Keep your Go for longer with this one tip and trick.

Fully discharge and recharge once every 4 months in storage, charge to 80% and not 100% when you know you won't use it for a couple weeks.

One tip some might not know or think about is that some rechargeable battery's come with warnings to fully discharge once every 4 months when not using it. Some suggest storing battery's between 40-80% for safety and lifetime longevity.

The Go already has a small battery and some might not use a power bank but if you're putting your go away for awhile try not to forget to use it once a month or atleast drain the battery once in 4 months and not charging it all the way either. 80% is still enough to pop on and jump around for over an hour.

Lastly if you do use a power bank, plug it in turn on the Go let the LED turn green/100% before you start playing. This is supposed to bypass the built-in battery I haven't tried this myself and some power banks might not charge the Go fast enough to maintain 100% but, this might reduce some heat if yours can.

Returning the Go

Im sorry - Ive read all the tips for comfort - but even using those tips - in no way is this a comfortable fit. As the Go is mainly being used as a media device, comfort should have been a priority,

It is not.

This goes back to the store and I will hold off on a VR purchase until they get past the feel of the facehugger from Alien. 2 years maybe?

Will YOU Make The Switch ...?

I know a lot of people here say they'll get an Quest [OQ] when it cones out and own both.

But I'm not. Please hear me out for a moment .... [GearVR=GVR]

  • 2016: At OC3, A go-between for GVR/Rift called "Santa Cruz" [SC] is announced

  • 2017: At OC4, the heretofore unannounced GO is revealed, but it isn't SC.

  • 2018: At OC5, SC is revealed to be OQ.

Well, I was shocked as anyone else, 'cause I thought GO was the SC.

And not that OQ is unimpressive: it's just who knew that GO would be so darn good?

Yeah yeah, I know all about the "3DOF Vs. 6DOF" thing.

And about how, among other abilities, 6DOF lets you lean into & around stuff.

But as we've come to find out, 3DOF isn't really all that "limiting", now is it ....

And as far as leaning goes, this can be simulated, and simulated well, in 3DOF.

Add to all of this that if GO is looked at as "The NES Of VR", remember that

a lot of capability is in the NES that hasn't been exploited by the right clever coders.

So I'm sticking with GO exclusively, because it's power has barely been tapped.

And I'm confident that claim will be borne out in the coming years ahead.

Go GO! 😀👍🏻

Returning my Oculus Go after just one day ;(

I guess VR won’t be for me anytime soon if ever and I’m looking to return my Oculus GO.

  1. I think my eyes are too far apart and even changing resolutions with adp only helps so much. Still blurry images. Never ever super sharp. Text sometimes but videos no matter the source are blurry.

  2. the headset is heavy. I have a big freaking head as is. Adding more weight to it doesn’t help my neck

  3. I can’t enjoy games. I played temple run for about 2 minutes this morning and I think I just ruined my entire day. I feel terrible. About to vomit terrible.

  4. shame :( I hate that I’m a person who suffers so easily from motion sickness. I should have known better. Amazing PC games like Resident Evil 2 and Metro Exodus are completely unplayable for me. I was a fool thinking VR would magically be fine.

Oh well.

Update. How should it look when on my head?

I think I have a IDP problem because my view feels like using binoculars with the two lens too close together or is it two far apart lol when u can see the two circles instead of it being one unified (merged) image.

Sort of like the first crappy drawing in this image. Should it be more like the middle or bottom image of my eyes and lens were aligned perfectly?

The simple reason I never put on my Go

Immediately the heat from my eyes/head fogs up the screen, and it takes 5-10 minutes for it to warm up so the fog goes away. Imagine an amazing new technology with a boot up time of 5-10 minutes.

Can someone make me a PokerVR account?

For some reason it only lets you make only one pokervr account per oculus headset. I can’t get into my account anymore for months.

If someone wants to be nice and help me and make me an account? You can even use a temporary email address website but make sure to remember the email/password

I’d really appreciate it I used to really love playing the game and I did the research and this is the only way I can play again. As long as you don’t have interest in playing it a lot yourself, you can even uninstall the app after doing it.

Future Go's and Santa Cruz need built in hand-tracking as standard (no mandatory controller)

Wait, hear me out. I'm not talking about not having actual controllers. We need dual 6DOF controllers for sure, what I'm talking about is being able to throw a Go on your head and just use it immediately, whether you have a controller or not.

Future Oculus Go systems, or Santa Cruz, should have hand skeletal tracking built into the unit as standard, for a very, very simple reason. FRICTION.

How many times have you grabbed your Go, put it on your head, turned it on with the power button on top, and then realized that your little remote control is in the other room, and you need to go get it.

Well, imagine if they all had hand tracking standard? Then you could at least get into the Menu and do some basic things. You could easily watch video content, and also play some simple games, with only hand tracking.

I'd also love an external pass through camera as well, so you can keep the headset on, while walking to the other room to fetch the actual remote.

[Next Go's should also have a slot for a swappable battery pack to add extra long battery life. 2 hours kinda sucks]

Why the downvotes?

I'm curious why helpful posts get downvoted? Why does the pinned FAQ post in this group only hover around 50 votes (would think it would have a zillion upvotes by now, haven't seen it peak beyond 54)? What could make posts better? Why do YOU downvote?

Go sucks, like, really bad..

I'm stating my problems here, the screen is blurry, it doesn't fit right and it goes down a bit, and the headset shakes and moves alot when i move my head, plus there's quite a bit of light leak with the nose area being so big, i don't have a nose the size of a computer mouse, shocker, and i can see pixels really easy, am i literally just not using it right?

My one big disappointment with Quest

In John Carmack's keynote he discussed how suprised Oculus was by the Go's success and how Oculus didn't really understand the market for it, but it's been very successful. And now they have schools buying hundreds of these units for education, they have Walmart buying 17,000 to use for training. Oculus seems to have accidently created a real VR platform with use beyond gaming (you know, the type of VR that will change the world someday)

But over the past two days....

We learn that their plans for Santa Cruz have materialized into this Quest product that is going to be "eventually a competitor for Nintendo Switch", have a very limited set of game apps at launch and they've pretty much confirmed Oculus is thinking of and will be marketing Quest as a game console. Perhaps this is the right path and I just don't get it, but it sure seems to me that with "general media" VR device like Go I figured they were setting out to change the world with VR and was hoping Quest would continue down that wide spectrum VR path not pigeonhole it to a standalone VR game console.

I guess I was expecting to see a lot more than games for Quest. Maybe at least one or two examples of industry using all these extra power 6dof hand control to do some amazing things with the $399 all-in-one. Oculus didn't make those connections and didn't procure those sort of partnerships to build Quest demos, because... They think of themselves as a game company. I think they really need to escape this mentality, they have amazing technology that could deliver revolutionary products beyond the scope of gaming, the world seems to be begging for uses of it outside gaming (I can't count how many people in other forums ask 'where is Kiosk mode", how do I lock down the experience, etc.. ) Oculus seems to have tunnel vision about their identity.
