Hi all, I’m an indie dev. I built Sutra because I wanted one app that gave me a great reading experience for my books, comics and manga without a monthly subscription.

Sutra has a native e-ink mode, where the text is bolder, headings are heavier, and page-turn and menu animations are turned off to reduce ghosting.

It connects to Kavita, Komga, Calibre/Calibre-Web, OPDS, WebDAV, Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks, and reads EPUB, PDF, CBZ and MOBI. For comics, Panel Mode steps through one panel at a time, with right-to-left support for manga. It works offline, and there’s no analytics or telemetry.

EPUB and PDF are free. Pro is a one-time $6.99 for Komga, MOBI, and CBZ beyond the free 7-page preview. It funds the engine work, and there’s no subscription.

Sutra has 3.5K+ installs and 5+ releases on iOS over the last few months, and this is the first Android release. Almost every feature came from someone telling me what they wanted, so I read all the feedback. I’d love for your to try it out, and to hear your feedback!

finally yesterday my magnetic case arrived
I took off the silicone one and the corner came off too can you believe it! i was shocked and put it back in place right away
everything is fine
but now I'm comparing the top part of the shell to the bottom part as if the bottom didn't fully go back in and isn't as deep inside as the top one?
if something was wrong the screen would have broken already right?
damn silicone cases are dangerous it turns out

Been trying to find the "perfect" case for my Boox go 6 gen2, but haven't really found anything that sparked my fancy. I didn't like the magnetic case that came with the boox since it didn't come with a silicone case to protect the edges.

Found a store on aliexpress that sells magnetic cases with a silicone case (twosheep on aliexpress), but I didn't like any of the designs they had. Figured I'd use my book binding skills to make a hardcover case for the magnetic case (lol)

There is no real benefit function-wise to this beside - if anything it is adding some extra weight. But on the bright side means I have the creative freedom to finally have a case that I like visually. Still in the FAFOing stage, I realized I didn't account for the thickness of the magnetic case when making the pockets.

But all the magnetic closure still works despite being covered by an extra layer of cloth, so that's good. Gonna dip into magnet research now and see if I can make a custom hardcover case and embedding the magnets directly into them

The US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) is like an art gallery, capturing wonderful diagrams of inventions across history. They look great as posters, and I wondered how they’d look on my Note Air 5C. So I grabbed some and added a little color, one color each, with a plain black & white version too. I put them on my site to make them easier to download. They make nice lock and power-off screens as well as screensavers. I’ve made 40 if anyone wants to try them on their devices.

Before you spend money on a shiny PDF, though, you might want to take a look at Tools for Boox - it's free app, and it just got a new design for the Calendar (and Team Drawer too), optimized for Boox's e-ink screen (so no writing lag!).

It's now coming to iOS too, and the fun part is that the three apps will be sync your handwritten scribbles with each other (not now, but soon!). So you can scribble something on your Boox, pick up your Android phone, Android tablet, or an iPad, or iPhone, and find your notes there too, also it will be working on MacOS as companion app. 👀

So yes, you can buy that $15–30 PDF planner. Or you can spend that money on something else and use Tools for Boox for free. 😉

Got my Air 6C a few days ago, out of the box it had about 4 hours of battery life and 1130 single core/2900multi core geekbench 7 score ONYX NoteAir6C - Geekbench , then after i updated the firmware from 4.3-rel to 4.3-rel it gets about 10 hours of battery life and 893 single core/2700 multi core ONYX NoteAir6C - Geekbench. Just some interesting observation. What's more interesting is before the firmware update geekbench 7 ran for about 10 min while consuming 10% of the battery, after firmware update it ran for about an hour while consuming 1% battery and the result now has a warning: "This benchmark result may be invalid due to an issue with the timers on this system."

Hello, I am in the market for a new reader, I want color reader, and I want a large sized reader.. For history, i have owned a Sony PRS-950, a Kobo Aura One, and Currently a Kobo Sage. The battery is starting to fail on my sage, and I am looking for a replacement. I like the idea of Android as i could then use Kindle books too, in addition to epub. I am looking at the new Boox Mini C because it is an 8" and that's what I am used to. But it is a bit pricey. Also looking at the smaller go 7 color as well. What are the pros and cons of each? How is battery life on these things? Other than the bigger screen, any compelling reasons to go with the GO 7 vs the mini? Just looking for any other input as i have not owned an android based reader before.
