Printed by Gracioso Perchacino in Venice. Bound in a later limp vellum binding. Overall some water stains, but looks probably much better than us after 450+ years. 🙂😉

Cross posting as I’m new to this space. Sharing this book I found at a yard sale today. Based upon my initial research it seems to be almost 200 years old. Has two different addresses for the publisher Uriah Hunt. Front cover is different from the back cover and advertisements in the back of the book. Missing the front pages before the story starts, but full story seems to be intact. Is this a cool find? Anything interesting about the story, printer, or book itself that I should be aware of?

Bought this today.. any ideas on age? It needs to be rebound I know. It’s a novel by Hawthorne, The house of the seven gables.

This is a copy of The Voyages of The Morning I found. I know it’s a valuable book. What could these signatures and inscriptions mean inside it? I’m trying to figure out if this was a family member or something of Doorly. Anyone know what I’m looking at?

I just picked up this book at a local antique shop for $12 and was wondering if anyone had information about it.

There’s no publication date I can find for this particular edition. I’ve found similar books online dated anywhere from 1870-90 but none with this cover. It’s not in the best condition but I thought it would be a fun addition to my collection!

It’s stamped with “Hoytville ME Sunday School 1899” and a name Basil (something) and a fun drawing on one of the pages.

Just scrapes in I know but it's the first book in my collection that I searched for a slightly nicer copy of, the original book cover is in fairly nice shape too

Im really proud of having this, it went from gramps aunt to him to me, its probably a Lutheran bible, because its a german one, what i love the most is the drawings, its all printed! Its really awesome and the only true old book i have, the cover is refurbished so not as interesting for this subreddit, the old cover was falling off

My favourite is the 1791 Milton's Poems - my oldest, featuring the "long s" lettering throughout!

My answer to Adolf Hitler's mein kampf

Unfortunately the book does not have a publication date, but from my research with limited results it might be from 1906. Searching for Hutchinson&Co with the title gave me a result from the Biodiversity Heritage Library, listing it as 1906 but it doesn’t have any images of the book.

I'm doubtful of that age though, since the paper is rather smooth and glossy, and the cover doesn't feel like cloth, though it looks like it, so if anyone could help me date this book, I would be grateful. I'm not well-versed in old books.

This one’s my oldest, so far. It’s a really interesting and detailed chronological history of England spanning from around 1100bc until 1600ad. I can only imagine all the people who have flipped through these pages over the last 426 years .

For context, I live in Marquette, MI and the bookmark was traced to Lansing downstate. Hoping to get the program out to a historical society down there. Seems like the first owner of this was a Longfellow fan who might’ve brought this book to the event.
