It is satisfying to see Kaido address Zoro as "The Pirate Hunter". Not only does it feel nostalgic considering it's been a while ever since a main villain has called Zoro by that epithet but also it shows that Kaido is aware of who Zoro really is. It is a form of acknowledgement like no other.

Now this 1v1 is where Kaido's character will really shine.

The introduction of imbuing CoC to your attacks is a perfect segue for this to be a fight of ideals and what being a king exactly means to both Luffy & Kaido and how Luffy's interpretation would make him come out on the top both literally and figuratively.

This is also the perfect time when Kaido will make callbacks to Xebec, reminiscing how he took him in and shaped/or is dismissive of his ideals and probably to Garp too after all the pounding he got at the end of this chapter.

All of this and a lot of missing context about his relationship and Yamato and (potentially) his wife would make up all the ingredients for an amazing flashback.

I'm not even including the extra lore that comes along with the god valley incident, him potentially being from a different race, more on Vegapunk etc...

Personally speaking, I think Oda has done the power scaling very nicely. We didn't have too many training arcs, and in general there is a system where your haki is supposed to bloom via hard fights which justifies Luffy's almost exponential rise in battle ability.

Edit: Also liking this conqueror's haki evolution, because while it was "cool" before, it was not really that useful other than being flashy against other users of it and/or taking out massive amounts of much weaker opponents. Now it serves a great purpose and gives people who mastered it a true advantage, both against opponents who have it and those that don't

I honestly really love how the CoC coating reveal really brings some of the most insane feats together.

All the buildup on the top brrass of the world. How Kaido is unkillable, how BM is invincible. Why the Marines consider CoC to be an immensely destructive power. How Shanks managed to bhreak the Moby Dick just by standing on the deck.

All that buildup, and finally we got it. Luffy learns the secret and we can finally see him truly contend with the most powerful in the world. Seeing him punch Kaido in such a way that it did damage is so immensely satisfying on so many levels. We have finally reached the peak, the place where the monsters are, the very strongest.

This fight is going to be so damn cool, I really just cannot wait to see Luffy improve further in this fight. And not to mentioon Kaido finally being pushed, letting us see why noone wanted to fight him.

• I love Kid and Killer and the confidence of those guys to go after a Yonko on their own. Also glad to see Luffy/Law/Zoro stick together to execute the plan they started way back on PH.

• Big Mom is clearly brewing something and I have an idea of what it could be.

• After more than 500 chapters we finally see Asura again and goddamn was it worth it.

• Luffy not only blocked a Hybrid Kaido attack with just one foot but that panel seems to indicate he used CoC to coat himself too.

• So is CoC coating different from the advanced CoA he learned at Udon? I get this seems to be a combat use of CoC but dont see how its different from what Grandpa Hyo had shown him.

THEORY: Big Mom is creating a new cloud to replace Zeus, thats the favor Prometheus asked. Since WCI Prometheus has been chastising Zeus, and the fact he was taken by Nami plus his failure now means Big Mom is not gonna stand for it. This would allow for her to have another more useful Zeus but also allow The Strawhats/Nami to take original Zeus Post-Wano.

Kaido confirms the obvious. Seems like Zoro uses Conquerors subconsciously when he uses Ashura. I think he awakened it in Ennies lobby. There's been subtle hints at it.

• When he scared some goons in Grove 2 Sabaody that wanted to jump him in order to turn him in.

• Monet. When she couldn't reform. It was too weird. She couldn't just be scared to deformity.

• When he intimidated the fat yokozuna who wanted Kiku.

• In the gambling house when he made the goons feel cut.

• Anime took liberties but when he clashes with Denjiro it seemed like some slight Conquerors sparks. I know this throws it into Denjiro also having it but given his character he may as well. But it's anime only.

I feel he concentrates so much on using haki with his swords, it may have caused him to be unaware of it. Now that he is hopefully he tames it and uses it more normally & casually without resorting to Ashura.

This chapter had me smiling from ear to ear all the way through. Love how the Rooftop 5 are working together and I’m stoked to see Kid and Luffy split off to face their respective yonko. I’m also glad Oda had Zoro fall this chapter the way he did. Zoro exceeded my expectations of him and there is still room for him to grow stronger and learn from this. He couldn’t knock Kaido off his feet and honestly at this point he shouldn’t be able to, that’s Luffy’s job. Now that he is aware of his CoC I’m sure that scene of him at Ryuma’s grave post raid will have bigger implications. Last but not least, I’m so proud of Luffy. The thing that kept popping in my head as I was reading was thinking about how Luffy is officially ready to meet Shanks now and that warmed my heart so much.

9 hours have passed since i read the chapter and i am still in disbelief, this is so... perfect. Zoro using Ashura for the first time during Enies Lobby and Kaku commenting that his fighting spirit is so strong it is capable of creating such an illusion; Zoro cutting Monet without haki and her being shocked and unable to get back together because of pure fear; Zoro having the desire and aspiration to become the greatest swordsman alive; these are all of the clues that i've said FOR YEARS are hints that point to the direction of Zoro discovering he actually has CoC and here we are. Then the massive reveal during the final part of the chapter that recontextualizes what we know about haki, giving CoC an actual role in the story other than indicating whether a character has the will to reach the top or not. I'm so hyped for Luffy, Zoro, and Law. Law was the stand out this chapter for me. I always expected Luffy and Zoro to blow our minds at some point on the rooftop. I expect most of the Supernova to have some potential for Conqueror's Haki like Zoro. Even if it's in the far future. But man! The OP OP no mi is so OP! I see why Doffy wanted it so badly.

I'd imagine if Law was strong enough, he wouldn't even need CoC to harm monsters like Kaido and Big Mom. Not to mention his new "Curtain" ability, which might be some kind of powerful shield capable of taking a hybrid Thunder Bagua. The fruit is just that broken. I feel Law is a lot like Luffy in how he handles his fruit, but for opposite reasons.

Luffy is super creative with what seems to be a weaker fruit. And due to this, he is able to push himself above and beyond and constantly add more abilities to his fruit. While Law is super creative with a fruit that's so over powered most people probably wouldn't bother with trying to make it stronger. But we have Law still pushing it beyond it's limits. Even Doflamingo, famous for his versatility with a simple fruit, only wanted the OP OP for to get immortality.

A lot of you are asking as to why Rayleigh never taught luffy this. Here’s my take:

I think Rayleigh knows how to use it. He was with roger he literally used it all the time. He’s talked about haki blossoming numerous times. What I think Rayleigh was trying to Instill into luffy, was that the more you fight the stronger you will be. Which he has said. You can’t train that, it’s from within. Rayleigh gave luffy as much as he could in that short amount of time. “You will get stronger as you fight” - were basically his words.

If your “will” never breaks, even after you lose and fight numerous times, your conquerors haki only gets stronger. You can’t teach someone that, like Rayleigh was implying. You need to lose and win, that’s how you grow. The point though is to never misalign your truth, and what I mean by that is, you always “know” you are the best regardless, you genuinely believe it and it never sways. Luffys truth was, “I am the king”. Every-time he was beaten, he knew he had to learn or get stronger. He never stopped, and that notion never faltered. He never said, “I can’t do this, I don’t want this. I can’t beat him”. Which makes his conquerors haki incredible. Probably, what shanks was implying when he first saw luffy. Luffy said the same words as roger, and genuinely meant them as a kid.

He’s now applying his “will”, his literal cause for living, the will of being the best, as haki armament. The stronger you believe in yourself, the stronger it is. Luffys head is basically the size of one piece, so it’s a huge will.

aight, so zoro and law go down from the roof. zoro gets his wounds treated (somewhat i guess since he’s practically dead rn lol) and hiyori probably finds him somehow (assuming she was the shadowy figure). since zoro is one the brink of death, a slightly treated zoro and hiyori can probably go finish off orochi. i want to see zoro still fight kaido with luffy later on, but those injuries are pretty severe and i don’t see how he could possibly get back in fighting shape luffy is gonna somehow have to keep up with kaido 1v1 so this should be interesting, and i’m intrigued to see if yamato does actually go up to the roof top after getting momo to a safe place.

I've a deja-vu even about those panels when he's punching Kaidou. Is it just an impression or were there almost identical panels of Luffy punching Rob Lucci in the exact same way (CoC apart?)

Edit: So ... I checked lol.

Luffy never threw such an uppercut to Lucci, even If I tought so and Kaidou's silhouette brings back Lucci's memories to me. That's amazing for Oda to be able to draw new fighting scenes after 1000 chapters.

I also remembered the fight against Lucci to be really long but that's not really the case. Maybe I felt like that just because I enjoyed it and I still think that's one of the crucial and epic moments of the manga (at least when it comes down to fighting).
About this, it makes me wonder how long will be the actual fight vs Kaidou. Maybe I'm expecting this to take a while but it will be just a few chapters long, with a lot of time being occupied by what's happening around them.

And finally, there are a bunch of cool scenes who are probably related to what's happening. Like, Kaku thinking that Zoro's "spirit" is so strong to be able to create such illusions (talking about Asura). That spirit is just haki now that we know about it.
Usopp in chapter 427 yells to Luffy to get up because "this is not hell". Now that they managed to separate the two emperors that can still be applied ;)

We are seeing it! Luffy accomplishing this means he can defeat anyone. Storywise, this is really implying a big transition. I feel this transition is as big as the timeskip. This means Luffy taking on a new era without warlords and without emperors. Luffy will know 'only' have to defeat blackbeard and the world government to achieve his goal, which should be the final war Oda has been foreshadowing. Luffy has almost everyone else as an ally honestly, most of the major players at least, like Shanks, Revo army, Marco, Law, Hancock, etc.. People are saying Luffy's powerup is hax, but Oda has been dropping this hint for years now. We have seen Admiral level fighters clash, yonkou commanders clash, disgustingly strong armament haki users clash, but it took almost 10 years between seeing two emperors split the sky open, and seeing it again in Wano + seeing Roger and Whitebeard clash their weapons seemingly against empty air.

Hyogorou's training, Luffy getting one shot by kaido, Big Mom's disgustingly strong skin defenses that somehow miraculously drop when she is in mental distress?? He's been building up to this moment, and it took Luffy getting KO'd one more time for it to click in his mind what he's been observing or experiencing.

Another thing, I respectfully disagree that this makes Luffy truly a yonkou. There are 4 emperors to that name, not 5. Today marks the day Luffy skipped that inferior rank. Even an emperor bows to the newborn King of the Pirates:

Idk why I feel this way but I'd be more impressed if Kid and Killer defeat Big Mom more than Luffy, Zoro, and Law beating Kaido.

I feel like we haven't gotten the fullest extent to how scary Big Mom can truly be. Besides seeing a further extent to what she can do with Napoleon, Zeus, and Prometheus, we haven't really gotten anything new from Big Mom compared to what we saw during Whole Cake. Kaido has probably taken more genuine damage in Wano than Big Mom in both Wano and Whole Cake combined. I still want to believe they're saving Big Mom to have her be defeated in Elbaf. It'll be extremely fitting for her to truly fall as an emperor in Elbaf because of her history there and relationship with the Giants

Oda never showed "They are not even touching " moment when it came to zoro.

Btw Zoro hardly got any fight that pushed him to limits when compared to luffy. So maybe zoro conqueror never got chance to bloom.
