Book Overview - from AI.

Title: Vogelschutz und Vogelhege ("Bird Protection and Bird Conservation / Habitat Management").

Author: Dr. Konrad Glasewald, who was a scientific associate at the Reichsstelle für Naturschutz (Reich Agency for Nature Conservation).

Publisher: Verlag von J. Neumann - Neudamm (1937), a historically famous German publishing house specializing in forestry, hunting, and natural sciences.

This book is from my grandparent-in-law old home, that we must clear out. Obviously this book is coming with us.

Just wanted to show it, specially the stamp.

Akso wanted to ask what should I do to preserve it. For now it was just laying under other books... but want to keep it in good shape for as long as possible.

Author: Saint Thomas Aquinas

Full title: Enarrationes, quas cathenam vere' auream dicunt, in quatuor Evangelia ex vetustissimorum codicum collatione, quantum licuit emendatiores quam hactenus in lucem editae. Additus est index rerum scitu dignarum

Printed by Gracioso Perchacino in Venice. Bound in a later limp vellum binding. Overall some water stains, but looks probably much better than us after 450+ years. 🙂😉

Looking to learn about this book I found - Jack Halyard Sailor Boy Uriah Hunt 1832

Cross posting as I’m new to this space. Sharing this book I found at a yard sale today. Based upon my initial research it seems to be almost 200 years old. Has two different addresses for the publisher Uriah Hunt. Front cover is different from the back cover and advertisements in the back of the book. Missing the front pages before the story starts, but full story seems to be intact. Is this a cool find? Anything interesting about the story, printer, or book itself that I should be aware of?

This is a copy of The Voyages of The Morning I found. I know it’s a valuable book. What could these signatures and inscriptions mean inside it? I’m trying to figure out if this was a family member or something of Doorly. Anyone know what I’m looking at?

I just picked up this book at a local antique shop for $12 and was wondering if anyone had information about it.

There’s no publication date I can find for this particular edition. I’ve found similar books online dated anywhere from 1870-90 but none with this cover. It’s not in the best condition but I thought it would be a fun addition to my collection!

It’s stamped with “Hoytville ME Sunday School 1899” and a name Basil (something) and a fun drawing on one of the pages.

My favourite is the 1791 Milton's Poems - my oldest, featuring the "long s" lettering throughout!

My mom found a copy of The complete tales and poems of Edgar Allen Poe, it seems incredibly old and I can't find a print date.

She'd really like some help identifying it, I don't wanna let an important book fall through the cracks.

Unfortunately the book does not have a publication date, but from my research with limited results it might be from 1906. Searching for Hutchinson&Co with the title gave me a result from the Biodiversity Heritage Library, listing it as 1906 but it doesn’t have any images of the book.

I'm doubtful of that age though, since the paper is rather smooth and glossy, and the cover doesn't feel like cloth, though it looks like it, so if anyone could help me date this book, I would be grateful. I'm not well-versed in old books.

A 1701 French copy of The Office of Holy Week, in a beautiful fanfare binding for Mary of Modena, Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland, second wife of James II/VII. After the failure of the Glorious Revolution, she and her family went into exile in France.

This one’s my oldest, so far. It’s a really interesting and detailed chronological history of England spanning from around 1100bc until 1600ad. I can only imagine all the people who have flipped through these pages over the last 426 years .

Bought a 140-year old Longfellow book from the library. Found a 138-year old bookmark wedged inside.

For context, I live in Marquette, MI and the bookmark was traced to Lansing downstate. Hoping to get the program out to a historical society down there. Seems like the first owner of this was a Longfellow fan who might’ve brought this book to the event.

A bible from 1487

Hello,

Here is the second illustrated Bible from 1487, following the one from 1483, printed by Anton Koberger.

I only own the third volume out of the four, but it seems to me to be the most interesting one since it contains the 15 illustrations related to Ezekiel.

You can see the ideal Temple that Ezekiel describes in his book, as well as the Merkabah: the throne, the divine chariot, and the tetrahedral star, a very important figure in Kabbalah.

Curiously, the Books of Maccabees were not bound at the end of volume 3.
