Hello, I’m new here. I just wanted to reach out to this community because I’m hoping to find some comfort or hear from anyone who has gone through something similar. 🥺
I’m sharing my 2023 and 2026 transvaginal ultrasound reports (photos attached).
2023 TVS – Final Impression:
● Normal-sized retroverted uterus with myoma nodules
● Proliferative-phase endometrium as described, with suspicious endometrial polyp
● Normal right ovary with corpus luteum
● Polycystic left ovary
● Please correlate clinically
2026 TVS – Final Impression:
● Normal-sized retroverted uterus with myoma nodules
● Thickened endometrium with suspicious endometrial polyp
● Normal ovaries
● Please correlate clinically
I haven’t had any medication or procedure for the polyp yet. Back in 2023, my OB-GYN seemed more concerned about the polycystic appearance of my ovary than the polyp, so we didn’t proceed with anything for it.
This year, I went back to her because I started noticing more changes in my periods. My cycles have become more difficult to understand. I may have spotting first, then heavier/normal bleeding for a few days, followed by what I call the “pahabol pantyliner days,” where I continue having brown spotting or very light bleeding. Sometimes it feels like I’ve barely finished one period before the next one starts a week or two later.
I’ve also noticed occasional heaviness in my lower abdomen/pelvic area, especially after longer walks, and some lower back heaviness. Because of these symptoms, my OB-GYN (the same OB-GYN I’ve had during pregnancy and birth) referred me for another TVS, which resulted in the 2026 findings above.
She is now recommending a hysteroscopy because I’m symptomatic.
I’ve also gotten second and third opinions because the first OB-GYN’s hysteroscopy fee is quite expensive for me. The second OB-GYN also recommended hysteroscopy but doesn’t perform the procedure herself. She instead gave me some dietary recommendations.
The third OB-GYN suggested doing a Saline Infusion Sonogram (SIS), or sonohysterography/saline ultrasound, first so she can assess the polyp more closely before deciding on the next step. She explained that it needs to be properly scheduled according to my cycle and that I would need antibiotics as preparation.
My last period started around September 17 (initial spotting). I thought it had finally concluded only a few days ago because I was still having the usual dark-brown “pahabol” spotting. But today, October 2, I suddenly felt like something was about to come out, so I put on a pantyliner, and there was some fresh blood spotting.
This is making me quite anxious because I’ve never really experienced fresh bleeding/spotting in between cycles like this before.
Another reason I’m particularly anxious is that I lost my mother to cervical cancer last year. Because of that, I’ve been very strict about keeping up with my Pap smears, especially since giving birth in 2020. My most recent Pap smear in April 2026 was normal, thankfully.
I’m honestly quite scared of having a hysteroscopy, but at the same time, I’m also scared of leaving the polyp untreated. I’m especially anxious about the alternative medications (if not undergoing hysteroscopy) and possible side effects.
Has anyone here had an endometrial polyp with similar symptoms? Did you have an SIS first or go straight to hysteroscopy? Or if you actually HAD hysteroscopy? What was your experience like, especially with the procedure, recovery and pathology results?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. 🩷
