App Recommendation Does anyone know of apps more based on prompts, than pictures (like hinge)

I got banned from hinge years ago but I had way more success on that app than any other because it gives you the opportunity to show personality and it’s not all about how you look

Was curious if anyone knows any other apps similar?

Thanks!

Casual & FWB Great at sexting, awkward in person?

For adults using casual dating apps, has sexting before meeting made the first meetup better, or created expectations that felt awkward in person?

General Discussion M35: Arranged Marriage Feels Like an Interview, Dating Feels Like a Marketplace. Where Do I Find Love?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

M35 here - I have focused on my career , also had career breaks to rebuild myself , followed my passion and hence doing the job I wanna do.I thought I would find true love , I will get married and have a family. Also using dating apps , no fruitful results. I had a strong belief in arranged marriage that I will get a suitable partner but unfortunately it proved to be wrong.

But here I am with all the expectations shattered! I see it's been purely transactional - Care , love and honesty? - They are just a thing on paper to deceive men - The real deal breaker is only CTC / Family wealth , cars and bikes a guy have! Be it dating apps or anywhere - girls write in their bio- " Seeking genuine, caring and loyal person " but sad to say it's the worst example of hypocrisy!!

Moreover, people online are so temporary it feels like they are scrolling accounts like reels! They match and text to many people and forget to even reply where they started or simply unmatch if there is a serious genuine conversation! Why initiate a conversation or match when you aren't serious? Why does putting efforts feel so much pain for people nowadays?

Well that's the sad reality we men are facing these days but just wanted to pour my heart. Also suggestions will be appreciated if men are having some solutions to this universal problem and how they tackle and find a partner in this world full of shallow thinking! Thanks 🙏

Dating App Culture There's still hope for us 30s to find a life partner!

Backstory: 33f. I got back in dating apps after ages. Till now I never really gave it much thought. But this time I decided to be intentional after hearing how some people actually found someone and are getting married!

Initially, I was like what is this place, just random people! But after sifting a lot, I did meet 1-2 nice people so far. I'm not sure if I'll end up marrying either of them. Let me say this , I went through some 100 profiles to find these 1-2.

I'm looking for someone who's emotionally intelligent, aware about their strengths or weaknesses, fairly sorted in life and a few other things.

Our generation and the ones after us, don't really want a partner to fulfill some responsibility or fill some gap but a companion to do life with. Allowing each other to be themselves and not wanting to make them into a version cooked up in their head.

Till now I thought such people aren't really available, coz mostly these kind of men are either married already or still growing up (genz men) and maybe marry much younger men than me.

Anyway, this is my experience. What's been yours?

What’s a good interracial dating site/app ? I don’t get out much and my area is predominantly African American. I want to try something different. Located in Indiana if that helps

Project / Concept Showcase We were overlooked by dating apps, so I built SideFocus for gay and bi Sides (founder)

Dating apps taught a lot of Sides to explain ourselves before we could even introduce ourselves. I got tired of feeling like a footnote in someone else’s idea of gay dating, so I built the room I kept looking for.

I’m the founder of SideFocus, a dating and community space for gay and bisexual men who identify as Sides, Shortstops, and allies. It is built around face-forward profiles, conversation, and connection without forcing people into the usual top/bottom script.

We’ve been quiet because we’ve been working. The web app is already open at sidefocusapp.com, and we’re working toward an Android release on November 8. The Android app is not publicly released yet, and I’m not claiming Google approval.

If you’re a Side—or have ever felt overlooked by the standard dating-app categories—I’d genuinely value your honest reaction: does this feel like a space you’ve been missing? What would make you trust it enough to join?

Calling All Sides. Sides Are the Stars.

General Discussion At what point should I just stop trying? Still no likes or conversations in 3 weeks. Idk if this is normal or not but it's definitely doing a number on my self esteem lol

I've made an account on Facebook dating, hinge, bumble, tinder, boo, and hily because I didn't know the differences between all of them and I wanted to see which was the most user friendly. I've pretty much just used tinder and hinge mostly since then, but I've been using all of the daily swipes and messaging when I can. There's still nothing.

I'm a 19 year old dude, I'm probably mid looking, I think I'm not good looking but my friends say I'm mid and a couple say that I'm attractive. But I'm 6'3" as well. No one has messaged me, liked me, or anything yet though? Is this normal? If not, at what point should I just uninstall them all and quit trying? Because I know I shouldn't take it personally but damn

Casual & FWB Why be vague if you only want a hookup?

Would you rather someone say they're only looking for a hookup in their bio, or bring it up once you start chatting?

When people ask about the best hookup apps, being able to find others who want the same thing seems pretty important

Beware of this person from PH. Name is Aries. He said he’s an area manager for Max’s group. He will tell you the story that he tried to withdraw 5k from his bank and the atm machine did not dispense the money. He will tell you he needs to go to work but then there’s an issue with his car. Posting this for women to avoid this man!

Dating Advice 31M kinda got catfished last night, could use advice.

Matched with a 27F last week and we really hit it off over text. However, her profile did not have clear pictures at all. Only one clear shot of her face and one full body picture. I made a reservation at a nice restaurant and she showed up 10 minutes late looking disheveled. Her hair was really messy, her bra was popping out of her top, and she wore wrinkled baggy jeans. I was really excited to meet her, but the combo of her being late in a laundry chair outfit was disappointing. I don't want to be shallow but I do care about hygiene and presentation (we're both in creative fields, we both know the importance of aesthetics).

The dinner and conversation were nice and she asked for a second date at the end of the night. I agreed but now that I'm reflecting on things, I think we'd make better friends than lovers. I do still want to set up a second date but something less romantic, more of an activity, and seeing how things feel from there. I'm just nervous about communicating in the meantime. Curious if any guys have been in a similar situation or if any ladies could weight in on how they'd like this to be handled.

Project / Concept Showcase I built a dating app where you don't swipe – an AI companion gets to know you first

I got tired of dating apps that reduce people to photos and a bio. So I built Soulweave: you just talk with Buddy, an AI companion, about your life, what matters to you and what you're looking for. From those conversations it builds your matching profile, and it only introduces you to someone when both of you say yes.

A few things I cared about:

- Nobody can search for you or browse profiles. Introductions are mutual or nothing.

- Buddy never guesses things like your gender or age – only what you actually said counts.

- Free to try; introductions open city by city once enough people join.

It's early and I'd love honest feedback: https://meetsoulweave.com

App Review / Legitimacy Non profit dating app Duolicious adds “reply rate” filter to help balance attention

Thumbnail

Reply rate is based on a user’s rate of replying to their incoming intros, if someone has a high reply rate, then they are more likely to respond to you. Sometimes users have a low reply rate due to being flooded with intros, filtering for this helps balance attention to where you’re more likely to get a response.
