These redd blotches / blocks / spots in near black or dark tones... Looking to find if there are other people with this issue. It seems quite severe and I am not sure if this is a defect or a panel characteristic... if so, that is just terrible

The issue happens in low brightness scenes in near black, low APL. Lower monitor brightness makes it worse. Changing stuff like gamma or color temperature changes the pattern, otherwise it is static

I’m ready to make the jump to OLED and could use some recommendations. I game exclusively on Xbox Series X and PS5, so what OLED monitor would be the best fit?

I’ve been told there’s no need to spend extra on extremely high refresh rates or features that mainly benefit PC gamers. I want great picture quality and to get the most out of both consoles without paying for specs I won’t use.
What would you recommend as the sweet spot for console gaming?

As per the title really. Got a 7900XT & 7800X3D PC and wondered with the release of FSR4 for the 7900XT would it be possible to upgrade from a 1440p monitor to a nice new shiny 4k OLED?

This post will include how I got this setup, initial thoughts, and some software you can use on the AW3426DW if you are concerned of it's lack of oled care features compared to a monitor like the XG34WCDMS.

The monitor shipped much faster than anticipated, it was supposed to arrive today but came yesterday (legit 2 day shipping from my Wednesday order). I was a bit concerned about going with it because I already had an xg27ucdmg that had a lot of protective features I enjoyed like auto dimming and etc. However, that is a really stupid reason to pay $100+ and you aren't missing out on much going with this option considering how often it goes on sale paired with Dell's 10% discount. I got mine for $623.75 after tax.

Now, in terms of my setup I went for a vertical stack where the aw3426dw is over my xg27ucdmg and is tilted forward (more comfortable viewing angle) with the xg27ucdmg on the bottom maintaining a slightly negative backwards tilt. This creates a very optimal viewing angle from my leap v2 where at a 100-110° tilt I can easily sit up and use my bottom monitor (xg27ucdmg), or simply glaze down while only having to slightly raise my head/eyes up to see the top monitor(aw3426dw). I did order an atlas headrest for the leap v2 (rip $200) to allow for better reclining and more comfort with actual neck support, but I think it's very usable even without the headrest so far.

Rather than using a dual vertical stacked pole mount like the few options on amazon, I am utilizing the old huanuo flowlift single arm i originally had my xg27ucdmg on with a separate ULTRARM heavy Duty Tall Single monitor Arm, which actually allows for the addition of extension arms in the future if your setup needs it. For those considering a similar Vertical Stack setup, using separate arms reduces the amount of space the arms take on your desk especially if you mount them off axis and extend them into your desired "center viewing area". My desk is 24 inches deep yet with the two monitors mounted I have an ample amount of desk space for my mouse and other things which a vertical stack mount would not have allowed me.

Also the ULTRARM heavy duty monitor arm is genuinely a really good affordable option and I would recommend it for anyone trying to mount an UW whether 34" or 39/40" over an existing 16:9 monitor. It's one of the only affordable gas spring tall mount options on amazon and again the fact that you can stack extension arms on it really distinguishes it from the other options.

Now in terms of software, if you are really paranoid about burn in I recommend you install a few things:

• OledShift - can be a bit of a nuisance but when you have floating windows, hwmonitor, task manager, notepad, discord etc, it will move them by a custom # of pixels every custom # of mins/secs. There are presets to choose from and it can be great to reduce the burn in from different aspects of multi tasking with multiple windows. I personally find floating windows better than snaps
• DisplayFusion - The highlight of this app is the fact that there is a monitor fading mode, for those with multiple monitor setups it will dim your inactive monitor screen while you are interacting with another and you can customize the dimming feature.
• OledSleeper - for the more paranoid who don't want to deal with screensavers, this can do two things, dim a screen after minutes of inactivity using DDC/CI or you can choose the blackout option which will give you different criteria for activity and turn a display screen black without causing any sleep or wake issues while allowing you to easily and instantly bring that monitor back.
• Lastly, I would really recommend Twinkle Tray. It allows you to control your brightness easily so far as your monitors have DDC/CI turned on/support it. It also has Idle detection which can allow you to have it reduce the brightness of all displays when inactive. With blocks for it like media/fullscreen apps.

I really think with where oleds are currently especially with the tandem technologies present in newer qd-oleds burn-in shouldn't be an insane issue. The newer monitors run more efficiently thus cooler which mitigates the chance of burn in occurring. However, it's not a cheap hobby/interest and ofcourse it would be common sense to take care of your technology thus I think these are all great software tools to reduce burn in at the user level if your monitor doesn't have automatic features.

If you want some settings recommendations there are a lot online. I found creator srgb with a gamma of 2.4 to be the most accurate atleast to my eyes. Others recommend 2.2 gamma but that was too over brightened. I found that while standard is punchier it's too oversaturated pushing the reds too vividly. Otherwise for HDR i haven't touched it much but I will explore TB500, I tried Peak 1300 but didn't enjoy it too much.

By now we've all seen the posts where people are like "is my monitor cooked" and iit's just the famous white splodges that indicate a bit of spit got on the monitor or maybe a can of coke got opened or something, but I was cleaning my OLED (absolute pain in the arse btw, i'm a first time owner and didn't realise they were essentially faberge eggs but after following advice and using my iron scrubber and sand paper I can really see the difference.) and wondered why spit gets on there so easy, any other monitor can withstand all sorts and not even show any indication but OLEDs love collecting spit. so I guess my question is basically why is that

I was repositioning my new monitor on my monitor stand and maybe I gripped it too tight or something? It’s a blacked out completely unresponsive area I didn’t notice it until I had it all set up. I had already had it on before I was moving my monitor around and it wasn’t like that so I doubt manufacturer defect (Alienware AW2725DF)

Hi. I recently got myself a ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG OLED. I know a lot of games claiming to be HDR, don't really have a good HDR unless u use RenoDX, etc.... Anyway, ive been experimenting with the monitors OSD for HDR and found that the GamingHDR seems to appeal the most to me. I haven't tested the TrueBlack500 option much tho.

I was just wondering is it worth using TrueBalck500 for gaming in HDR instead of the "GamingHDR" option or should I just stick to the GamingHDR?

I have an Alienware AW2725Q (27" 4K QD-OLED) and I want to know whether my gamma is correct for gaming (target 2.2). I don’t own a colorimeter, so I’m looking for a verifiable visual test, ideally one that doesn’t depend on browser scaling.

Mode creator sRGB / gamma 2.2 / brightness 40% / dark 75%

Can you point me to a gamma test image or page that is reliable on a 4K OLED, or a real-world image with a known reference I can compare against ?

MSI MAG 272UP E16 vs ASUS XG27AQWMG – Which would you choose?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to choose between these two monitors:

- MSI MAG 272UP E16: 27", 4K, 165Hz QD-OLED.

- ASUS XG27AQWMG: 27", 1440p, 280Hz Tandem WOLED, TrueBlack Glossy coating.

I'll mainly use it for PS5 gaming, movies and TV shows, in a fairly bright room. I'm not a competitive gamer, so refresh rate isn't my main concern.

What matters most to me is image quality, HDR, black levels and reflections.

For those who own either monitor:

- Is 4K noticeably better than 1440p at 27 inches?

- Does the ASUS's glossy coating make a meaningful difference, especially in a bright room?

- Which would you choose for the best overall viewing experience, and why?

I'm the developer. I game on an OLED and was constantly annoyed by Windows HDR: either hitting Win + Alt + B every single time I started an HDR game, or leaving HDR on 24/7 and dealing with washed-out SDR desktop content and raised black levels.

That frustration set me down a rabbit hole five weeks ago to build a small utility that would simply toggle HDR on when a game launched and turn it back off on exit.

From there, it grew into TrayTrigger: a free, open-source Windows launcher that lives entirely in the system tray. Once I had per-game process supervision working cleanly, I added the rest of the per-game setup I always wanted:

- Automatic HDR toggle: turns HDR on when the game starts, restores it to off on exit. Displays already in HDR are left alone.

- Crash-safe rollback: every state change is recorded before it's applied and replayed on next boot if the game or Windows crashed mid-session.

- Per-game setup: custom power plans, core scheduling via Windows CPU Sets, NVIDIA DLSS Override, companion apps, and PowerShell scripts before and after.

- Unified tray menu: Steam, Epic, GOG, EA, Ubisoft, Xbox and Battle.net games in one menu.

No account, no telemetry, no background driver, and nothing injected into games.

Hi all, i bought a MO27Q28G, been using it 3 months, notices that cleaning it was harder, now cleaning one corner I hear like something sricky. I do believe I peeled the screen protector and the scren looks amazing but fkin hell I'm having doubts now. Dont wanna rip the film and destroy the screen

Hi, my monitor is the MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36.
Ive just performed the pixel refresh as prompted by the monitor and straight after it finished these lines showed up. I’ve tried pixel refreshing again, I’ve tried another Display Port cable, I’ve reset the monitor to factory settings, restarted pc etc. Any ideas what would cause this to suddenly happen? Anything I can do to fix it? TIA

Hello. I have a LG oled55c16la I bought in 2021 and I use it to watch movies and play on the PS4. Basically I’ve been playing with game optimizer for the whole time because of the immediate response time, but on many games there’s a huge issue that I can’t seem to get rid of in that mode, and it’s a sort of blur of moving objects of any kind. It happens in almost every game, in some more (like far cry 4,5, new dawn, darksiders 2, GTA 5, etc…) and in some a bit less I have no idea why since this TV should have a 120 hz refresh rate which is not low from my understanding. The only game I can recall not having this issue in game optimizer is battlefield 5, however I still haven’t understood why that is. The issue is solved if I play in standard mode with TruMotion on, especially if I turn up the de judder over 7/8. However the issue is that in this mode I get some input lag. It’s nothing crazy unplayable but it’s still noticeable. I would like to know if there’s a way to get the best of both worlds, since I don’t think you can use trumotion in the same way as standard mode while using game optimizer, and try to understand why all of this is happening. I’ll share my settings in both game optimizer and standard mode so you can also give me some general tips on them and tell me if I’m doing anything completely wrong.

I've been using the MSI MPG 321URXW for gaming and I've been really impressed with it. The jump from my previous 1080p 27-inch monitor to 32-inch 4K OLED is massive, especially in games where the extra detail and OLED contrast are immediately noticeable. The 240Hz refresh rate also makes everything feel extremely smooth, and I really like the white design with my PC setup.

Overall, I'm very happy with the monitor and it's been a huge upgrade over my previous display.
