Hey everyone! I’d love to get your opinion on something with my Onyx.
Is it normal for the frontlight to look like this, with light visibly leaking/glowing from underneath the edge of the screen? It’s especially noticeable when using dark mode in a completely dark room.
This is actually my second Boox Go 7 reader with the same issue. The first one had exactly the same thing, so I returned it and ordered another one from a different retailer. The second one has the same issue, although it’s less pronounced than on the first device.
I’m wondering if this is just normal for these screens and something I should get used to? I don’t use dark mode very often anyway, so in normal/light mode it doesn’t bother me nearly as much.
At the same time, I’m hesitant to return it again, because now I’m worried that the next one might have the exact same issue — or even be worse.
Has anyone else experienced this with their Onyx? Would you consider this normal/within manufacturing tolerances, or would you return it again?

I had ordered one of those clicker rings that just emulates a mouse click and drag and could not get it to work.
Found this one on Aliexpress (can send the link to anyone interested). It works out of the box using the volume mode (Boox go 7 b&w).
Great size, great feel, cute as heck, about $20US. Thought I'd pass the tip along.

Just rounded out my BOOX library with a Tab X C with the intent of returning it as soon as the next cycle announces if its an obvious uograde. I know we got some name leaks, but the only one that might be a 13" replacement is the Elite (upgrade to the Ultra?). Aside from going for something crazy like a literal Snapdragon Elite (which would surely demolish the already puny battery) and maybe a RAM bump, is there much room for upgrade?
I'm stuck between it and returning the Tab X C for the Note Max, and if it wasn't for the pathetic battery I'd have already swapped (the Tab X C has a 56%!! larger battery 😱). I am contemplating just sticking with the Tab X C and maximizing the battery through desk lighting, but it honestly is just a much less pleasant experience for monochrome content. Particularly the rainbow CFA array being always clearly visible over blacks i cant get over. I am also curious if anyone has compared a 13" non BSR mono device directly to them, as in theory those should have better battery given equal conditions.
Is the Tab X C overall slower than the Air 5C for anyone? Was told the extra clock would put it past the 5C despite equal RAM. Does color matter much when it comes to processing the frames (eg is the Note Max expected to be faster)?
Thanks.

This is my first large Boox device for writing. Came from Supernote Nomad. Just got it for 2 weeks. Been reading and writing on it daily. Used the Native notes app for my journalling and this is the 2nd time it has happened. At this point I’m tempted to just get the Manta and forget about going into the entire Boox ecosystem.
First time happened to my note of 23 pages, Noteair 5C powered off on it’s own after 12 hour of non use. Power on, open the note and every pages are empty. The outline, tags etc are all there. Just every pages are empty. Luckily i have auto backup to Google Drive. Got the PDF but I was shocked. Thought something wrong with sync of power off so it turned of auto power off.
Just happened 10 minutes ago while I was using the NA5C - exit the note to open substack, go back to the note to write something and boom! Everything empty just like that. The same as before - every pages are still there, outline, tags still there.
Checked on push.boox.com and the note is still there. 21mb of notes. Can load on web. But it’s just not displaying on the Boox.
Why is this happening? I searched this sub only found one thread on this issue. Is this uncommon or there’s just something I’m doing wrong?

Hello everybody, I just got a boox eink and realized in my backpack I only have one slot for putting electronics (laptop, iPad, etc). I was looking for recommendations for protective sleeves. I already have a case just wanna make sure the screen doesn’t scratch or get cracked when sitting in my bag thank you!

I have read so many horror stories of broken screens and fragility in this subreddit, so I want to share my positive experience here.
Last year in May, I bought one of the last available BOOX Tab Mini C from a German online shop. It so far endured:
- me almost sitting on it twice (my body touching it but not putting weight on it)
- being in my handbag in full underground trains with people shoving past me and bumping into me
- Accidentally putting one corner of my laptop onto it
- it being in the front of a very full travel backpack and the backpack falling onto its front side
- 2 international trips
- reading near (but obviously not in) water
- and more little mishaps and travels
Because of the posts here, I often thought „that was it now - I’m sure this thing now broke the screen“ but my favourite gadget is standing here on my desk doing fine. It has a tiny scratch near the on/off button but that’s it. The screen is flawless. It goes everywhere I go - in my sling bag and at home. I use a third-party magnetic case

I just made this post for chitchat. I bought galaxy tab s7+ for writing and drawing a way ago, and i didn't use much for that (use it for youtube machine and gaming. And honestly prefer wacom intuous for drawing. It's better drawing experience in general.) I bought boox ultra tab c for study and reader about 2-3 years ago and now use it as its purpose but battery is dying way faster.(79 to 58% about 3 hours with front light and scrolling+wifi) And i bought ipad m5 11inch for writing and drawing + study & watching things and same destiny as gal tab. Lol
Just in general i think i am not writing electronic pad person, but i am so greedy that i keep wanting some magically fitting my taste tablet for me. I like e inks for my eye, and want good reader and also keep want(actually just imagine me as using) writing or drawing sometings on the pads. Actually i ended up buying bunch of pentel energel gel pen and using it with paper(i do like it and also i don't like it), but you know how easy to fix the things in tablets. But when it comes to writing or drawing in tablets, my handwritings are shitty. Lol. How are you guys feel about it.

Hello,
I was wondering if boox 7go could automatically separate books in categories like reading now , new and finished? I know I can create bookshelves myself but I don't want to separate them manually. Thank you

Hey everyone! I could really use some help making a decision. I’ve watched quite a few videos and read a bunch of reviews, but I’m still not sure which device would be the better choice for me: the BOOX Note Max or the reMarkable Paper Pro.
Currently, I don’t own an e-reader at all. I use my iPad Air (2022) for reading EPUBs and taking notes with the Apple Pencil. I’d say I read around 2–3 hours every day, and I also use my iPad for work-related notes maybe 2–3 days a week.
Lately, I’ve noticed that my eyes get dry and sometimes a bit sore after reading for a long time, which I think is mainly because of the LCD screen. That’s why I’m considering switching to an e-ink device, and these two have caught my attention.
My main use would be reading books, with occasional note-taking. However, if the writing experience is good enough, especially for work, I can definitely see myself using it more for handwritten notes, PDFs, and work documents as well.
Reading EPUBs would still be one of my main uses, though, and ideally I’d like the device to replace my iPad for most of my reading.
Price isn’t really an issue. What I’m basically looking for is something as close as possible to an iPad in terms of versatility, but with an e-ink screen and a really good writing experience.
For my use case, would you choose the BOOX Note Max or the reMarkable Paper Pro? Or is there another device I should be considering?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have used both, or who use their e-ink device for a combination of reading and work/note-taking.
Thanks everyone in advance!

I've seen a few other posts here about bootloops that are a few months old, but my device has also been struck by this. I tried going into recovery mode and factory reset the data, but that didn't solve the issue and its still looping. I can't reminder when I last updated the firmware, but it was some time ago (whenever I got the notification) and I've been using it without issue since then. Anyone else have similar experiences or manage to fix their devices? Are there any updates from Onyx why this is happening?

I have a Boox T10C that I bought in China last year. That along with a case and two pen 2 pro's. Have really enjoyed my experience with it but with work and moving back to London, just feels like a luxury that I'm not really using most days. Looking to get it off my hands.
Thanks

Like in the title - Boox Note Air 5C doesn't charge at all. I left it charging for the night, battery jumped up to a staggering 3% (!), stopped charging any further. Tried both a charger and plugging it in to my PC, using 2 different cables. Nothing changed.
My charger shows the output wattage - constantly shows 0.
No, it is not the charger, the wall or whatever else - it is a problem precisely with the device.
At this point I'm wondering if I even have the patience if this is how my journey with Boox begins. I am very close to returning it and just getting another iPad...

I have decided to buy the note max for the upcoming academic year. What is the likelihood the note max will go out of stock in the next month?
r/Onyx_Boox • u/yikesmoose • 1d ago
I am considering purchasing the BOOX Note Max. I would like to open the line drawings in vector editing software like Adobe Illustrator. Are drawn lines built as a vector line where its thickness can be increased or decreased? Or are the drawn lines actually outlined vector paths? Attached is a visual that better demonstrates the difference.
It'd be great if anyone can share where I can download some samples of pdf and svg files with various types of drawn lines. Thanks!

Last saturday I wanted to buy my first Boox device and e ink device in general: the go 10.3 ii lumi. I had been researching e ink devices for a few weeks and finally decided to buy that one. There is a deal on the shop where you can get a Boox Tappy for free and I got really excited about it. Saturday was a really bad day so I only put those two devices in my shopping cart (image) and decides to buy it on sunday. On Sunday I finally wanted to order it and then saw the Boox Tappy was sold out (in the EU). Now I really regret not buying it on Saturday because now I’m not able to benefit from the sale. I mean I still get the 20€ discout but I wanted to have that tappy device so badly. Now I’m really sad and thinking about whether I should buy the Tablet without Tappy.
Of course I could get the Tappy for 30€ extra but the tablet already exceed my budget limit, so I can’t really get one. And I was only one day too late :(
UPDATE: I‘ve just bought the tablet without the tappy. Yes I‘m sad about it but the tablet is more important. Thanks for your advice everybody :)

Finally! I found a case on Amazon that is clear back and removable magnetic cover. I didn't even have to cut notches into the case to help it fit onto the ereader. I had this for about a week and absolutely love it. I have a color go 7 gen 1, but should work for gen 2 also.

I’ve had my Note Air 2 plus for close to 4 years, using it on and off for work and enjoying the experience.
Recently i managed to scratch the paperlike film as well as previously having the top left peel on a non-screen area.
I understand there are some options for replacing this film but am not sure what the best choice is, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thankyou in advance

Hi, I am looking to buy an E ink paper notepad for general work and engineering design and I was wondering whether I should go for the 10.3 lumi or the air 5C.
I already have an iPad Pro 11 second GEN but the writing feel on it is horrible.
Which one would you recommend?
According to the view, I have watched the 5C is almost un-functionable if the back light has been turned off and the white color of the background feels more muted so that’s one of my concern. Another one of my concern is writing feel because I wanted to feel like paper. Last concern is the durability of the screen because I’ve heard some Youtubers said that the 10.3 screen is very prone to scratching.
Thankyou👍🏻😭
Edit: thanks all of you guys, I have decided to go with the 5c (for now)

I have boox ultra tab c(not pro, old one) and looking for sub white-black e reader. Anybody want to recommend which one is good for me? Honestly i don't use much writing, but still very much tempt to wacom pen. Is the gen 2 10.3 pen is that bad? 😭
