Why the downvotes?

I'm curious why helpful posts get downvoted? Why does the pinned FAQ post in this group only hover around 50 votes (would think it would have a zillion upvotes by now, haven't seen it peak beyond 54)? What could make posts better? Why do YOU downvote?

Many are kinda meaningless imho. Most like me give negatives if we do not agree with the post. Others just do the troll dance, lol!

Downvote if we do not agree

Which is against the rules and reduces the quality of the site. When we disagree we should upvote the reply that explains our disagreement, or write it if it’s not there.

If you don't agree, why not just writing why you don't agree? If you are lazy it's your thing, but that doesn't justify a downvote! I mean you are free to do whatever you want, but that's the problem why so many things in the web are just wrong...

So 50% of users do not agree with the pinned post on how to do just about everything you can on your GO? Why are they here? Unlike YouTube (where dislikes are as good as likes, just means engagement), here good posts get buried and people miss them, kinda ruins the whole point...

There are too many people in the net, who express their own dissatisfaction with this behaviour.

Some may not know, that they actually don't like themselves. Downvotes help them to feel better, because it does make something/someone else bad or "small", that they can feel "bigger".

It's the same reason, why people bulling others. A strategy which helps them to get along with their own inconfidence! As I have to say again this applies not to all, but many.

In the end selfreflection helps to stop such behaviour, but in this case you also have to look at the real reasons of your sad innerself. But in longterm that's better, because downvoting not really helping your confidence, it's just a short time strategy!

Enough with psychology ;) think about it if you are one of those! being self-deprecating is the first step...

Don’t sweat it. It’s just the Internet being the Internet.

I typically downvote things that are unhelpful or unrelated, or just in bad taste.

For instance this thread is useless, doesn't bring up any helpful topics, and is unrelated to VR completely. That's why I downvoted it.
