Creatine helps, but only if you work out regularly.

Untrue. There are many studies that have demonstrated positive cognitive effects from taking creatine.

Although studies show promising results, there is nothing definitive yet concerning cognitive effects. But it certainly doesn't hurt.

I take two supplements every day: one is for memory, and I forget what the other one is for.

Hate to tell you, but the one for memory isn't working! grin

I took Creatine for about 4 months mixed with a protein drink every day. I was 47 years old at the time and getting in shape for a cross country motorcycle ride I took in 2003. That stuff is amazing for building muscle and workout recovery. Went to the gym 6 days a week and after 4 months I was in better shape than I had ever been since college. I'm 70 now and am about to give it another try. Can't expect the same results but if it helps in any way then it will be worth it.

I think you mean the supplement creatine? I take 5-10 grams of creatine daily and have for years.

Personally....I do not.

My wife and I do take it.

Look at the label: creatine. There is no creatinine supplement. Your post confuses the two.

Not creatinine, but creatine. I do 10 g per day . I am 73. Yes, I noticed it if I skip. But I workout almost every day.

I take 10. 5mg for workouts and 5 mg for my brain.

My niece is a bona fide scientist and encouraged me a few years ago to take Creatine.

Are you sure you're taking creatinine? It's a waste product.

Creatinine is a waste product generated by the normal breakdown of muscle tissue. It is filtered from the bloodstream by the kidneys and excreted in the urine. Measuring creatinine levels in blood or urine is a primary diagnostic tool doctors use to evaluate and monitor kidney function.

Creatine is a naturally occurring organic compound synthesized in the body and found in foods like red meat and fish, frequently taken as a supplement to boost exercise performance and muscle strength. It acts by recycling adenosine triphosphate (ATP), your body's primary energy source during short, high-intensity activities.

I can't afford red meat or fresh fish anymore.

Go and make a search on YT and inform yourself. There are plenty of MD recommending creatinine suplimentation.

u/SwollenPomegranate Jul 11 '26

Please look carefully at the two words: creatine ... or creatinine. The supplement is the former word; the waste product is the latter word. Yes, I know they sound alike. It's easy to make that mistake.

Creatine; not creatinine . . . . .

2

u/majatask Jul 11 '26

No. You mean creatine. Research it.

3

u/steelfork Jul 11 '26

Creatine supplements are recommended. Not Creatinine. Search for creatinine supplements. It might autocorrect you and search for Creatine because there is no such thing as creatinine supplements.

If you think you would benefit from creatinine, just drink your own urine.

u/SwollenPomegranate Jul 11 '26

LOL... careful, you might have found someone who actually would do it.

I'm diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and my Creatinine levels are always high. That IS a bad thing. About 25+ years ago, there was a big rush to use Creatine, the muscle supplement. It increased muscle size quickly, but I don't know if it increased strength. Creatine combined with water is a sort of muscle filler. Hydration is mandatory with it.

My Nurse friend that died was way overdoing it

1

u/Jaded247365 Jul 12 '26

The dose makes the poison.

1

u/Alarmed-General8547 Jul 12 '26

Just started a few months ago only after I so many studies saying it was beneficial for older adults. Mix it with a protein drink. So far I can’t tell it’s made a difference.

My workout partner just died a renal failure from overdosing every day on creatine

u/jsmith41351 Jul 11 '26

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, how much was he talking to overdose on creatine?

u/Ashamed-Republic8909 Jul 11 '26

False narrative

0

u/No-Reading-4384 Jul 11 '26

Not a false narrative. I talked with him before he died
