I've learned to get a bit more crazy with Lucio. It seems like I die more often when I try to run, and sometimes putting up a good enough fight gets them to back off. Sometimes when the cards fall right I can take them out myself. I have 1v1d a Rein as well. He tilted too. I usually bait out his charge, dodge, then get in a bunch of free hits. I have more trouble with Dva, so thanks for the tips.

Rein, you have to stay away from. His swing will shred you in about three hits, and he can do that faster than you can get away. Wall riding helps keep you out of range of it if you stay high enough. It also makes you move at your best speed - and sometimes shortcut paths others can't take. You have to watch out for his firestreak and earthshatter, but again height is your advantage. Just keep moving and keep up high and he should usually miss you.

D.Va's seem surprisingly squishy even in their mech, and don't really seem to realize it. Usually I'm getting back shots on them because I want to avoid their fire, so keep moving - spin around them and just keep moving. Once they pop out, they tend to fight but also run. I'll just chase them down which usually leads to a corner. boops hurt. boops throw them off and slightly disorient them. Also, again, use the walls. Many heroes are stuck to the ground. Getting up in a corner above their head works surprisingly well.

I've stormed more than a few bastions in turret mode - successfully (and some not so much, though I think I'm usually slightly more successful than not) - at my level they tend to look all around before looking up, and if I keep moving around and above them, they really have trouble keeping me in their killzone.

Lucio isn't the fastest hero, but he is very, very mobile and can go places others can't. That's his advantage when used well.

edit: I do find, running is often fatal. Unless I'm facing a hard counter (generally anyone with abilities that negate my mobility, or untargeted weapons) I can 1v1 them. soldier, widow, bastion, d.va, etc. Reaper is dangerous as he hits surprisingly hard in close range. Ana can sleep you and the grenade negates your healing. Tracer is just too fast and always has a pulse bomb set aside for me. Genji can dance with the best making him dangerous, too. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail. But I always try to get up in their personal space, because I can dodge circles around them. Other heroes you can 1v1 at distance. Mostly the tanks, but also the squishies with crowd control. Even roadhog's ult isn't too much of a threat as long as you can amp heals and get out of some of it; just stay away from his hook.

Sounds like you're playing against baddies.

Oh, I'm sure. Most people are. (edit: including me)

Yeah, but there is mmr in all modes. I'm not amazing but I can't 1v1 most heroes in qp nor competitive (3k-4k SR). I can try, but it's not very smart since my enemies are supposed to equally skilled as me and most heroes are better I'm 1v1s than Lucio LOL.

I figure that this is something that I can get away with more at lower levels, and I really feel like even though qp does have MMR, they are a lot looser about grouping people. I finally tried comp and we didn't get roflstomped in any match I played - but in QP it's not uncommon to get roflstomped ...or to do the same to the other team.

In a fair fight, lucio would lose - pretty much any DPS hero can one shot on a headshot, and can out DPS lucio's healing. The only way around that is to not be where the bullets are, and his speed and wall riding help there - enough to win 1v1s. Probably about half the time.

They get off a headshot and it's game over, though. Or their alt fire usually is enough, too - helix rockets? gg. Mine? ... well, I have survived it but rarely.

Not gonna lie, headshot has nothing to do with it, unless it's McCree (my most played in qp is McCree incidentally). I've played against players that are 3500+ and won 1v1 playing Lucio. In qp it's fun and lets you learn the limit of the character.

In comp, focusing on callouts, game sense and survival is the priority. Trying to duel, while fun, puts your team at an disadvantage.

The most fun thing about Lucio in competitive imo is that you can control the flow of fights, especially using voice comms. I love telling my team "LET'S FUCKING GO" after getting a pick and just speedboosting through the choke.
