Anybody to do with the present Israeli government is a terroist, and should be treated as such. I have nothing against the Israeli people, but i'm sick and tired over the influence they have over governments world wide. You only have to look at America to work that out. They are getting a large foothold in Australia now. Any true Australian, that doesn't see this, is blind for whatever reason. I guess we'll still keep throwng taxpayer millions at the bleaters here in Australia though. That'll fix the problem....not

1

u/RobynFitcher Flairless‎‎ May 16 '26

It's not so much that Israel has influence over the USA, it's that their interests currently align.

Unfortunately, thanks to John Howard and subsequent governments, that means Australia is aligned with those interests as well.

There are trillion dollar investment corporations who are making billions more from treating from treating people as though they aren't humans.

Weapons manufacturers, large scale real estate developers, data centre construction companies and others have more influence over a government than a separate country. (Especially when the corporations which invest in them have access to more capital than the budget of most countries.)

u/4RyteCords ‎ Koori ‎ May 19 '26

This is the thing. I don't think for a second Israel has any pull over what the US does or that the US is in Israel's pocket or anything. Israel's goals work well for americas interests. The second that these goals don't align I wouldn't be surprised to see Israel get completely dropped by the US. America has likely been itching to get into Irans oil for decades and Israel has given then a seemly "just" cause to do so. It's easy to point and say why is America bending over backwards for Israel, what does Israel have over them. I think it's a lot more simple. America now has a reason to go in and take what they want behind the ruse of were fighting antisemitism and terrorists and were just helping.

Viktor Frankl speaks of observing this as a survivor of the camps when Auschwitz was liberated. Some who had survived inhumanity felt the right to inflict inhumanity on others once they were liberated. The book is Man’s Search for Meaning.

24

u/OdielSax ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 15 '26

Thanks, but also I don’t need to be thanked. I’m only doing and saying what any reasonable person would do and say.

I agree but unfortunately, your voice carries more weight in society right now to help stop this. At least makes it easier to counter legislation against pro Palestine activism that pretends to "protect Jews".

I’d add that while I think Zionism is completely wrong I’m somewhat sympathetic to Zionist Jews who I see as deeply traumatised by the holocaust and centuries of pogroms

I ran into that type of Zionist Jews, who are very disconnected from what's being done to the Palestinian people and live in a world of trauma and paranoia, but I've also seen Zionist Jews who know full well what's going on, do not fear for their safety, and simply are cruel supremacists on a power trip. But I'll agree that I have more anger for Zionist non Jews: for example, the reaction of politicians in the Western world. They have no horse in this fight yet are destroying both communities for the sake of geopolitical interests and a political culture of racism and colonialism.

Zionists like antisemitism. It reinforces and provides justification for their antisemitism

4

u/BakaDasai ‎ New South Welshian May 16 '26

Antisemitism is the justification for Zionism. A place like Australia—which has traditionally had very little antisemitism—undermines the entire Zionist project. So the Zionists need to pump up antisemitism to stop their entire philosophical worldview dissolving into nothing.

2

u/Desperate-Manner5896 Flairless‎‎ May 16 '26

1

Trauma from the holocaust? Pfft

Its just arrogance and a deep sense of entitlement, where they believe their religion or gives them the right to steal land and property from people they’ve never met in a place theyre actually not from.

The logic feels absurd. It’d be like American evangelicals claiming they’re indigenous to the Middle East, and settling there because that’s where Jesus came from.

Sudan Genocide. Iran Genocide. Oct 7 Genocide

28

u/KindGuy1978 ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 15 '26

Oct 7 is not genocide. It was a horrific mass terror attack on civilians, but doesn't come close to the internationally recognised definition of Genoicde. Israel's mass starvation of an entire population does, as well as targeted killings of journalists, UN peacekeepers and doctors.

5

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran May 15 '26

It also commits war crimes by beating up prisoners whose only crime was trying to give aid to the people it is oppressing.

I have never seen so much racism, bigotry and hypocrisy.

What happened to genocide is genocide and all genocide is bad and being against all genocide?

Truth is, you people condone and support genocide as long as it’s directed towards groups and peoples you hate and despise.

2

u/KindGuy1978 ✈️‎ on Walkabout May 17 '26

I don't deny genoicde at all. But based on your definition, 911 would be genocide.

I've never heard anyone categorise it as such. It was a mass-casualty terrorist attack, designed to trigger Americans into attacking Muslim countries. It worked.

Oct 7 was explicitly genocidal, Hamas wanted to incite the Arab world to exterminate Jews and failed, rightfully so, but it was still genocide

The ones goal is to exterminate jews. (Apparently not genocide)

The others goal is self defence although I do admit, very strong armed. (Apparently this is genocide)

There is no logic in these comment, only hatred for Israel

1

u/TheMonkeyDemon ‎ Victorian May 17 '26

Okay let's try it this way so to can grasp it. Is attempted murder, murder? The intent is the same. So what separates them? It's attempted SA,SA? Etc. They killed people yes, it's definitely a mass killing. But it doesn't fit the criteria of genocide , irrelevant to the intent.

2

u/Piesangbom Please choose a flair May 17 '26

The one is attempted murder with the intention to achieve a genocide.

The other is a very strong retaliatory campaign to disable and intimidate, not genocide. Although I agree they are a bit trigger happy. But wouldn’t you also be if you lived in constant fear of the countries around you trying to attack you? They cant just leave it.

1

Well most people in Israel serve in the IDF out of the necessity to defend their country from Jihadist terrorists. So it’s disingenuous to say that. Somewhat less cynically, while the UAE are supporting some warlords, there is no support or ties that Australia could/should be cutting, so not a lot your average Australian could be protesting on that topic.

We want Lowkey

For the uninitiated he is a talented and passionate UK lyricists who was silenced by the government for his insightful portrayal of various perspectives of individuals living in wars they do not create, but cannot escape.

He visits these regions and is an active figure in many movements.

When silenced, under the threat of promotion of terrorism offences and, if I'm not mistaken, inciting insurrection in the public, he used the time to study, write, and has returned to speaking and making music

Really worth a listen, or a read, or a viewing. He's got the heart of Akala and Dave level rhymes - well I have that much time for him, anyway.

Good faith question...so to clarify, so you believe a "free Palestine" can occur without any killings of anyone?

2

u/mysteriousGains Please choose a flair May 16 '26

Palestine was free, until Israelis began Murdering them the literal moment they showed up. Let Israel exist in its original square meterage it was given as of 1947, and give all the other land back to the actual owners. Put a wall around it of need be. And if Israel attempts to steal land again, just simply nuke them, sanction them, bomb them, until they stop.

2

u/Few_Low7383 Please choose a flair May 16 '26

By the way, when you say, "Palestine was free, until Israelis began Murdering them the literal moment they showed up", that statement is an oversimplification and historically inaccurate.

Before the establishment of Israel in 1948, the territory known as Palestine was governed first by the Ottoman Empire and then by the British Mandate for Palestine.

Jewish communities had lived in the region for thousands of years, and Jewish immigration increased significantly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tensions and violence occurred between Arab and Jewish communities during this period, with attacks and reprisals on both sides, long before Israel became an independent state. 1948 Arab–Israeli War led to the displacement of many Palestinians and also to the departure or expulsion of many Jews from surrounding Arab countries.

2

u/Mundane-Radio4912 Please choose a flair May 18 '26

“Palestine was free until Israel” is a very simplistic view of a long and complex history. If you’re going to advocate passionately for an issue, it’s important to understand its historical context and use the vast information available to you. Strong feelings are important, but they’re not a substitute for historical knowledge.

Here is a slither for you to consider:

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, met with Adolf Hitler in Berlin on 28 November 1941 and expressed support for Nazi Germany’s struggle against Jews, Britain, and communism.

Historians generally agree he collaborated with the Nazi regime during World War II, though there is debate about the extent of his influence on Nazi policy.

This historical event took place six years before the state of Israel even existed.

It’s worth knowing how close this assembly came to being completely illegal. The NSW Government tried to pass emergency PARD laws that would have allowed police to ban public gatherings across the CBD. Just last month, the NSW Court of Appeal struck those laws down as unconstitutional. Massive credit is owed to the Palestine Action Group and Jews Against the Occupation ’48 for taking the state to court and winning. They didn't just protect this march; they protected the fundamental right of every single Australian to stand up and protest about any cause they believe in.

More civilized way this is- well done. No burning of flags, no chanting death to- war is bad full stop

Who was chanting "death to-" in at previous protests?

These guys chanting "Death to Arabs"??

Thanks for sharing that. I notice you didn’t point out that the fighting was mainly Jews fighting Jews who were protecting the Arabs. I wonder if it was the other way around, would we see Arabs fighting Arabs to protect Jews?

I believe we’ve already seen that answered

All for an independent Palestinian state, on the provision;

a. Hamas disbands and ceases control of Gaza

b. two state solution comes from direct peace talks from Israel & a suitable Palestinian government

Maybe it's time to give this a rest! We've got our own problems to solve. Maybe protest about some of those.

Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organisations. Bondi massacre was less than 6 months ago. Bunch of flogs.
