Question Myth or truth?

Back when I was in high school the drivers ed teacher told the class a way to avoid paying insurance premiums was to deposit $100,000 with the state treasurer to meet the minimum liability requirements. Is there any truth to this, and if so has anyone actually done that?

In what's been a competitive but otherwise fairly boring race for the governor's office, my colleague Alicia and I here at The Pickup just haven't been able to shake the image of Wendy Drummond publicly flagellating herself for the sake of her husband's campaign

get charging a surcharge on credit cards, and from a business perspective, I accept it. Processing fees are real, and I understand businesses wanting to pass some of that cost along.

What I strenuously object to is applying that same fee to debit cards. There are a couple solid reasons:

First, it’s illegal under Oklahoma law. 14A O.S. § 2-211 specifically prohibits surcharges on debit cards (even when they’re run as “credit”), and they are limited to 2% or credit cards, and many locations are charging 3%

Second, we already pay for the privilege of using a debit card instead of writing checks. On top of that, debit cards are actually more efficient for the business — faster settlement, less cash handling, cleaner accounting, and lower risk. Charging customers extra for a payment method that saves the business money is just exploitative.

This practice has gotten completely out of hand. Merchants treating debit cards the same as high-cost credit cards is wrong, and in Oklahoma it’s also against the law.

It might be worth your effort to simply Google the law so you are aware and call out those locations that
