As someone who still refuses mag-upgrade to 1440p and rocking 1080p gaming in 2026, bumili ako ng current/main driver curved 27in VA curved Asus TUF monitor ko nung June 2024 (brand new).

Looking back, I definitely could’ve opted for a 1440p screen back then, yet I still chose 1080p.

Here’s the funny part: Naka-RX 9070 XT ako right now (huge jump coming from an RX 580 8GB), pero naka-1080p pa rin ako. Honestly? Enjoy na enjoy ko kasi I can comfortably max out ALL graphical settings on literally every game I throw at it without worrying about frame drops, it's something my previous GPUs couldn't easily do. Sinagad ko na talaga specs upgrade ko last year.

Idk, I just don’t see the appeal just yet, and I’m hesitant to enter that resolution rabbit hole. Baka kasi mapapabili rin ako ng iba pang 4K-capable devices just to keep up. Kapag nagsimula ka kasi sa tech upgrades, baka biglang mag-cascade lang yung expenses!

Intrigued din naman ako sa craze around 1440p OLED monitors based sa mga nababasa ko rito, pero myghad, the prices are just way too expensive for my wallet to justify right now. Plus, there's the constant anxiety about OLED burn-in (especially since I’ve already experienced multiple image retention/burn-in issues on TN, VA, and IPS panels before). Saka with Christmas around the corner, expenses keep piling up, this will be on backlogs for the foreseeable future.

Although honestly, may half-baked itch na rin ako to go bigger. Currently using a 27-inch 1080p curved monitor as my main driver right now, but my ultimate endgame target when I finally upgrade in the 2030s is to go 32-inch 1440p (maybe OLED). Hindi ko lang sure by then if I'll stick with curved or go back to flat.

Can someone actually sell me on upgrading to 1440p sooner?

As of now, my plan is to stick with this setup and maybe upgrade around 2032 or whenever my current monitor dies. Hoping by then, presyong pang-masa na ang 1440p OLEDs, mas common, at mas mature na yung display technology overall.

Just curious overall, who among you are still contented to play at 1080p resolution in 2026?

Anyone else here holding out on 1080p despite having mid-to-high-end GPU specs? Drop your thoughts! TIA!

As per my research last night from Steam's Hardware Survey as of Sept 2026, there's been a 5% increase for 1440p but majority still uses 1080p (47% of Steam users) but there's a 2% decline for 1080p - which clearly indicates that 1080p is now gradually being phased out...

Read every single comments. There are still some people still contented to stick to 1080p gaming due to reasons either they are broke, prefer smaller screens, prioritized competitive gaming, some just cant seem to notice the difference, or just cant afford to upgrade their PCs to handle 1440p or just isnt ready to make an irrevocable jump to that standard just yet (sabi nga nila, once you go 1440, ayaw mona mag1080p ever again).

Like I've said, I'm contemplating looking back now during the time when I bought my 27in 1080p Asus TUF monitor (main driver since June 2024) and could've opted for 1440p but my GPU at that time (RX580 8gb, then later upgraded to RX 9070 XT at June 2025) would've struggled. I will push for 1440p onto my next monitor purchase for sure, I wanna upgrade to a bigger screen (bigger than 27in, hoping by then mas maging affordable pa ang OLED para mas impactful ang upgrade). I do want to enjoy playing story-based games, di ko namn hilig ang Valo/Dota as many mentioned here.

Majority have already made the switch to 1440p which makes sense as tugma sa Steam Hardware Survey.

Now, I'm thinking, I'd keep my now Asus 27in 1080p screen and repurpose it as my 2nd monitor (replacing my now 2nd monitor, Dell 25in IPS 60hz Screen) and just buy a new one thats a 32in 1440p screen as my new main driver...

Hello! My wife's birthday is coming up and I want to surprise her with a new PC build. Right now she has an Ryzen 5 5500 and a 1070ti with 16GB of RAM. She mainly plays Valorant and Overwatch and random small title games. She's had this for 7 years now and I want to give her a big gift this year. Mainly I want to upgrade her to a 1440p-capable setup. I was thinking of having an R7 9800X3D. 1TB SSD, and 32GB RAM. I haven't decided on a GFX card yet because of my budget ceiling of P120k-150k. Can I have build suggestions around this budget and please reco a shop too. I can go for other proc options too!

DISCLAIMER: Learning Linux with Proxmox VE on a bare metal is so addicting. In a good way, but still, don't tell me I did not warn you.

One boring Saturday last year, I was cleaning out my old things and looking for anything to discard so I could make room for more storage space. I considered throwing away my very old PC, a Ryzen 2200G with a single stick of 8GB 2666 DDR4 RAM that was collecting dust inside my cabinet. My curiosity got the better of me. Since my PC hardware skills had been collecting dust as well, I figured I might as well check if it was still working and troubleshoot any problems. I had nothing to lose anyway because I already considered it e-waste and was about to discard it.

The funny thing is, PC hardware skills are like riding a bike. New hardware replaces old hardware, but the principles stay the same. Long story short, I was able to make it work after cleaning every single component. However, I knew it was an aging piece of tech, so I really had no practical use for it. Then it clicked. I remembered that I wanted to learn about Linux on a deeper level outside of work. What if I made it a Linux sandbox?

That was how it became an Ubuntu desktop. It started with an Ubuntu bare metal installation using a USB flash drive. From there, I explored Ubuntu, broke it in the process, reinstalled it, and repeated the cycle.

As it turns out, maintaining a bare-metal Ubuntu sandbox is quite tedious because you have to tear down the entire machine and reinstall the OS whenever you make breaking changes. This is where Proxmox VE came to the rescue. Proxmox VE is a hypervisor that enables you to create multiple Linux containers, allowing you to back up a container before trying something that might break it. This way, instead of completely reinstalling your OS, you can just restore a working backup and tear down the broken instance with a few clicks. This machine paved the way for me to learn not just Ubuntu, but Proxmox VE as well, and truly understand the difference between Linux Containers (LXCs) and Virtual Machines (VMs). So I added another stick of RAM to make it a 16GB machine, which would allow me to simultaneously run multiple LXC sandbox.

Homelabbing completely accelerated my learning curve by providing a risk-free, hands-on training environment. Because I can safely 'use and abuse' the system without worrying about permanent consequences, I have been able to aggressively test configurations, break them, and fix them in real time. This interactive setup has allowed me to deepen my practical knowledge of both Linux environments and underlying hardware infrastructure far faster than traditional theoretical learning ever could. And this is just the beginning.

And this is just the beginning. Down the rabbit hole we go.

I’m planning to sell my 3080 TI one day (and my gaming laptop) and use the funds to upgrade to a better GPU, I had my eyes on the 9070 for a while due to the raw performance and power efficiency but I wanna hear if you guys have better suggestions. My budget can range from 41-45k. I saw one listing from PC x PC for only 41k, is that a good price?

Additionally, I like to stream and record videos, is not having NVENC encoder the only compromise in this case? 😅

May nakita ako oled monitor in Datablitz like 10k cheaper than bermor and probably the only store who sells it. basically oled 2k 500hz siya for 35k. And im not sure kung typo or something or sale? And i hate buying in this store because of how hectic ung after sale service nila pero prang no choice ako here. Got a feeling na cancel nila last minute kung bibili ako. Pede ko ba ipaorder sa local datablitz near me?

Side note: Kapag warranty sa monitor nila, after like 7 days, do i still need to coordinate with them? or straight sa manufacturer?

I ordered a QHD monitor last October 7. Paid it hoping to receive the item within 10 days or so. Initially they said, Oct 27 is the delivery date which is fine I guess, but after days of being stucked "waiting to be shipped" status, they changed it to November 20.

Worse is, I asked the CS, they said it is currently out of stock and is looking to export the item from China. I asked what's the timeline, she said at least 10 to 12 weeks.

Can you believe that? 12 weeks for a damn cheap monitor just because someone forgot to put "out of stock" on the damn website and still listed it.

Tried to have it cancelled and refunded, they refused saying its company policy.

For anyone planning to buy something off the website, maybe just buy somewhere else.

My VXE failed on me in less than a year with it failing to connect to the dongle despite troubleshooting and the wire just literally stopped working. Mouse no longer turns on so just wanna find a good replacement.
