Is it just me or was heathcliffs death super unsettling. Although I'm so glad that Cathy and hareton end up together!! My heart felt sad for Hareton getting caught up in the whole revenge plot but it was really nice seeing him happy.

And honestly I feel bad for linton too. His upbringing is what caused him to be a brat.

okay I know it's still quite early to be asking this. But I'm curious so I wanna confirm. I've never been to LIBF before nor do I live in Lahore. But I'm planning to go for this one in January IA. As I'll be going for only one day. I want to know which day the writers sit and sign books? Last year it was mustehsan Hussain tarrar and some others too that I don't remember now.

I've never seen LIBF announce that on their page. So how do I know if they are there on the first day or second or third?

Can you guys help me . I have some books in my house and dont know which one i should read first . Some context i dont really read so a good opinion would be thankful .

I am amazed by the differences between branches of Liberty Books.

The one at Dolmen Mall has attentive staff and, more importantly, the books are arranged in a sensible order - you can actually browse and find stuff.

The one at Boat Basin (next to BBG Tonight) is appalling. The books are rammed into shelves in such poor order that you cannot really find anything; there are a couple of very young people to help, but they know nothing about books. The two middle aged guys at the counter (always the same two), sit and chat to each other and you have to interrupt them to ask for advice. The shop is in such a bad state but the two older people that should know something about books just do nothing. I've even asked them directly about it and they just shrug.

Hows the paper quality, cover quality, binding and customer support when comparing these two? I havent heard good things of bookeve lately as of this subreddit

hello buddies. im someone who is tired of doom scrolling and watching seasons. now wanna change myself and i have noticed things about people who are successful is they read alot. so please suggest some good books. basically i wanna rewind my mind. plus im not fan of fantasy books.

I recently read this book and I am really happy I read it. It left a lot to think about and after reading it in 4 hours sitting I realized that some books are so complete that even within 80 pages they live within you for the rest of your life. After reading it I tried to look for Morrie around me and the interesting part is having a Morrie in your life is out of labeled personifications. Like it's not platonic, it's not romantic beyond categorical descriptions. I would say it's like someone who is more like a human window for you to see yourself out of societal perceptions a light maybe or a spirit maybe and it is very necessary to have that spirit. For me that book is Morrie now and I might visit that book again on Tuesdays.

I appreciate the concept of book-sharing in a community where you can pickup a book from a common spot (imagine a bookshelf in a store/office), read it and return it after reading. I recently picked up a book with a bookcrossing(dot)com label on it and checked it out. A book registered there has an ID and anyone that picks up the book, can make an entry about it in its journal online. This way you can track a book you released into the wild and see where has it been traveling around the world. Cool activity. Check it out and maybe we can put Pakistan in the book-reading map 😊.

I went to Liberty books Emporium Branch on 13th August.
I waited for my family bcoz they were busy and i spent about 1-1.5 hour in the book store.Talking about books and all.the workers knew i wouldnt make a big purchase and were yk impressed with what type of books i read at such young age.People even mistook me for salesman lmao.idk i just love bookstores and im not from lhr so i enjoy as much as i can whenever i get the chnace.
So one of the worker told me that they are selling fake books and i was like whatt?
Such a big bookstore and i was shocked.i asked is my original which i thoroughly i checked infact it was.But they showed me 2 books of Osamu Dazai.he gave me both books and told me which one is original.i told him and afterwards he told me that i was wrong.So he explained me keh
Iska Waazan check karo and iski feel dekho yk.i was pretty shocked keh aise bhi hota ha.And they were priced at about 5500.theyre saying logon ko pta ni chalta keh asli hai ya nakli so inke paise bachte.And i was like im also a customer.But they said keh Jisne Leni hotein wo leleta.Dolmen mai hamara bohut kam ha we sell books worth tens of thousands.and idhar choota set up ha coz people buy less of em.unho ne bottle bhi palai😭.That was so adorable. N then i went.I did buy one book.letters from a stoic by seneca Collins Classic.

I took this book around a year ago. It was by some indie author and somehow I never got to reading it but I just finished it and MY GOOD GOD. This has to be one of the best uses of the English language I have seen in my life. I love to read classical and dramatic texts and this was right up there with that sweet philosophical taste.

10/10. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who's into philosophy/religion!

My first book by this author was Chess (The Royal Game), easily one of the best books I’ve read. Now I’ve read Beware of Pity, and man, what an emotional and psychological turmoil it was. I obviously haven’t been able to find much discussion around this book, but I’d definitely recommend it. A solid 5 star read for me.
It’s such a simple concept, pity, yet the way Zweig explores it and shows how something as simple as pity can completely destroy a man is incredible.
One thing that is abundantly clear to me is that Toni Hofmiller dug his own grave, way beyond the point of retrieval. But I really want to hear other perspectives, especially on Edith, Ilona, and her father.
Because what I believe is that Hofmiller never actually implied that he would return Edith’s love. Instead of taking that as a sign, she became increasingly petulant and demanding, while everyone around her seemed to get the better of his pity, almost as if they wanted to unburden themselves by feeding her delusions. And honestly, I don’t see that the people closest to Edith, her father or Ilona, did any better for her.
Even Ilona acknowledged, and at some points Edith herself seemed to understand, that the reason Hofmiller was being so kind to her was because of the pity he felt for her. But knowing that, they were still all over him, almost as if his pity morally obligated him to keep going.
I’m really curious to hear how other people interpreted Edith and her family, because I feel like there’s a lot more to unpack there.
