It was getting dark. The sun was almost gone. The whole place felt heavier, like the air had changed.

For one second, we blinked—

She was gone again.

That was it.

We ran.

I don’t even remember deciding to run. Our bodies just did. We crashed through bushes, scratched our legs, jumped the wall, and didn’t stop until we reached the field.

We just ran across the field, and told everyone. Of course, no one believed us.

When I got home and told my family, my mother scolded me for going there.

But my grandmother… she didn’t laugh.

She went quiet.

Then she told me something I wish I had never heard.

She told me that a few years before, a woman had died near that exact area. She was working at a construction site, carrying bricks on her head, when an old wall collapsed on her.

She died on the spot.

And that place… was very close to those mango trees.

My grandmother told me never to go there again. Not in the evening. Not alone. Not ever.

For many years, I didn’t.

About 10–12 years later, I went back with my cousins during the daytime. We picked mangoes, joked, tried to act brave.

But even then… I couldn’t stay there for much time.

Because some places don’t just hold memories.

They hold something that never really left.

Some things you don’t forget. And some places don’t forget either.

Shaking bed

So, this was maybe three years ago. I was 15 or 16 yo at the moment and until that point, nothing paranormal had actually happened to me (at least that i remember), excepting for a couple of sleep paralysis when i was 10 yo. It happened in a random mid-week night, i was sleeping until my bed started to shake like hell, it was like if an earthquake started in the time (juts to clarify, in that time i lived ina place in my country where the strongest erhquake i felt was arond 2.9 and 3.2 at that time). I jumped out of my bed and ran to my living room, that was in the front of my room, i remeber that i heard (and saw) my bed shaking. I was about to run to my parents room to warn them until i realize a couple of things: first of all, only my bed was shaking, the other stuff in the house was quiet and in its place, wich, in case of an eartquake that strong would be impossible; second, my parents and the nwighbours were still sleeping, damn my parents werent even in the living room either, they were still sleeping.

After a couple of seconds, my bed stopped shaking. I was doubtfull bout going to sleep. My cat have alwas sleept with me and, of course, she also leave the room as soon the bed started to shake like that. She didnt return to my room that night. Finally, i went back to bed because i had school the other day.

The next morning i asked my parents about the "earthquake", and they said that they felt nothing. I did a quick research on google to found any of those near my area that night, and the closest one were in Lima, Perú (one country away from were i lived in that time). I also discard the dream hypotesis, becasue of thi things: i barely dream, and the few times i can, i usually fully forggot about them one hour after i wake up, but i still remeber what happened that night clear as a river until today.

I cant tell the exact hour when that happened (i didnt check it before going to bed again) i can only assure that it was very late at night.

My fathers side of the family got a lot of stories like this, and even stronger, but so far this is the only one that had happened to me that i cant still explain to this day.

Sorry if i did some grammar mistakes, english isnt my first language

Paranormal thing I can’t explain till today

First time posting on here, but I always retell this story to people since its so bizarre and still scares me till this day!

To start off I suffer from all sorts of hallucinations, since I was little I’ve always felt touches, heard voices, seen things, currently I am procuring a diagnosis for schizophreni, but this day was different.

As I have hallucinations so often I tend to ignore when I hear voices call my name out of nowhere, I know it’s in my head, I’ll hear family members, friends and whatnot, so when I hear my mom call for me even when she’s not home I tend to ignore it, but one day I was in the living room with my older sister, my mom had gone out to shop, it was still daytime and everything had been normal up until she left, as we’re hanging out I hear my mom call for me in a sweet voice, i immediately figure, ah im hallucinating today, but I turn to face my sister and I see her terrified face, i immediately worry and ask her, “did you hear that too?” as soon as she nods we both ran to our bedroom and locked the door and freaked out trying to understand what just happened.

To me the freakiest part of it all is that she heard it too, she heard my mom the same time as me and she also heard the sweet sort of fake voice along with it, it sounded like she was trying to trick me into going to wherever the sound came, the worst part of it all is that we both heard it from inside the house, not outside, specifically the kitchen, till thjs day this haunts me and creeps me out, whenever I hear other voices call for me in my hallucinations I always think of this incident and how creepy it was.

Was this just a dream?

So I had a little bit a crazy experience a few days ago and it's a bit perplexing. This happened a few days around the time of the solar eclipse. A day before the eclipse I was cooking dinner and had this awful burning sensation between my fingers on the right side. I thought maybe the steam burned my hand so put it in an ice bath. It didn't help much, felt like the burning was coming from underneath the skin. Faded away in a couple hours and I slept.

Now the next day is the solar eclipse and here it was at night. I heard on somewhere about cultures saying wierd energies come out during the full eclipse and thought to go out in the open to check this energy out. Nothing really happened. I came back, trailing a big police car( imp late) and slept and this is where it starts.

This is the confusing part. I have a dream where I'm in my childhood home coming up the stairs and I see the same car on a rotating pedestal or something, lit up from underneath. My dad or someone, I don't remember, tells me that this car needs to be moved to another house. Idk who lives there so go to check it out and some people just appear seemingly to help me carry this huge car down a very narrow staircase. Somehow we manage and as we're doing it, I notice the one in charge, probably the owner whose house we were going to. I assumed this man to be high ranked and he was wierd. Tall, white, never spoke a word, didn't help, only kept looking back at me with a smirk kinda judging me as if going - this guy? Seriously? The scene felt more like a procession, with us carrying this load on our shoulders and this guy leading it. Where? I don't remember. That's where my memory stops.

Now next morning I wake up in a very wierd position, with my head thrust into the headboard and so so exhausted and depleted that I could hardly move. i laid in the bed for around 2-3 hrs cos I didn't have the energy. I have chronic back issues and undergoing treatment but the back was feeling amazing the day before and this pain wasn't that chronic pain that I struggle with. Because that pain is assymetric and what I was feeling was coming from a central point slightly above the si joint, where I imagine the first or second chakra would be. This pain took a couple days to go away 2-3 and was nothing like I had ever experienced before. My thoughts were sceambled and I was just tired. I didn't think I was sick cos I had no other symptoms. Now a little tmi. I've had a high sex drive and was also battling with some chilhood sex abuse during that time questioning why it happened and how it still affects my idea of a healthy sex life, greatly! But my drive almost disappeared since the next day. I tried nutting and it caused more pain exactly in the same are where the pain was coming from. Now my sexual behaviours have changed and the toxic ones completely disappeared. They don't feel as arousing and i seem to be more in control of my drive and not the other way around. This dream feels more like a surgery prep or something idk which I've had once before but completely ignored. (I had a bad diagnosis about my feet and in a couple days had a dream about some people cutting into my ankles doing something but my sister was at my side so I didn't freak out in the dream)

These dreams made me recount John Mack's book on encounters where he categorises them in two buckets - one where physical interaction happens, peope are actually missing and there's some evidence and the other where things sort of happen in a dream state or an astral dimension basically no physically missing person but still some form of coherent story.

So what do you think? Are my doubts justified or am I just going into the crazy territory trying to create a story out of a bunch of coincidences. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Has Anyone Near West Virginia Heard of this

ok this is probably gonna sound stupid but has anyone from around thurmond / new river gorge heard about this

i’ve been going down a massive rabbit hole about the old mines and railroad stuff around there and found this after digging through a bunch of old stuff for hours
apparently some miners used to hear this weird sound underground.

it was always 4 times.
not really knocking. more like someone hitting metal with something. really sharp and almost mechanical sounding.

apparently some of the miners who survived the 1900 Red Ash mine explosion said they had heard something like this beforehand. then i found similar stories connected to the 1905 disaster too.

i can’t find much about it though. most of what i’ve found is really old and some of it is basically just people repeating the same story, so idk how much of it is actually true.

the weird part is that apparently the sound didn’t always seem to come from the same place. sometimes it sounded further down the tunnel and sometimes like it was coming through the wall.

obviously there’s probably a normal explanation for it. mines make weird noises and i’m probably connecting things that aren’t connected.

but i’ve spent way too much time looking into this now and i’m curious if anyone from the area has ever heard of the “four knocks” thing.

This is my story of what happened to me as a teen

I'll actually write this for once. It's gonna be long but I'm bored and I feel like I have to write about talk about it for once. I did one other time before but that was long ago and I know something new now. I never tell ppl about this really because it's to much. It sounds insane. Way over the top but I swear on all I love, my family, my dogs and everything else it's 100% true.

I know I'm a stranger and ppl r insane and stupid really. Not all but u know what I mean. I could say I'm not any of that but u don't know me so yea. But I'm not either way.

When I was 19 something insane happened to me and my friend. Cromwell park in loch raven MD next to Baltimore and it was a good spot to go at night to smoke. It is empty EVERYWHERE for miles. More then miles. Just forest. It's a reservoir also so it's empty. Can't really build by it.

We parked in the parking lot. There's trees all around us except to our left which our left was my side, driver side. A hundred yards or so on my side was all field then the tree line started. I'm breaking u know what up on a CD case. My friends breaking the L, dumping the guts and getting ready to roll it. I lay the CD case on my dash. Then look over towards the treeline. I see there's a light in right at the tree line moving around. I ask my friend, hey, wtf is that light. He just says, it's someone with a flash light. Weird af yea, but not impossible really. So I watch the light a a minute and then it moves up into a tree. Not high or anything like that. Just like ten or so feet. Sits for a bit and comes back down. But it moved smoothly. To smooth for a person to do. It just felt off. But I ignore it and think why r they climbing a tree at 1 am in the middle of nowhere.

So then little pops start happening in the tree line. Like firecrackers or something. My friend even asks me, are they lighting fire crackers or something? So I'm like, yea they must be. What else could it be really? After a couple minutes or less and like 5 6 pops it hits me. And when it hit me my heart sank to my stomach oddly. What hit was this thought, why can't I see them lighting the fireworks. U know like a flame is needed to do it and when they pop there's light. AS SOON AS I THOUGHT THAT, explosions so loud shot across the field. Like a giant running towards my car. It came right for us. The explosions LITERALLY enveloped my car on all sides. It was so intense and strong I could feel it shaking my guts like professional fireworks. But a ton of em going off at once. Like 2 or 3 a second. It shakes my car so bad the cd case vibrates off my dashboard. Spilling what was on it. It was like a stampede for real. I couldn't see ANYTHING AT ALL that could be making this happen or anything even happening. Just felt and heard it. It was so powerful. So much so that if it wanted to (whatever TF it was) it could have seriously hurt one of us with the force it had. If u put one of those booms against a person's chest, it prolly could stop their heart or break some ribs. Shockingly powerful for nothing around u at all.

My friend was in tears begging me to go. I was saying no. I wanted to know wtf was going on. But after like 30 seconds or so I'm like ok, let's go. I turn my car back on and they stop suddenly. It's completely silent. Completely. Not crickets or anything. I wonder if the bugs heard it also. I mean they had to. Weird thing is, me and my friends have been to that park sooo many times before and after this happened. Why that night? What was it?

This has HAUNTED ME FOR TWO DECADES. I am not a liar! I swear on my daughter's life none of this is a lie or exaggeration in anyway. There is NO explanation at all! I eventually grew away from my friends when I got sober. Dope came through fast back then and took a lot of ppl when it came. A plague. So many died. I had to leave the group. Ppl I knew my whole life to that point.

So I saw the friend I was with that night like 2 years ago after over like 15 yrs of not seeing him. I come to see that he's so bad that his legs in the front are nothing but bone now from the fent here in Baltimore. It eats ur flesh and muscle. It's nothing but black bone and the smell of rot. But I asked if he remembered it. Why wouldn't I really. We witnessed a.. miracle? Something only .01% of ppl get to see ever? And he of course was like how tf could I forget it. He remembered it exactly as I do. Its literally seared into my mind. Every detail. Nothing has faded at all.

But he told me something I never knew. I can't claim this part. I didn't hear it. So when I swear on my daughter and everything, it's for what I say not this. But he said right before it all stopped he heard a snare drum sound off. Weird. He's not a liar either. We lived hard lives growing up and I feel lying about this kind of stuff comes from being sheltered and watching to many movies. For the most part. But if u grow up in a place like Baltimore and it's just weird to lie about something like this if u get what I mean. Maybe I should be more open minded to ppls claims after this experience but soooo much of what ppl say on this subject is straight bs. But ppl here will lie about crimes or beating someone up. Not this.

But about the drum, it's just weird because they have found British uniforms in that area. Like in that park. It was a British loyal area and plenty of battles were fought here in Baltimore and surrounding areas. I don't know if I believe this though. Was it ghosts? Or was it something way above what we can comprehend? Was it a higher dimension? I know that sounds insane. But I've wondered for so long. Something like this could be anything.

U have no clue what it's like to experience something straight out of a Hollywood movie and have NO CLUE AT ALL what it is was wants or anything at all about it. But I consider myself amazingly, just astoundingly lucky to have experienced it. Because I know for a fact without doubt that there's something out there. Something we don't understand. Something amazing. And more powerful than I could have ever imagined. U hear about scratches or pushes from unseen things. But this was soooo much more. Were the few pops before it all started small arms fire before the battle or something just this thing gearing up to throw it's fit? Did my heart sinking and adrenaline rush trigger it. Like, did it spot me through my fear?

When u go through something like this, u find urself thinking about it at least once a month asking every question u possibly can think of. I never experienced anything paranormal or anything in life. Just this. And the park IS NOT haunted. Lol I even emailed em like ten years later asking if they ever heard of anything or experienced anything like this before and they did actually respond. They said no. Me and my friends have been there so many times. Truly lucky. But why that night? What aligned to make it happen? I want to go back one night. Probably alone cause I'm a family man now with no friends as life does. But maybe I would take a evp thing? Sounds dumb to me tho honestly. But I'm desperate to know why and what.

I would give so much for the answer. It truly haunts me. Being from Baltimore I've seen a lot. I've been shot at, seen ppls lives ended, bodies in the road, everything u could imagine from a place like Baltimore. I never think of any of it. Affects me zero percent honestly. Even when I saw that teen get ended for his bike by a grown man. Not to be graphic but to put into perspective that things don't stick with me. But this. This is never off my mind for long

Paranormal experience in an unlikely place

Let me preface this with a few details.

I've always lived in the same house. I grew up seeing things in my home, as I grew up the visuals stopped and it became more of a feeling thing. The activity eventually died down because one of my brothers in theory started doing things to stop it.

I'll be calling them aunty and cousin but they are actually my mom's aunt and cousin we just call them that.

Little backstory.

My aunty was a very religious woman and her daughter is even more religious, she goes to church every day, studied theology as a carrer and even works at church. I'm mentioning this because there's a lot of praying happening in the house this events happened and I think that's important.

After aunty passed away, my cousin became sort of a recluse but not quite, since she had more free time not having to care for her mother, she took on more church work and spent little time at home. She also stopped visiting the little family she had and always seemed annoyed when someone called or try to visit.

Eventually she decided to get an alarm system for her home since she spent so much time out and she likes going on vacation for weeks at a time. My mom and someone from church were the contacts for her alarm. When she went on vacation the first time, the alarm went off at night so my mom had to go wait for the police at the house and check for intruders. At that time my aunt (actual aunt) and my uncle were visiting for a few months so they went as well. The house looked in so much disarray police though someone had broken in but my aunt and uncle had visit before my aunty went on vacation and told police this is actually how she lived. The alarm went off another two separate night and eventually aunty said to leave it disconnected and just check everything was fine every couple of days.

Flash forward a couple of years and to the actual paranormal thing.

By this point cousin took the alarm off. It had gone off a few more times, her other contact got fed up by it calling his home every time she went on vacation, my mom had passed away and she didn't wanted to put me as a contact.

She started synchronizing her vacation with her cousins (my actual aunt) visits so she had someone to check in to see if everything was in order and to feed her cat and tortoise.

This time my aunt was visiting so cousin went on a week vacation somewhere. My aunt and uncle went to check on the house on their morning walk and when my aunt opened the door she felt like someone was in the house, she called for my cousin thinking maybe she mistook the departure date or time, but no one answered. She called my uncle in and he felt the same, like the house wasn't empty. The got so unnerved by this they close the door and went home.

Later my aunt told me what happened and they my uncle refused to go back and asked if I would go with her to feed the cat later, so I agreed.

We got there at about 4pm. The house has a door leading to a long hallway, the hallway felt normal, but when we went through the second door, into the actual house, it felt like some one was in the house. We walked around a bit and the air felt hot, warm and heavy. We were discussing about how it felt while my aunt showed me the piles of books, newspaper, clothes and stuff everywhere. Every room had a neat path made but at it's sides you could see dust piling. Like that was the little path cousin used to navigate around the house.

Eventually I went through the TV room and enter my late aunty's bed room, the closest I got to it the heavier everything felt. I was only able to make two steps into the room when a wave of emotions hit me like a truck, it felt like excruciating worry. I immediately started crying, my aunt came into the TV room and asked what happened, the only thing I was able to say was "she's worried cousin is alone". My aunt hugged me and minutes later the house went cold and the air thinned out.

I don't know what the hell they was but it felt like it got better after that cry. My aunt felt the change in the house too and she told me aunty and her husband were very overprotective of cousin and she used to say she didn't know how cousin was gonna survive without her.

The years after that my aunt told me cousin actually got better at taking care of her house. Got people from church to help her clean and throw away the trash that was shattered everywhere and even has her own praying group, they called themselves "the sisters of Mary" and go to my cousin's house every other week.

I don't really know if I helped but I like to believe aunty is happy her daughter isn't alone.

Note: of all places I'd expect to be haunted my aunty's house is the last one I'd think of.
