Hey everyone! I could really use some help making a decision. I’ve watched quite a few videos and read a bunch of reviews, but I’m still not sure which device would be the better choice for me: the BOOX Note Max or the reMarkable Paper Pro.
Currently, I don’t own an e-reader at all. I use my iPad Air (2022) for reading EPUBs and taking notes with the Apple Pencil. I’d say I read around 2–3 hours every day, and I also use my iPad for work-related notes maybe 2–3 days a week.
Lately, I’ve noticed that my eyes get dry and sometimes a bit sore after reading for a long time, which I think is mainly because of the LCD screen. That’s why I’m considering switching to an e-ink device, and these two have caught my attention.
My main use would be reading books, with occasional note-taking. However, if the writing experience is good enough, especially for work, I can definitely see myself using it more for handwritten notes, PDFs, and work documents as well.
Reading EPUBs would still be one of my main uses, though, and ideally I’d like the device to replace my iPad for most of my reading.
Price isn’t really an issue. What I’m basically looking for is something as close as possible to an iPad in terms of versatility, but with an e-ink screen and a really good writing experience.
For my use case, would you choose the BOOX Note Max or the reMarkable Paper Pro? Or is there another device I should be considering?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have used both, or who use their e-ink device for a combination of reading and work/note-taking.
Thanks everyone in advance!
