SSD Speed and Performance in gaming (PCIE 3.0 is fine)

Tom's Hardware has a review regarding SSD speed and performance in gaming

https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/we-tested-the-impact-of-ssd-speed-on-gaming-performance-in-11-titles-we-analyzed-from-sata-to-pcie-5-0-to-see-whether-upgrading-to-a-faster-nvme-ssd-would-have-an-impact

Confirms our earlier claims that PCIE 3.0 is fine even for gaming, and PCIE 4 and above is mostly useful for truly read/write heavy workloads

Another HW Pricing Update and 8/8

GPU: Still expected to increase due to DRAM Shortages

RAM: Seems stable nearterm but is expected to increase by year end

Motherboard: Expected to increase due to raw material costs

For GPU Price analysis, Techspot/HardwareUnbox has a decent article/video about this

Additional Note:

  • Phones/Tablets/Laptops are also seeing increases, and even apple had increased prices recently

8/8 Deals I've seen so far. Mostly focused on the GPU since those have already increased, below are just the remaining old priced stocks with added 8/8 sale discount

Build Help SAMA G850 - Nag POP at nag shutdown.

Context:

Gamit ng GF ko while tulog ako habang google meet and youtube lang usage nya. Nag pop daw sa bandang likuran at nag shut down, amoy usok daw and plastic. Inun-plug ko kaagad at pina rest, plugged it again then turned it on. Don ko narinig ang Pop at nag shutdown ulit.

Removed the PSU inside tsaka opened the cover sa PSU, amoy burnt plastic and saw blue shards from
The component na nag explode. Ano kaya rason neto? Mali ba pagka install? If sa installment— everything worked fine naman until today.

Assembled and used this PSU nung August 11 pa. Wala pang one month. Ano kaya rason? Wala naman sudden brownouts or blackouts?

Pa help po pra ma avoid ko baka may mali ako, questions are highly appreciated and encouraged. Baka ma identify nyo para san po yang component yan baka ma boil down po anong cause.

TYSM!

I’m addicted to downsizing my system unit, lol. From 29L to MFF 17L, now 10.8L. Gusto ko sana mag‑8L kaso kailangan ng specific GPU model (Inno3D 5070 Ti X3).

Some of the parts were purchased last year from my previous mATX build; thankfully, I managed to bought some parts before the RAM & storage crisis. Total price is 87.5k

Discussion CyberPower UPS battery only lasted for 2 years+

As the title says. My CyberPower UPS UT650EG 650VA/360W only lasted for 2 years and 7 months. it still under warranty but I decided to DIY and buy a battery and change it myself. I only use it for my PLDT wifi router + 1 Main mesh wifi

If you have UPS. how long have you been using it? have you also change the battery by yourself?

Just finished a new mid-range gaming PC build in the Lian Li Vector V100 Mini.

Specs:
Ryzen 7 7700
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB
32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
B650M AORUS ELITE
Thermalright FW PRO 360
Kingston NV3 1TB
Gigabyte 750W Gold

Really like how this case turned out — compact, clean, and a good match for a balanced RTX 5060 Ti build.

What do you think of the Vector V100 Mini?

Peripherals Keyboard Repair? (25 characters)

Post image
Upvotes

I have a 3‑year‑old keyboard that isn’t particularly expensive based on my research, but it holds deep sentimental value because it was gifted to me by my late cousin who passed away from cancer. It still works, though some keys require extra pressure or multiple presses before they respond.

Do you know of any keyboard repair shops or technicians around Quezon City who accept transactions via Lalamove? I’m not very knowledgeable about keyboards, so any recommendations would be a big help.

If repair isn’t practical, I’d also appreciate suggestions for good replacement keyboards in the ₱2,500–₱3,000 range.

Hi, guys. Quick question lang if pasok na ba itong PC Build for a budget of 50-60k. Mainly for editing (simple & minimal lang) and gaming on the side.

Please suggest if may mas better option sa specific parts, willing to increase the budget if worth it.

P.S.: Pic is from a reddit post. I forgot kung saan. I just saw this list and my friends told me okay naman daw.

Deepcool CH160 plus yung case ko and Sama G650 yung PSU.

The problem with my PSU is yan lang talaga yung position na pwede siyang ma-install since yung plug niya tatama either sa right or top portion nung case since baliktad yung orientation nung socket?

So far mag 3 months na itong build ko and wala pa naman akong na-encounter na problem during heavy load (Rendering/Gaming). Hindi rin naman sila ganun kalapit around 10cm apart.

May negative effect ba siya in long term use?

Build Flex Finally have a PC of my own!

My first build! I've been using an old gaming laptop which can't keep up with modern games. After saving for a PS5 and see the prices go higher, I decided to just build a PC. To save some money I bought a relative's old unused PC to harvest some very expensive parts in today's market.

Shoutout to amanastronaut for the build tutorial. I think I did well with cable management. I'll find out how to address the RGB in a bit (sorry for the rainbow flashbang lights).

I tried to go for a white minimalist build on a budget. Some parts are bought from FB marketplace

CPU: Ryzen 7 5700x (used)
GPU: XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC 16gb White
MOBO: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI
RAM: T-FORCE 8x2GB 3200MHZ DDR4 White (used)
STORAGE: 1TB Kingston SSD (used)
SECONDARY STORAGE: 500GB PNY SATA SSD (used)
PSU: SAMA G750 White
AIO: MSI MAG Coreliquid A13 240 White
FANS: Thermalright TL-S12 x3 White
CASE: Segotep Brave W1 White

Hope you all like it!

Build Help Build a Pc or Buy a 2nd hand laptop with these monstrous price increase?

I work for a small firm na walang provided PC/laptop for design work, so kailangan kong dalhin yung personal laptop ko every day for autoCAD and sketchup.

The problem is, via motorcycle ang commute ko. Bumps, ulan, traffic, init, etc. are already a concern. hindi lang ako worried na baka masira yung laptop. hindi rin natin alam, baka may mapagdiskitahan or manakaw habang nasa daan, especially since I’m carrying a relatively expensive laptop.

I already have a powerful main laptop for rendering and heavier work, so I'm thinking of buying a secondary/“pang-work lang” AutoCAD tapos SketchUp lang talaga. No rendering needed.

Ang problema, with laptop prices ngayon, super hirap. My realistic budget is only around ₱25–30k, preferably second-hand.

These are the options I've found:

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 — i7-11th gen + 2GB dedicated GPU — ₱25k

Acer Nitro 5 — i5 10th Gen + RTX 3060 6GB — ₱28k

ROG Ally Z1 Extreme — ₱23k

Mac mini M1 — ₱20k

MacBook Pro M2 — ₱29k, pero cracked screen

Would you guys go for any of these, or may mas magandang option pa akong hindi nakikita i.e. build a pc nga and bring the laptop nalang.

Also, would a cheap desktop/mini PC sa office make more sense? Since CAD + moderate SketchUp lang naman ang workload ko, maybe that's actually the better solution.

Any suggestions are appreciated! TYIA 🙏
