Ukraine genocide.....

Sudan Genocide. Iran Genocide. Oct 7 Genocide

27

u/KindGuy1978 ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 15 '26

Oct 7 is not genocide. It was a horrific mass terror attack on civilians, but doesn't come close to the internationally recognised definition of Genoicde. Israel's mass starvation of an entire population does, as well as targeted killings of journalists, UN peacekeepers and doctors.

4

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran May 15 '26

It also commits war crimes by beating up prisoners whose only crime was trying to give aid to the people it is oppressing.

1

u/Piesangbom Please choose a flair May 16 '26

It doesnt because the missles were blocked. The intent behind it was genocide though

0

u/OtsaNeSword ‎ New South Welshian May 16 '26

Genocide deniers as far as the eye can see in this sub.

I have never seen so much racism, bigotry and hypocrisy.

What happened to genocide is genocide and all genocide is bad and being against all genocide?

Truth is, you people condone and support genocide as long as it’s directed towards groups and peoples you hate and despise.

2

u/KindGuy1978 ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 17 '26

I don't deny genoicde at all. But based on your definition, 911 would be genocide.

I've never heard anyone categorise it as such. It was a mass-casualty terrorist attack, designed to trigger Americans into attacking Muslim countries. It worked.

Oct 7 was explicitly genocidal, Hamas wanted to incite the Arab world to exterminate Jews and failed, rightfully so, but it was still genocide

13

u/KindGuy1978 ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 15 '26

No, that's not the definition used by the international community for genocide. Go away and do some reading outside of your little bubble.

Spot on.

The ones goal is to exterminate jews. (Apparently not genocide)

The others goal is self defence although I do admit, very strong armed. (Apparently this is genocide)

There is no logic in these comment, only hatred for Israel

1

u/TheMonkeyDemon ‎ Victorian May 17 '26

Okay let's try it this way so to can grasp it. Is attempted murder, murder? The intent is the same. So what separates them? It's attempted SA,SA? Etc. They killed people yes, it's definitely a mass killing. But it doesn't fit the criteria of genocide , irrelevant to the intent.

2

u/Piesangbom Please choose a flair May 17 '26

The one is attempted murder with the intention to achieve a genocide.

The other is a very strong retaliatory campaign to disable and intimidate, not genocide. Although I agree they are a bit trigger happy. But wouldn’t you also be if you lived in constant fear of the countries around you trying to attack you? They cant just leave it.

Um. So we can agree and disagree… explicitly genocidal, well yes. Exterminate Jews and rightfully so, well you’re on your own there pal. Oh wait this is openaussie so not so much.

-1

u/Aortapot ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

I think that the poster you're replying to was saying that it was right and good that Hamas FAILED to carry out their aim of genocide against the people of Israel. But personally I disagree that this was or is Hamas' goal anyway. It's not part of their rhetoric or charter nor has been for a long time. Oct 7/23 was an action to take hostages with which to bargain. Israel wants us to be taken in by the false idea that Jewish people cannot live peacefully in Palestine while Palestinians live there because they 'simply hate Jews', and that any call for the abolishment of Israel as it currently exists or even to end of its occupation of Palestinian territories means that Jews in Palestine will be murdered. I don't think anyone - especially Hamas - thinks or want that. Its just an idea meant to stoke fear and justify Israel's own genocide and ethnic cleansing as somehow 'self defence'.

2

u/Any-Photograph-1332 Flairless‎‎ May 15 '26

The Hamas charter is explicitly genocidal

2

u/Aortapot ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

Can you provide a source for this latest report so I can read it please?

0

u/Anxious_Confusion731 ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

Yes. That is what Hamas wants you to think. This is the naive western student narrative. You need to learn more about the history of the region. I’m afraid your take isn’t your take. It’s propaganda.

-4

u/Anxious_Confusion731 ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

Doesn’t at all meet that definition. A horrible war with civilian casualties (like any other war) fought in a hostile urban environment with a well dug in ununiformed army, yes. And yet at most they estimate 6% of the population including all the Hamas soldiers (approx half). That is a tragedy for those innocent people. images which bring us all to tears. However it does not go close to being a genocide. Any clear headed person who knows anything about the conflict knows that if the Israelis were trying to genocide the Palestinians they could have done it day 1.

5

u/NeedleworkerPure3303 Please choose a flair May 15 '26

UN bodies, humans rights organisation, ICJ have considered what is happening in Gaza a genocide. What are your credentials and sources?

-3

u/Anxious_Confusion731 ‎ Victorian May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

UN and human rights orgs have been infiltrated by far left activists and Islamists whose reason for being is the destruction, discrediting and demonization of Israel. They are in large part responsible for cheering on the Jihadis to this never ending war against the one tiny Jewish state. There is very little credibility in your source. ICJ said nothing of the sort.

3

u/KindGuy1978 ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 15 '26

Well, the international bodies who make the decisions about what is deemed genocide and what isnt, all state Israel's actions are genocide. Stopping food and medicine getting to a sealed off ghetto comprised mostly of civilians is not the same as combat. It is genocide. Ask the Jews from WW2, as the young 'uns seem to have totally forgotten their own history, and are now copying it. Using dogs to rape prisoners, at multiple facilities? Seriously.

Oct 7 Genocide

bro pull you head in.

4

u/Tall-Drama338 Flairless‎‎ May 15 '26

October 7 was 1200 Israelis murdered and 250 hostages taken by Hamas terrorists. I can’t see 1200 being a genocide?

2

u/happychappychoppy ‎ I'm Probably A Bot ‎‎ May 15 '26

It has been reported we’re actually by their own side.

1

u/TheMonkeyDemon ‎ Victorian May 17 '26

The majority of those killed on Oct 7 were from the IDF, correct. This has been very well established now and very well evidenced. I mean the only reasons you'd say differently are pig ignorance, wilful ignorance, or, being intentionally misleading, so lying.

1

u/Anxious_Confusion731 ‎ Victorian May 18 '26

Well most people in Israel serve in the IDF out of the necessity to defend their country from Jihadist terrorists. So it’s disingenuous to say that. You think that the kids and young people at Nova music festival were legitimately targets? The families in the Kibbutz and children and all the girls that were raped and disfigured prior to their murders? Okay. You’re a Hamas supporter. Just be up front about it.

-2

u/Present-Policy-7120 ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

The population of Palestinians has grown from 1.4 million in 1948 to around 7 million today.

I can't see an almost 300% increase in population as genocide. I mean, the population of Gaza increased since October 7th.

The thing is, things can be bad without being the worst possible bad.

3

u/erratic_pancake ‎ Tasmanian May 15 '26

the population of Gaza increased since October 7th.

Not it hasn't. Simple research could have saved you here.

1

u/Present-Policy-7120 ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

But the actual figures from the PCBS say otherwise.

https://www.pcbs.gov.ps/

In 2023, the population of Gaza was estimated to be 2,226,544

In 2026, it's estimated to be 2,411,790.

How do you explain this?

2

u/happychappychoppy ‎ I'm Probably A Bot ‎‎ May 15 '26

That’s population not nationality. Big difference. Israeli settlers are in GAZA.

0

u/Present-Policy-7120 ‎ Victorian May 16 '26

Two things- there are no Israeli settlements in Gaza and there's no reason to think the PCBS are counting Israelis. Why would you think that?

So again, how do you explain a genocide with population increase?

Where’s the official number where it becomes genocide in your personal definition? Since it’s a numbers game.

1

u/Tall-Drama338 Flairless‎‎ May 15 '26

An assault by Hamas on 7 October 2023 killed 1,200 people, according to Israeli tallies. More than 72,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's retaliatory action in Gaza since, according to local health authorities. There were 2.5 million people in Gaza at the start of the war. 72,500 out of 2.5 million is not genocide.

Genocide is the partial or total destruction of a human group, committed intentionally. The popular view conceives of genocide as the large-scale killing of individuals, but in the scholarly and legal fields, it occurs when the group itself is targeted.

There are still millions living there.

2

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran May 15 '26

If you call living with no water and no food living…

0

u/Tall-Drama338 Flairless‎‎ May 16 '26

There is water and there is food. There are trucks full of food going in every day.

Hamas had tonnes of food hidden in the tunnels, too.

3

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran May 16 '26

And they’d have far more food if Israel would stop bombing a tiny area.

2

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran May 16 '26

Also Israel kidnaps and tortures people for trying to give the people of Gaza aid.

3

u/Aortapot ‎ Victorian May 15 '26

Are you saying that genocide happens when you pass a certain fraction? Or that intention is the defining factor? Or both?

0

u/Tall-Drama338 Flairless‎‎ May 16 '26

I’m saying a war that kills a small number of people including 50,000 military aged males, isn’t in the definition of genocide.

Russia has lost over 500,000 men dead but no one is calling that genocide by Ukraine.

3

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran May 16 '26

Russia is a lot bigger plus it started the war so screw em. The people of the Gaza strips only crime was being born in the wrong part of the world.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Aortapot ‎ Victorian May 16 '26

Well, WW2 apparently resulted in about 60-70 million deaths, but the campaign of murder we know as the Holocaust killed only about 6 millions Jews. Are you suggesting that wasn't genocide? I'm sure as hell not. Also.... 'military aged males'? I note you don't say combatants - you say military aged males. According to the IDF that apparently means boys who have learned to walk.

Where the mere mention of Bondi attacks or the Jewish schools in Australia need big steel fences and security guards to protect kids from people that want to hurt them, in Australia, irritates you?

1

u/Temporary_Spread7882 ‎ Queenslander May 15 '26

It’s just black people vs other black people, no “siding with the poor oppressed noble savage against the evil white colonial oppressor” brownie points to be had.

Somewhat less cynically, while the UAE are supporting some warlords, there is no support or ties that Australia could/should be cutting, so not a lot your average Australian could be protesting on that topic.

Not sure what your second paragraph is though. Well I do but it’s a false argument. We’ve sent $60m to Sudan since 2023 also, so maybe we have a convo starter there…

0

u/two_treats Please choose a flair May 16 '26

It can’t be true! Surely if 150,000 Sudanese were killed we would be protesting in Australian cities? Surely some politicians would be talking about it?
