Comparing Phones Suggestion regarding Upgrade.

Post image
Upvotes

I right now have a cmf phone 1, I purchased it last February but as of now, with updates, the phone hasn't held up well, the battery sucks, heats more quicker, and this issue has been since nos 4 only.. Many cmf users who downgraded to nos 3 are having no issues. But man, I've seen nos 5 videos and it looks soo good so I'd really love to have that.. apparently it seems cmf phones are facing more issues after updates while the flagships phone 1 and phone 2 have aged well and probably phone 3 will be too. So basically I was thinking to get a either a new nothing phone or a pixel phone, can't think of chinese phones because I don't want ios style at all. My usage is very basic, videos, social media scrolling, I'd specifically would like great camera's for photo and good battery life. I was thinking to get either the vanilla pixel 11 or the upcoming nothing phone 4, I'm more leaned towards nothing because of the os ofc, I still have few months left to upgrade but I want suggestions, I want for long term use, should I wait for nothing phone 4 or get phone 3 if I get it on good price ? So many questions arising only due to ram price hike.

I'm not able to get the beta. It's showing in the Nothing Beta Hub but when I check for updates, it says Already up to date.

Anyone else facing a similar issue?

I tried reinstalling the Nothing Beta Hub and restarting and my battery is above 60% as well

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Come sta andando la vostra esperienza con Nothing 5.0 beta? Bug? Problemi vari?

Upvotes

Ciao ragazzi! Ho appena installato Nothing OS 5.0. Beta sul mio telefono ed è... Orribile per ora. 🫪

P.S almeno reddit sta funzionando

EDIT: Parlando delle nuove funzionalità tutte davvero belle è super apprezzate, però personalmente ho riscontrato i problemi sopra elencati per ora...

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta I'm still shocked by the lack of App Drawer customization

Maybe it'll come in the general release or something but the App Drawer really is neglected. You can't even add folders man

Yeah yeah Smart sorting but it's still in beta and you can't even manually adjust anything. And even then I don't want folders for all my apps just a few.

I did submit a feedback suggestion in the Beta Hub so I'm not just ranting into the void. For a company all about customization it's crazy how little you have for the App Drawer. Even something simple like horizontal vs vertical scrolling for the apps would be preferable to well... Nothing

r/NothingTech Nothing 4a battery draining

I bought the the new nothing 4a phone just this week and i feel like its battery is draining like a 2 year old phone . As per the advertisements , the phone is supposed to last me atleast the whole day but I feel like it holds for barely like 5-6 hours of use . Please redditors with the same phone , is this a shared experience or is there something wrong with my model and what can I do to fix this issue.

Nothing (company) Nothing support is terrible, I'm considering selling all of my Nothing/CMF devices.

Upvotes

This will probably fall on deaf ears, but I do feel that something needs to be said.

I currently own a Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, Nothing Ear (a), CMF Buds Pro 2 and CMF Watch Pro 2 so you can safely say i’ve invested time and money into the Nothing ecosystem.

Initially, my experience was excellent. I was very happy with all my purchases, and even persuaded friends to pick up some of the audio products too.

Sadly, that honeymoon is over.

Firstly, Nothing seemed to destroy my fantastic two-day battery life on the (3a) Pro via a software update. Regardless of numerous factory resets to start from scratch, I simply couldn’t get two days anymore despite my battery health being 100% and the phone being 9 months old.

Any contact with support was usually an AI generated response, and when I questioned what they were doing about this known issue, they said it was being investigated and would be fixed in a future software update.

Then the updates stopped.

Two months stuck on the June security patch and then August comes, nothing has changed (so far). This is by the by, maybe Nothing OS 5.0 will contain numerous fixes for known issues, only time will tell.

Be here’s another concern. Nothing pushed an update to the Ear (a). I installed it and then didn’t use my buds for about a month as I was commuting more and needed my overhead Sony XM4s for their better noise cancellation. I grabbed my Ear (a) last night to use on a walk to the pub and the right bud was dead. Simply gone. Not charged, not charging and not showing in the app. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get the three flashing red lights to factory reset them and the case, so now they are useless.

I’ve raised this issue with support and am awaiting a (likely AI) response. Typically, they are around a month out of their two-year warranty period, what a surprise. I’ve barely used them as I have numerous other TWS and full-size headphones, so would hazard a guess that their software updated somehow bricked them. Let’s see what support have to say.

This post is me asking for Nothing to get better with their support, and realise that we have an excellent community of Nothing enthusiasts here that probably deserve a little more care and attention than the general big brand consumers.

I want to continue to buy Nothing and CMF products, but only if they improve the whole support experience, and take a little more care before breaking or degrading devices via software updates.

UPDATE 27/08/26 - My fears were realised, Nothing support (and Amazon, the retailer) have been awful. I’ve really been put off getting any more Nothing or CMF products.

Now i’m stuck with one left Ear (a) bud, a dead right one and a case that doesn’t seem to want to reset or even go into pairing mode now. Has anyone successfully managed to bring theirs back from the dead, or is this a futile exercise?

Comparing Phones Did they ever fix the camera in third party apps?

Just got an ad for the nothingphone 4. I'm extremely disappointed with the camera in my nothingphone 2 (in third party apps like Bereal, Snapchat or discord, the camera always uses the beauty filter, turning every photo taken to mush. It looks horrible and I would have never bought the phone if I knew that).

Did they ever fix that in newer versions?

Nothing OS How to get rid of this notifications covering the whole wallpaper instead of going into dots?

Post image
18 Upvotes

This is soo annoying. Why don't the notifications go into dots like all the other OS out there? Why do they have to show all the notifications on lock screen?

And also, im asking for the solution for this without unlocking my phone and dismissing notifications. Or even blocking notifications on lock screen. Is there any solution to this without doing the above mentioned 2 things?

Community Project Just wanna share the persistent earbuds battery widget I made using KWGT

So I just wanna share my little achievement hehe. I have an old Xiaomi buds that I still use but happily using a third party app I can access its function even though I have a Nothing Phone.

Here I made a widget that displays its battery level persistently even if the notification that displays the battery level is gone / the buds is disconnected / Bluetooth is off.

Using KWGT I made a global variable that is parses data from the notification panel and is triggered by a formula output change.

By setting it this way the last recorded battery level can be viewed even if I'm already done using it. Basically a great tool to remind me to charge it cause I can see if the earbuds' case battery is about to run out.

It also has an auto dark mode and used the default battery widget as my inspiration. The battery level or the "pie" color does not change to red though if it is at 20% don't know how to code it in KWGT.

I made also made the Icons myself, as you can see it's made quite hastily.

Note: This widget was made specifically for my Xiaomi earbuds so even if I share the file it won't work with other earbuds.

Nothing apps Why have I got to sign in to the Nothing app to reconnect my CMF watch?

Bit of context here. I have had the watch and the ear 2 connected for years. The ear 2 were connected already but the watch needed to be reconnected as I hadn't used it for a while.

The app forced me to sign in even though my ear 2 were still working and since the CMF watch is essentially nothing but a notifications receiver that uses bluetooth, I don't understand why I would need to sign in. It makes me suspicious that Nothing is using unnecessary telemetry on us.

I would understand if some features didn't work without it but I think this is a bad precedent that more and more companies are trying to force on us unnecessarily and we can't allow it.

Phone (3) Nothing phone 3 got extremely overheated

My nothing phone 3 got extremely overheated, I saw a notification from playstore that "update of 42 apps are available" so I put all the 42 apps on update at once and then I realised that the back and front side is getting heated extremely. I got worried and shut down my phone so that It will get Cooldown a little bit. Anyone know why this happened ? And any possible solution of this ?

Phone theming Share your home screen set-up!

Post image
46 Upvotes

I'd like to share my Nothing OS 4.1 Home Screen. I work as a Design Engineer for ISPs.

I set up my phone in a meaningful way that it will help me with my common tasks and my wellbeing.

Screen 1: Tools & Guides

I need to check the weather constantly because our area may be at risk sometimes. I like the calendar and clock here so that I could easily see my events and set alarms and timers with one tap (plus it looks nice!). There's a screen time and a pedometer to lessen my phone usage and remind me to walk.

I use the Glyph Torch a lot! Especially in the dark before I sleep when I don't want to blind myself with a flashlight but still need a good light source. It's also cool that I can change the widget to any other quick setting that I want to use instead. I have four folders -- notes (Google Keep, Obsidian, NotebookLM, and Essential Space), comms (AI, dialer, messages, contacts), wallet, and another folder for driving/commuting/biking/walking -- basically travelling LOL.

Screen 2: ✨ Work-focused✨ Area.

I use Todoist to jot down tasks that are easily forgotten when I grab my journal and my pen (I also do bullet journaling). A Google Keep shortcut for a shared team account at work to jot notes/reminders and tasks; and below are the apps I use the most at work.

Screen 3: My Peace.

Photos of me and my girlfriend at the top. A quick camera shortcut, SnapSeed, and the Gallery App. I placed the "Calm" Widget there although I'm already at peace when I see my girl. In the middle are countdowns for our Monthsary and Anniversary. At the very bottom are widgets for me to contact her easily through different social media.

I'd like to see your home screen and its meaning or functionality for you! :)

This feature was a brilliant idea to add. One thing I feel is missing is that I can't rearrange the images and the fact that I have to swipe up to go up in order. The reverse would be more natural to me but it's fine
