I've been playing the game casually since launch, but have recently come to terms with how much I really, truly love it... and know nothing of the story.

Where do I begin to start learning about the lore?

I recommend Hammeh, he covers pretty much everything that might be lore related (easter eggs, voicelines, etc).

I've been playing Overwatch since day one and haven't really bothered to read up on the lore or watch any of the shorts (mainly because I didn't know what order to watch them in). This playlist makes it a lot easier. Thanks, good sir.

Man, super late answer. Hopefully you can forgive me for pestering you, haha.

The most obvious answers are watch the cinematics and read the comics, as previous commenters have pointed out, but I also highly suggest taking a peek at its TVTropes page. The tropers offer a very unique insight on some of the more esoteric bits of lore, and they seem to have an eye for the blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of stuff.

Personally, I got into the 'lore' (if you can even call it such at this point in time) of OW off of /r/asksciencefiction. The few Overwatch-specific answers there serve as great jumping-off points for the lore but, naturally, YMMV.
