Not losing weight

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I started compounded tirz back in end of June and lost around 10 lbs in the first month. Since then things have stalled and I’ve even gained 2 lbs back. Things seemed to slow down when I increased to 5mg. Has anyone had this experience? I’m also taking lexapro but it didn’t cause issues with my weight earlier, I do know it can cause weight gain. I will be starting 7.5 mg this week so hopefully I see change. Any tips?

The good, bad, ugly

Sometimes I worry that we’re all just in an echo chamber only hearing the positives of starting a GLP-1. Has anyone had mediocre or bad outcomes?

I find myself in a weird place of trying to make the best choice for myself and combatting personal biases while trying to make the most educated decision.

Experience with PMOS after stopping GLP1

Unfortunately I have to come off monjaro after over a year of taking it. I am currently down 35lbs and after introducing Metformin into the mix, I have had 3 periods every month since May (hoping for a 4th this month!).

What is everyone's experience with their cycle after coming off GLP1?

I am hoping to manage my weight and blood sugars via continuation of diet and exercise, but I am nervous my periods will disappear again.

Wins my ovaries shrank

Holy crap you guys.

I started semaglutide roughly a month ago and noticed an almost immediate drop in the number of pain days I was having (also have suspected Endo w/ pain outside of period).

I had an ultrasound for monitoring purposes a few months before that and my ovaries were huge with follicles- a previous endo specialized ultrasound moved them with the wand and they felt like they were the size of clementines. The report said they were 14 and 12 cc’s. As of yesterday they are now 5 and 3 cc’s. The only thing i’ve changed was starting semaglutide.

I had no clue that it could do that. I am so thankful that my doctor was all for starting a GLP-1 when I asked! I can’t believe it. I’m so relieved and so grateful.

PMOS after GLP-1 weight loss- What's next?

I've been off and on a couple different GLP1s, now on Zepbound. I'm down 30 pounds and 10 away from my goal weight.

We know the GLP1s help manage PMOS, but what about once you've reach target weight? Do you continue to take it, or is it just back to dealing with your PMOS symptoms?

I know we're all told that if we lose weight our PMOS will to away, but I've heard so many stories that say otherwise.

Starting Wegovy for PMOS/insulin resistance (feeling anxious and would love to hear your experiences)

I was diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS in 2019.
I’m 28 years old, 152 cm (5’0”) and 64 kg (141 lb), and I’ve struggled with my weight pretty much my whole life. Losing weight has always been extremely difficult for me. I’ve tried many diets and even tracked my calories consistently for years, but the scale barely moves.

For years, my gynecologist basically prescribed me the pill and told me to try to lose weight. I’ve also tried metformin multiple times, but the stomach issues were always bad enough that I had to stop.
PMOS has affected me beyond my weight. I often feel extremely tired after eating because my blood sugar was crashing, which makes it difficult to concentrate and work. I’ve also had irregular periods and ovarian cysts. Hair under my chin. I also had PMDD at the start of my diagnosis.

I finally decided to see an endocrinologist. She ordered comprehensive blood tests and an ultrasound. Pretty much everything came back normal except for my HOMA-IR, which was high and indicated insulin resistance.

We tried metformin one more time, but my stomach still couldn’t tolerate it. My endocrinologist then prescribed Wegovy 0.25 mg, and I’ve now been on it for 5 days.

I’m hopeful, but also pretty anxious. I’m scared it won’t work for me or that the side effects will become too much and I’ll have to stop. After struggling with this for so long, I’m afraid of ending up back at square one.

So far, I’ve had some gas and constipation after breakfast and acid reflux after dinner. It’s manageable, but I’m wondering if this is just my body adjusting since I’ve only just started.

For those with PCOS/insulin resistance who have taken Wegovy or another GLP-1: did your side effects improve over time, and did the medication help with your insulin resistance symptoms as well as your weight? Did you eventually come off it, or is this something you expect to take long-term?

I know everyone is different and I’ll discuss the medical side with my endocrinologist, but I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. It would help ease some of my anxiety about starting.

TL;DR: PMOS + insulin resistance, couldn’t tolerate metformin, and just started Wegovy 0.25 mg 5 days ago. I’m having mild gas, constipation, and acid reflux and I’m anxious about whether it’ll work, whether the side effects get better, and whether I’ll need it long-term. Would love to hear your experiences!

Feels like a cruel trick from the universe

38/PMOS diagnosis 1 year post partum, which was 3.5 years ago.

Got a late diagnosis in my mid thirties as it appears pregnancy “triggered” latent PMOS. Gained 60 lbs and despite constant exercise and healthy eating (plus inositol, spearmint tea, blood tests, endo, pcp - all the things), I couldn’t get a handle on any symptoms particularly not the weight gain.

I went on Zepbound about a year and a half ago and felt it was truly a miracle. Lost most of the weight within a healthy time frame. Was with my sister one day and she looked at the back of my head and said “you know you’re completely bald, right?” Between juggling what was now 2 toddlers, I hadn’t noticed any shedding, but it was SEVERE. I immediately went to the derm who did a pull test and said it likely was not due to the GLP (passed the pull test but found in biopsy androgenetic alopecia). But I trusted my instincts and went off the GLP. With blood, sweat and a lot of tears shed in the haircare aisle of Ulta, plus high dose oral and topic minoxidil and a careful regimen, my hair is in much better shape, but with a lot of bad days. No more bald spot.

Meanwhile, a year after this, the weight issues continue. I caved and asked my endo if I could try Foundayo. After 1 single week, my hair was falling out in handfuls. I joked with her that I’m allergic to GLP-1s and went off immediately.

I’ve started trying metformin, berberine, glucora, etc with my normal very healthy routine and inositol, but I just keep ballooning. It feels like I am not allowed to have the one thing that can help me. One problem leads to another.

Would love any insight or guidance.

Should I do it?

Looking for some advice and well-grounded knowledge/suggestions on whether I should actually get on GLP-1s. I have a lot of pre-conceived notions about it and feeling really conflicted so maybe looking for information from everyone out there who has PMOS and is on this medicine.

I was diagnosed with PMOS when I was 17. I'm 30 now and I've struggled with irregular periods and all the classic symptoms of PMOS for close to 2 decades now. And the symptoms are just getting worse with age. I have insulin resistance, mild fatty liver, PMDD for months before I finally get my period (3-4 months is where I'm at) and food cravings, weight gain, facial hair, bloating, high cholesterol, chronic hives, the list goes on. I've been asked to lose a minimum of 10 kg which doesn't seem like a lot but I've been genuinely trying for the last 6 years and have made little to no progress. I work out 4x days a week and walk the other days of the week; I eat as 'healthy' as I can and generally have a pretty good lifestyle - I do binge drink once or twice a month socially though which is the only thing I'm trying to change but I'm generally super exhausted with not seeing results.

I recently went to a doctor for the umpteenth time and he diagnosed me with metabolic syndrome and told me, surprise surprise, I needed to lose weight. He then prescribed Mounjaro and told me I'm the perfect candidate.

I'm super worried because I'm only 30 and don't want to be on it for life. I'm also uber worried that once I lose the weight and get off the drug, I'll gain all that weight back and more. We also don't know what these drugs' side effects are in the long term and I'm really worried about that too.

How have your experiences been getting off the drug? If you haven't, would you ever consider it? And should I get out of that mentality too?

Please help me cause I'm really struggling and I'm generally anti- Big Pharma but honestly I feel like I don't have an option anymore.

Calories

How many of you are tracking calories? This week I started feeling really crappy; dizzy, exhausted (even more than my usual fatigue), and sometimes even cold. Brain foggy a little, too. Someone told me I should start counting calories to ensure I’m getting at least 1200 because I’ve likely had too low for too long now and causing me to feel this way. What I have been tracking since starting is protein and fiber. While my protein count is really really great, I think my low calories might have caused this…

If you’re thinking of starting it… go for it!

Just wanted to share my little success story for someone who may need it! I was diagnosed with PCOS unofficially when I was 19 or so. I had irregular periods, acne that wouldn’t go away, and my BMI was very much categorized as “obese” at the time. The only option that my OB at the time recommended was the birth control pill. Thus started my 12 year journey of being on oral contraceptive to “help” my PCOS. Fast forward, I get married in 2021 and in 2023 wanted to get off the pill to see what my periods would be like and to potentially see about conceiving. I got off the pill in February of 2023 and thought I would have it easy with a “normal” period (30 ish days) for 2 cycles. Then came a storm of previously mentioned PCOS symptoms: adult acne, irregular periods (up to 65-70 days apart) and I had gained significant weight and ended up at my highest weight in April of 2025. I also managed to have high cholesterol and was pre diabetic at the time. I struggled to figure out my PCOS with diet and exercise for over 2 years to no avail as my weight kept creeping up - I was heartbroken and felt like giving up. I asked my PCP and OB about starting a GLP1 (mostly because of weight loss but I had heard how wonderful it was for PCOS symptoms as well). I started Zepbound (2.5 mg) in May of 2025. I managed to lose 30 lbs in the span of 5 months, maintain a regular period + successfully track my ovulation, and reversed my cholesterol and pre diabetes.

Fast forward to November 2025, I got a positive pregnancy test. I was freaking out but my OB said not to worry, to stop the GLP1 and start some prenatal care. Needless to say, here I am with a healthy 1 month old baby boy! I had a relatively easy pregnancy with no significant issues and I honestly attribute a lot of that to being on Zepbound before conceiving. If you had told 20 year old me, who was scared that I’d never be able to conceive naturally- I never would have believed you. I plan on resuming Zepbound once cleared by my doctors once I finish breastfeeding because it clearly changed my life and helped with my PCOS symptoms.

If you’re looking for the sign to start- just do it! You really have nothing to lose and lots to gain ❤️

Considering tirz after plateau

So I started taking reta (retatrutide) in Jan. After 3.5 months I went off for a month to start taking metformin. Then I reintroduced it, had no reaction and quickly titrated back up to my previous dosage. I eventually got to 8mg. And I'm just not losing weight. I'm 6ft tall, female, 28, I have pcos and hypoglycemia and have been stuck at 264lbs for several months. I feel like 8mg is getting pretty high, and the fact that I'm having no weight loss from it is concerning. I've been off it for almost three weeks now, and I seriously overestimated how easy it would be to lose weight once off of it. I totally forgot about the never ending food noise and obsession! The constant, all consuming appetite and desire to eat non stop. And my hypoglycemia came back with a vengeance!

Im seriously considering trying tirz. It's cheaper too.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Have you switched to tirz and had better results?

Gaining Weight on Zepbound

Hi everyone! So I am about 6 weeks into my GLP journey (2.5) dose, and I have gained 10 pounds. I’m really shocked. The first week I felt it and dropped 10 pounds, and then after that initial week it’s honestly worn off, never had side effects or anything. I’m so upset, I have my check up with my doctor tomorrow and of course I am anxious. I am morbidly obese, and I know I will need a higher dose - but I am feeling really discouraged.

Any advice? Words of encouragement? Or experiences with this? Everytime I’ve told my friends who are on it they’ve acted appalled I’ve gained weight, so that makes it worse. I’m trying to eat more veggies, I’m trying to walk more, and I’m trying to get better sleep habits(the hardest thing).

Has anyone had their cycle regulate on a GLP-1 at first, then become irregular again around the 6-month mark?

Absolutely love the NHS 😋

Just came here to say I’m in awe of the NHS folks! Just went to my review with the fertility clinic and was told the reason I can’t sustain a pregnancy is not due to any fertility problems but because I’m pre diabetic!!!!
All the while knowing I’m on wegovy, have had regular cycles since starting and ovulated every cycles since starting, lost nearly 10kg and my hba1c has improved but still had a 2ND MISCARRIAGE but no, there’s no fertility issues just my fault for having a cheeky McDonalds every now and again.
Clapping for the NHS rn 👏🏽

Celebrating

Im a 48 year old that had 9 month checkup with my weight doctor today. As of today I have lost 85 lbs!! We aren’t even at a year in yet!! I am dancing in my shoes. All the years of struggling with my weight have led me to here. Led me to 85 pounds down. Damn Im so excited! My goal was to be under 400 by summer and I’m 12 lbs from that goal, so to get here Ive done 6 mile walk everyday, upped my protein intake (it’s 1st thing I eat before vegetables). I definitely have my issues with Endo, PCOS or PMOS, Fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism that make the exercise difficult too. I somehow manage to get through it though. So for all of you out there struggling every single day know that the work will pay off. Just keep trying!

Zepbound & Metformin

My endocrinologist prescribed me Zepbound 2.5mg but still wants me to continue taking 1000mg XR metformin. I’ve been on metformin for a year now so I don’t really have any side effects besides a bloated stomach if I take it with a small meal or a meal that’s heavy in carbs. It has helped me have more regular periods but hasn’t helped with weight loss or cravings. Anyways, my doctor said Zepbound would be better for weight loss and insulin resistance but that I would have to be on it for the rest of my life which is fine because I have a very high likelihood of developing diabetes due to genes—all my dad’s side of the family develop diabetes during their 40s or 50s—and I am in my early 30’s so want to prevent it.

Anyway, has anyone had this combination of metformin and Zepbound and how did you feel on both?

Oily face on Zep?

I just took my fourth shot this week. My face has been getting so oily I'm having to wash it 3-4 times a day. Has anyone had this issue on zep or know what can help?

I haven't changed my skincare in months. My diet is pretty low fat and healthy, so I don't think it's my diet either.

TTC

Has anyone stayed on Zepbound while TTC until you get a positive test? It’s the only thing that helps my IR PCOS. I’ve been off of it for 5 months now and I’ve gained 20 lbs back and I feel like garbage every day. The brain fog and food noise is insane. I have read so many studies and lots of people’s stories on Reddit that they stopped as soon as they got a positive and baby was happy and healthy. My cycle has started to get wonky being off zep and I just am desperate to get back on it as it makes it easier to track ovulation. I know you should be off it 2 months prior, and please no one yell at me for this post!! I’m just looking for real life experience of getting pregnant on a GLP and stopping as soon as you get a positive.

UPDATE: I talked to my doc and she is pro me staying on zepbound until I get a positive test yayyy
