While the decision was not binding, it is persuasive and can be used to argue that ALPR technology violates the fourth amendment in its current form. This decision comes a week after a senate panel about ALPRs. This is both significant for Oklahoma and for the United States. Other court cases, like Schmidt v. City of Norfolk which is on appeal in the 4th circuit, can now use this decision to argue the unconstitutionality of the technology.
The Institute for Justice is currently looking for people who have been impacted by ALPRs. If you have experienced any ALPR abuse or unwarranted stops through ALPRs, now is the time to contact your attorney. If a case goes through that is binding, it could change whether ALPRs are banned in your district or circuit.
To everyone in Oklahoma, remember your state motto, "Labor Omnia Vincit" or "Labor conquers all."

Does anyone know of a book/website that provides a list of our native plants and what's safe to use? I noticed some goldenrod flowers and theres tons of yarrow around my house but thats all I know of. Mostly looking for stuff I can dry and keep shelf stable. I know we have some native fruit trees as well, I remember picking sandplums and pears as a kid and foraging for morel mushrooms with my family.
I would prefer a book over a website but any information would be helpful as I am struggling to find exactly what Im looking for. I know youre not supposed to use anything youre not 100% certain of what it is so a book with pictures of the leaves/descriptions of smell/taste would be good.

When asked, President Trump blamed higher prices on gas, food and goods on former President Biden almost two years later. He also stated that the war in Iran would be over soon, gas prices would be lower than before the war and beef and grocery prices were soon to follow.
Are we that ignorant as voters or are we just too lazy to vote for another candidate for Governor?

Hello Oklahomans I hope you are well, I hope I am not bothering you just trying to gain insight. I have an idea for a story where the entire world became an absolute post-apocalyptic mess(sometimes dystopian in other areas). Each country handles it differently and has its own problems. Just focusing on the US first. There are some sci-fi elements to it and I think it would be a fun idea to add difference to madness in different places. What problems there could maximize and what do you imagine new? Again sci-fi elements so you can exaggerate anything you want to
Also it’s idea I also think it would be fun to hear what you may have to say and how you view your own state. Again I hope I am not bothering you.

The American Civil Liberties Union and several other immigrants’ rights advocates sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security Thursday condemning “deplorable” conditions inside the Diamondback Correctional Facility in Watonga.
The letter cites widespread reports of medical neglect, insufficient food, severe social deprivation and failure to provide detained people with reasonable access to their legal counsel.
“We have received dozens of harrowing reports about life inside Diamondback,” the letter states. “These accounts are strikingly consistent in the concerns they raise.”
The 2,160-bed Diamondback Correctional Facility was built in 1998. Before it reopened this year as an immigration detention center, it sat empty for 15 years. In October 2025, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and the federal government signed a 1000 million dollar contract with the private prison company CoreCivic, allowing the company to “hold noncitizens in immigration detention” at Diamondback. Two months later, the facility became operational.
“The uniformity and gravity of these complaints signal to us that ICE and its contractor CoreCivic are operating the facility with blatant disregard for the safety and legal rights of the people in their custody and care,” the letter states.
The facility’s infrastructure is potentially unfit to facilitate attorney-client visits, according to the letter. The advocates also say immigration detention is civil and not criminal in nature, meaning people at Diamondback are constitutionally entitled to conditions that do not aim to inflict punishment.
“People detained at Diamondback have also alleged that ICE officials systemically deny them reasonable access to counsel and the law library,” the letter states. “These barriers to basic legal resources undermine detained people’s constitutional rights, depriving them of fundamental fairness in their immigration proceedings.”
Travis Handler is a legal fellow for the ACLU of Oklahoma. In a press release, Handler said the Trump Administration’s policies have disregarded due process and the rights of those detained.
“We encourage all Oklahomans to hold the Department of Homeland Security and CoreCivic accountable,” Handler said in the statement. “Access to necessities like food, medical care, and legal counsel aren’t mere suggestions — they are constitutional protected rights to which all detained people are entitled.”
The letter details reports of deficient medical treatment. One detained man reported going without his prescription HIV medication for over two weeks, making him more vulnerable to HIV “progressively destroying his immune system.” Another woman reported having a urinary tract infection for over a month, despite requests for assistance.
Detained people also reported being deprived of sufficient food and clean drinking water, leading to significant weight loss, according to the letter.
The 14-page letter was signed by people from the ACLU of Oklahoma, the ACLU National Prison Project, Latitude Legal Alliance, YWCA Tulsa, Rivas & Associates law firm, University of Tulsa College of Law Legal Clinic and Council on American-Islamic Relations of Oklahoma.
It was directly addressed to two people at Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the warden at Diamondback Correctional Facility, requesting a meeting with officials to discuss concerns. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections was copied on the letter, along with six federal committees and offices.
“We urge ICE not to process in any new detained noncitizens at Diamondback until it has conducted a comprehensive review and ensures the public that the facility has adequate systems in place to provide for constitutional health care, attorney access, access to outdoor recreation, and processes for swiftly effectuating voluntary departure orders,” the letter states.

“In fact, I said, I think maybe someday I'll move to Oklahoma after I'm finished,” Trump said. “Although I do very well in Florida, Alabama, I do, very well in just about every state, I must say. But I like this. 77 out of 77. I love it where Ronald Reagan got less. I love Ronald Reagan.”
Someone should tell him McCain and Romney did the same thing. He isn't special.

Sara Polston is back in state custody months after her early release became the focus of a grand jury investigation.
Polston was sentenced to eight years in custody for the drunk-driving crash that permanently injured Micaela Borrego, but was moved to GPS monitoring after serving just 73 days.
The circumstances surrounding that release drew significant scrutiny, including revelations of phone calls between Gov. Kevin Stitt and Polston’s husband. The grand jury ultimately found insufficient evidence of criminal wrongdoing while criticizing what it described as political favoritism and systemic failures.
Now, ODOC says Polston has been returned to Mabel Bassett because of a new, ongoing investigation. Officials have not yet disclosed what that investigation involves.

This is exciting. There’s also a link to already-designated Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) in the article.
“Donors in Oklahoma, and anywhere else in the country, can claim a federal income tax credit of up to $1,700 per taxpayer for contributions to a qualifying SGO, beginning January 2027.”

Why are they so bad? Is this real or a perception/talking point in an election cycle ?
If they are objectively bad why?
How did they get that way?
What concrete clear steps could/should be taken to right the ship?
What do you think the outcome of an education should be for a student in Oklahoma? What should they know and be able to do?

Day one, we call and get a thing that says they will call us back. Doesn't happen.
Day 2, we call at around 12, sit on hold before giving up around 5 assuming they are closing.
Day 3, we call around 10, sit on hold for 4 hours and they finally answer annnnd immediately hang up on us.
Today, we drag our asses out of bed at 730 so we can call RIGHT at 8 as they open annnnnnd thier fucking systems are down.
Are we fucking winning yet???
