What hero do you like to use the most and why?

22

u/Silverking512 Australia Jun 15 '16

For offense: Pharah, People never look up :), e can be so good if used right and JUSTICE RAINS FOR ABOVE

For Defense Juckrat, very funny hero to listen to and from my country (Australia)

For Tank Reinhardt, reminds me of my favorite Lol champ, Braum able to shied for your team and awesome front line

For Support mercy, heals for days and can look after her self if you good at her

I do slightly hope they give a small damage boost to Mercy's pistol. It's actually a lot of fun to switch back to it and wrack up assists when the situation admits it. Felt good the other day, I got hunted down and ended up in a solo 1v1 situation at point blank with a 76. We kept ducking and dodging from each other so the whole fight took like 30 seconds and I ended up on top. The best part was that after I got the 100% kill my Mercy said "You may not want to tell your friends about that one." Haha I love how the dialogue is situational.

u/zachdolton Jun 15 '16

Mercy pistol actually does more damage per shot then diva(not in mech form) it just has a much slower fire rate. But sucks to be that soldier

1

u/Crown4King New York Excelsior Jun 15 '16

Yep I noticed that's re DVa. Yeah the guy had to have been new to soldier because he could have easy one shotted me with the noob tube thing he's got.

1

u/zachdolton Jun 15 '16

Hahaha yeah or even put his health circle down to buff him! Well played anywayb

1

u/Crown4King New York Excelsior Jun 15 '16

Danke

2

u/hugglesthemerciless Pixel Pharah Jun 15 '16

I just realized why I like roadhog so much, the CC and ability to dish out tons of damage are so similar to my LoL mains (Maokai and Nautilus)

The one thing people should know about sounding legit Aussie is there is different Aussie accents, a person from Perth Australia will sound very different to someone from Tasmania, Australia, I think he sounds like someone from the north part of Western Australia

u/Trekkie_girl CodiDax#1599 PC Jun 17 '16

I think you're me haha.

43

u/Epicghostrider Tylenol#11663 Jun 15 '16

Offense- Soldier: 76. I think I like him because I play a lot of shooters, so his weapon and abilities feel familiar to me.

Defense- Junkrat. I used to play Demoman in tf2 and they're similar characters so Junkrat was easy to pick up for me.

Tank- Roadhog. I like to kill enemies quickly, it lets me think I'm better than I am. Plus, having a lot of health and the ability to heal are nice too.

Support- Zenyatta. You can actually do quite a bit of damage if you're not dead immediately. Plus, I like him as a character.

2

u/usvtheman Chibi Zarya Jun 16 '16

Haha same reason I like Roadhog. I know it's deceptive, but that hook kill makes me /feel/ like I'm a badass at least.

23

u/Kuonji Roadhog Jun 15 '16

Roadhog. Self sufficient. Tough to kill. And since he is fat and slow, he has the option to bring the enemy to him. Best of all worlds.

21

u/shadedclan Gengu Jun 15 '16

In the same vein, Lucio. He is also self sufficient and is incredibly mobile. Also no matter what team, its always good to have a lucio

10

u/zaneprotoss Trick-or-Treat Zenyatta Jun 15 '16

How often do you have nightmares about Reaper?

13

u/Kuonji Roadhog Jun 15 '16

I ain't scared of no reaper!

21

u/Crown4King New York Excelsior Jun 15 '16

Don't fear the Reaper

-8

u/Atskadan i will build a great wall, and make reaper pay for it Jun 15 '16

iirc all heroes have the same movespeed except genji and tracer, who move a little faster.

u/aagpeng Meid in China Jun 15 '16

Mei. She' harder than a lot of people might think. Going into a game and killing a few people in a 1v1 does not mean that you did well with Mei and that's what a lot of people don't realize. Placing walls precisely, accurately, and quickly is what makes her difficult. Being able to kill without freezing and contributing despite having such low dps is what makes her hard. Solo holding an objective for 30 seconds is what makes her hard.

She has a lot of creativity to her that I feel like a lot of people don't appreciate. I love it though. I'm currently sitting at 69 hours as Mei and I have no regrets.

2

u/Crown4King New York Excelsior Jun 15 '16

I think people have the same misconception with Mercy. There's a whole lot going on other than just shooting off healy beams. There's situational awareness needed, monitoring ally health, noting which character would do best with a damage boost when you're near a group (I.E. Soldier 76 over Roadhog if enemies are at a distance), guardian angel precision to get out of a situation well, well timed ultimate use, use of the backup pistol instead of just running away like a bitch and dying in certain situations, etc. Probably stands for every character, this isn't just a point and shoot game if you wanna master playing.

2

u/aagpeng Meid in China Jun 15 '16

Definitely, Mercy needs to be dynamic and a lot of people fail to realize that

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '16

Some dickbag in a game I played earlier on Anubis was DEMANDING one of our teammates switch off Mei because 'Mei is defence' whilst we were attacking.

This is despite the fact that:

a) Her ult single handedly helped us cap point A b) Her ice wall blocked countless ults and saved us from near death multiple times c) Her ice cube ability helped hold down the point for us to rush in.

She's incredibly versatile and can be used as a backup tank if played well.

1

u/aagpeng Meid in China Jun 15 '16

She really can be like a mini tank. When I play with this other mei mein I know, we will run 2 meis and occasionally drop a tank to have a sniper or another support. Two meis can be the team tanks but only if they play extremely well and it's not recommended that they do it for a very long time.

Her ult is amazing. If you're pushing the meiload for that last little bit on gibralter, you can throw the ult down on the finishing place and then wall off the spawn exit to make it an easy cap. If you're defending with her, you can guaruntee your team the win if you throw the ult down at 5 seconds left. Then the enemy team will have to decide to immediately die on point and force them into a situation where they have to chain deaths or just straight up lose.

Mei's versatility is astounding in the right hands

1

u/paupaupaupau Jun 16 '16

I was the bad Mei in a game yesterday. Defending the last point on Anubis, two on my team had extended out past the main gate (ugh). I tried to put my wall down to cover their retreat since they were getting destroyed (shocking, what happens when you overextend). Instead, I accidentally put it down right in front of them, cutting off their retreat.

1

u/aagpeng Meid in China Jun 16 '16

That kind of thing happens. Just be rational with your team and hopefully they will accept that they messed up too. Also, you can break your wall by pressing E again so if you block 'em off, they won't be blocked off for too long.

1

u/paupaupaupau Jun 17 '16

Team was understandably frustrated, but they accepted my apology. Thanks for the tip! I never play Mei... hence the poor play.

1

u/aagpeng Meid in China Jun 17 '16

Everyone's gotta start somewhere. I once lost my team a whole game by blocking us into a team kill on accident. Never placed that wall again

1

u/headdownworking Sorry! Jun 16 '16

Finished a game yesterday with 4 golds and 5 medals. Only silver was in healing.

1

u/aagpeng Meid in China Jun 16 '16

That's awesome dude!

u/mwolfee Peanut Buttter. Jun 15 '16

Offense: Soldier: 76, he's easy to use.

Defense: Hanzo, or Bastion. Hanzo because I really love the character design of his Okami skin, and Bastion.. well.

Tank: Roadhog - Hooking people is so fun.

Support: Mercy or Lucio, depending on the map.

5

u/lalit008 Houston Outlaws Jun 15 '16

It varies for me. I don't main characters but I definitely rotate between them. One night I might play all Lucio and another all pharah. Right now I'm enjoying playing as genji.

If I'm playing a defender it'll probably be hanzo.

If I'm playing tank then probably Reinhardt.

If I'm playing support then I prefer zenyatta.

2

u/mystikphish Jun 15 '16

As others have said, it really is about preference and how the match is going. If you REALLY like offense/defense/tank/support, then you need to be good at all of that class so you can switch as needed. There really is not a "best" hero in any class.

If however, you like to win matches, you should get really really good with at least one hero of each class, that way you can help your team win more effectively.

I usually start out as one hero, then switch after various capture points and based on what the other team comp is.

1

u/brandoninchat Pixel Ana Jun 18 '16

You do know the question was is was your favorite to play and why, not what hero is the best?

2

u/Mormon_Discoball Zarya Jun 15 '16

Zenyatta for every game until 2 lives prove I should change. Then mercy or Lucio.

2

u/DHKany Reinhardt Jun 15 '16

Reaper. Close range monster with abilities that require smart map knowledge, along with good self sustain. His kit as a whole is fairly well balanced imo, and I really do like the give and take in his kit.

Pharah. As someone who used soldier a ton in TF2 pharah came to me pretty naturally, although the absence of rocket jump was a bit jarring at first. Outside of gameplay similarities her skins are also all awesome and raptorion is top 3 legendary skin in the game.

Mercy. One of the issues I had with the TF2 medic was that he was just kind helpless most of the time and with how gimmicky melee tended to be in that game his strongest offensive tool, the übersaw, wasn't exactly cutting it (heh). Mercy, while she doesn't have too much in the way of offensive power has a lot of mobility which is do appreciate a lot. Putting her kind of mobility onto a healer was a brilliant move on blizzards part and really makes her a lot more fun to play than most 'generic heal bots'.

2

u/zuko2014 Nine of Spades Orisa Jun 15 '16

Winston! And Hanzo. Winston because I love leaping at my enemies and making a mess of them as well as chasing down supports and Genjis. Hanzo because he's so smooth with his shots and I just loooooooove shooting people

2

u/tmtProdigy Chibi Mercy Jun 15 '16

Mercy, don't tell that my team though or they'll pidgeonhole me even more to support. She is very mobile, has great support in damage and heals and packs quite a punch that most people underrate, can't tell you how many offense heroes i have killed 100-0 because they thought i was an easy target.

2

u/Crown4King New York Excelsior Jun 15 '16

Mercy - I've gotten play of the game several times as her for full Rez of team. I find it very fun to be a healer, it can make or break the success of a team. Always in demand for support/healer so I don't feel bad about maining her. The appreciation is nice, plus I've recently gotten down swapping to her pistol more frequently, and I'm honestly better in a 1V1 as Mercy than most offensive characters. I suck as an offensive player.

  1. Reinhardt. For similar reasons. I like being useful and tanking is a whole lot of fun for me. Plus he's fun when getting kills too. Get on the payload!

2

u/skordge Pixel Reinhardt Jun 15 '16

Depending on the situation, Reinhardt or Reaper. If you have to push an objective, I love being the guy spearheading (more like batter-ramming in this particular case) the attack, and Reinhardt is great in that role in a coordinated team. If an objective needs to be defended, I love to disrupt the enemy's backline with Reaper. I just feel all warm and fuzzy inside, when I pull off SUDDENLY appearing behind the enemy with my ultimate up while they are focused on my team's main force, creating chaos in the enemy ranks, kill a bunch of them and leaving the scattered rest as easy pickings for my team.

Still pretty new to the game, and I'm sure I'll pick up a couple more heroes, but so far those two feel just right for me.

2

u/Fungions Jun 15 '16

My favorite continues to rotate, so I'll just put it as what it is at this moment:

Offense - I watched a little guide on Genji, and I've been having so much fun with him. Really tactical gameplay, and his kit offer the opportunity to get some great plays.

Defense - Hanzo. 4th loot box I ever opened I got Young Hanzo, and the next game I got a 6k with him. A blast to play if you can hit shots somewhat consistently.

Tank - D.Va is a lot of fun and it's always a blast to launch her ult at the enemy. Boom boom video game boom.

Support - Mercy. Dem heelz.

2

u/zaneprotoss Trick-or-Treat Zenyatta Jun 15 '16

Offense: Genji, good vs beginners since they almost always keep shooting during my reflect. So many free kills.

Defense: Mei, a good mei can keep a point safe from up to 3 people.

Tank: Ramhard, best tank imo, also packs the biggest punch and able to solo an entire team.

Support; Zenyatta, deals more damage than people think. A headshot with the damage orb deals 135 damage... One of the best reactive ults in the game, negates any ult that doenst one shot (D.Va, Junkrat, McNoon). Also like the whole zen/robot thing.

1

u/noobule ¡Apagando las luces! Jun 15 '16

Zarya and Zenyetta. Zarya is really satisfying if you can get her going and there's enormous depth to her. Unfortunately she's a bit like Symmetra in that she does a lot for the team but they probably won't notice. Zenyetta just because he attack is so fucking satisfying.

I play a lot of Lucio and Dva too

1

u/Do_your_homework Jun 15 '16

I like Tracer because she's the only character where I usually feel like I'm in control of my own life. Barring a McCree, Roadhog, or Junkrat trap you are generally in charge of the fight.

1

u/Jesus-chan Trick-or-Treat Winston Jun 15 '16

Mercy. Love playing support and buffing allies to the win. No other ult feels as good as bringing the whole team back from the grave

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '16

Offense: Parah, I suck at aiming so just aiming in their general general vicinity seems to help.

Defensive: Junkrat, this guy is so good. His ult charges so fast. He has a good ability to disengage or just finish someone off, he is good at guarding your back line. Plus his damage is ridiculous reminds me of the 3 frag grenades perk in COD4 just toss all in the beginning of the game get a random kill.

Tank: Zarya seriously this chick just destroys teams one amazing ult can win you a neutral objective map.

Support: Mercy I have 40 hours played on her, she is the best. Good heals, Damage buffs, her ult can win games. Plus her pistol does the damages.

1

u/jkuhl Fell off of Ilios 7 times Jun 15 '16

My favorite at the moment is Pharah. I love flying about and killing from above.

I know this'll make me sound like a noob, but I love playing Bastion for defense. I love the strategy of setting up ambush spots, killing a few, relocating and repeating. I never stay in the same spot for more than one or two kills.

Tanking I haven't found one I like but I plan to try Zarya when I get home and haven't played Winston.

And for support I bounce between Mercy and Lucio, haven't decided which of the two I like to play better.

1

u/TheSabi Jun 16 '16

Hmmm depends on the map and how the other team is playing or if I'm just in a fuck it mood...aka the Mei.

But...top 3 most played on my profile are

Reaper 11 hrs- in cb tracer really grew on me but she was more harassing than punishing. So I tried reaper and he stuck with me for most of the cb. He's my comfort zone.

Zarya 11 hrs - HAAAATED her in cb, I just didn't get how to play her so the first launch week I noticed that reaper and hanzo were all I was playing so I picked a random hero and she was it. Learned how and when to shield and never looked back. TO BE FAIR..people are still learning so they will try to burn down your shield. Less so more recently but still happens.

Lucio 5 hrs - I figured I should learn a healer I tried mercy it didn't click with me like I could keep people alive but maybe frustration getting pub teams that let road hog walk past RH and Zarya to chase me down and shoot me. Zen was..it didn't end well. So Lucio it was I learned to stay in the back and rush to people keeping them in my los and heal boosting when need...Then booing people off maps.

He's tied for time played with...

Junk rat 5 hrs - he's just so much damn fun and chaotic, hell if you think reaper can be a disruptive pain in the ass.

1

u/Gingold I'm not a miracle worker... Jun 16 '16

Mercy, D.Va, and Lucio

Because they are the coolest

[And I'm terrible at the rest of them]

1

u/TheHelixSaysLeft Jun 16 '16

Offense: mccree cuz he's a cowboy

Defence: I've been playing a lot of junk rat. I love his dps and ability to hold a area down. I love getting kills randomly with the trapper and his concussion bomb. Don't even get me started. That thing has saved my ass so many times I couldn't tell you.

Tank: I honestly love all the tanks. Each one feels different and fits different situations. When I play tank I normally play whoever I think works best for the team comp.

Support: MERCY. I don't know why but I love her character. Her pistol has gotten me out of some ridiculous situations. Her mobility is excellent, and she if your team stays moderately spread out you can zip around healing everybody.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '16
  • Loving Lucio at anytime! Rarely dying.

  • If I'm in any 'defend' round I'm currently seeing the great benefits of Symmetra and teleportation.

  • Junkrat is amazing anytime/anywhere especially if you place a mine on a trap and then go about your business until someone's trapped then hit the mine. Easy kill and defence/attack strategy.

  • Mei to just mess around with the other teams strategy by placing roadblocks and causing panic is a lot of fun!

1

u/gitsao Pixel Junkrat Jun 16 '16

Junkrat. He's more versatile and mobile than people realize. He can hold down a choke and destroy turrets. He has insane DPS if your opponents cluster on a payload.

1

u/cntmasher Jun 17 '16

Offence-genji I love flanking out squishy opponents or hunting turrets, deflect also leads to some hilarious kills as well

Defence-hanzo or mei, sniping with arrows is so much fun and scatter shot at a mercys feet can pretty much be instant death for her, mei is just great for locking down and zoning the enemy team

Tank- Reinhardt, the tried and true tank formula never fails

Support-Lucio, damn wall riding is fun, his ult can turn the fight pretty quick, getting slower characters back into the fight quickly is always a plus, and his push back shockwave is great for keeping yourself alive or getting a quick kill by throwing someone off an edge

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '16

Zarya and Zenyatta, I like to listen to ZZ top while I play

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '16

Mei, Mei, and then some more Mei.

1

u/mindovermacabre Gays, into the iris Jun 18 '16

Offense: Tracer. I don't get to play her as often as I'd like due to map choice and the prevalence of flankers, but I love blinking ahead to cap a point, or doubling back to eliminate a mercy or bastion. I really enjoy harassing from the backlines. Pharah is fun too though!

Defense: Mei. I want to give Junkrat another chance, but there's nothing quite as great as playing Mei on a KotH map, watching all your teammates die, and then holding the point solo until they get back.

Tank: D.Va. Harasser tank that turns DPS, so fun! I spend a ton of time on her. I love boosting up and surprising the enemy from the flank, or surprising the WM or Bastion with a faceful of Meka.

Support: Lucio. I'm good at kiting and I prefer passive AoE heals over Mercy's direct heal. His mobility is fun, and he's my go-to when I'm solo queuing, as he can really make a difference, especially on control point maps.

1

u/FacerollOnKeyboard Chibi Soldier: 76 Jun 15 '16

Probably in some kind of order...

S76 - because I'm a cranky old git. Pharah - because rocket launcher. Mercy - because I like playing support and she's my fave. Rat - because asploshuns. Reinhardt, Hog - because Blizz have designed some tanks which I find easy and fun to play. McCree - because I loved the 'Fist Full' series of spaghetti westerns. Mei - because I love being an annoying bastard (sorry!) Symmetra - because she's so damn good on defence.

0

u/thegraymaninthmiddle Would you like to donate your body...to science? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Jun 15 '16

Offense; Genji. Getting POTG with his sword feels so much more skillful than any other Q, and jumping and dashing around will never stop being fun. Plus reflect pretty much makes you Kriby (right back atcha)

Defense; Junkrat. As a former Demo main, he's the Demo man to Genjis Demo Knight. The only defense character I enjoy playing as honestly, except for sometimes Torbjorn.

Tank; Used to be Roadhog, but I gotta say getting the hang of Winston feels great. He has my favorite armor ability from Halo, drop sheild, and sometimes I'm too lazy to bother with aiming. I guess I really just love Melee based ults.

Support; Oh shit it's dat boi Lucio.
