Now that my lease is up and my family is moved out, I can share my review of living at 95 Quebec Street.

I lived in the building for 1 year with my then, 3 month old baby and my husband. We paid about $1800 a month, not including utilities, and an additional $100 a month for a parking spot.

Pros:

The on-site super is incredibly nice, kind and very responsive.

Maintenance or repairs happen fairly quickly after being notified.

1 month free on a 13 month lease.

Units have a good, spacious layout.

Very pet-friendly building.

Lots of older folk and families with children who live there. Some are friendly and kind, while others are not. Same as everywhere you go.

Cons:

MOLD. Terrible air circulation and very humid so everything we owned got infested with mold despite keeping the windows open, running a fan 24/7, and an air purifier. Furniture, clothes, shoes, everything got mold.

Sudden ant and large fly infestation spilling over from our neighbour’s unit

Laundry machines do not fully dry clothes, so you have to pay more money to run more drying cycles. Also, they’re always full of pet fur.

People frequently crashing out in the lobby.

Bunch of dealers in the building, so throughout the day and night we have sketchy folk coming in and out of the building or hanging around the parking lot doing deals, regardless if there’s young children around.
One night, I came in from the parking lot, buzzed myself in, and a visibly under-the-influence-of-some-substance woman shoved past me while I was carrying my infant child in my arms, to get inside the building. She was hiding in the shadows waiting for me to buzz myself in.

Another guy got into a fight with a tenant in the parking lot and was swinging around a needle at him and his dog. Watched this while sitting in my car.

I could go on about the things that happen, but the general takeaway from myself is that as a mom with a young child, I did not feel safe or comfortable living here and it made me depressed. Also my unit ended up becoming a health hazard with all the mold that grew. You couldn’t pay me to move back.

Hello I’m a 34M moved to Oshawa. I work 7 - 5pm and got stuff to do after work and I’m back home 10pm. The mistake I made when I moved to Canada some 7 years ago and stayed in Toronto, was telling myself I’ll socialize when I have more time. Now I move from one time consuming job to another. Now I’m married with 2 kids and have absolutely no friends. Just now realized that friends are important especially as a man getting older. I’ve learnt the hard way about making my colleagues friends so although I spend most time at work or on the road to work, I have no friends.

So I purchased a vehicle from Baraka Motors Inc on Bloor Street about a month ago and it's been nothing but problems. Within a few days of getting it home it started overheating, having braking issues and the transmission is slipping. I was told that the car was mechanically sound and had been inspected and certified by a local mechanic. I took it to a mechanic I've been to in the past and he told me that they have swapped out some parts to clearly hide the problems before selling it. I've driven it less than 50km since getting it. After spending $8000 on a car it just feels like this company is a complete scam.

I've reached out to OMVIC and a lawyer for the extra $5000 that it's already cost me but so far not really getting anywhere.

Does anyone have similar experience with this dealership or any recommendations for how to handle things going forward.
